From growing up in South London to the multiple unsuccessful trials and plans to give up playing, I signed my first professional contract with Crystal Palace a few months before my 22nd birthday. In 1991 I signed for Arsenal Football Club where I scored 185 goals in 288 appearances. I went on to play 581 league games, scoring 387 goals for seven clubs in England and Scotland, earning 33 caps for the English national team.
I am now fortunate enough to have a football broadcast career working for the BBC & ITV.
Some Career Achievements:
185 goals in 288 appearances for Arsenal (2nd all time leading goal scorer)
117 goals in 253 starts for Crystal Palace (leading post war goal scorer)
33 caps for England Menâs National Team
Premier League Winner (Arsenal): 97/98
Premier League Golden Boot (Arsenal): 91/92
FA Cup (Arsenal) : 92/93, 97/98
European Cup Winners' Cup (Arsenal): 93/94 #IanWright #Football #Arsenal - Sport
BFG will always be remembered for his display at âThe Mertesaker finalâ against Chelsea. I can remember dreading his inclusion in the team after a very long layoff with injury and having to face players like Hazard. But he was exceptional that day, and what a way to sign off.
And scoring that header again Wigan in the 2014 FA Cup semi final.
Glen Fowler that game showed his love and desire for the club
i used to enjoy the games where the commentary team would big up benteke and BFG would gently scoop him up and put him in his pocket for the afternoon *yes the same benteke who has scored 4 goals in two seasons and is still trading under the title of striker !!! )
That performance in that FA Cup Final cemented his status for me. We shoulda never won that game. He was my MOTM. Think they gave it to Alexis (who was a favourite of mine)
Also when he gave Ozil a telling off in front of everyone at the Etihad for not applauding the travelling fans (we lost 6-3)
I love the way that Per talks he is really passionate about his role in this team. Great ambassador!
The guy loves arsenal..
He's too soft.
He's class. He even gets Shearer to laugh on the Match of the Day podcasts. His humour making a lot of people smiles in these changed times.
Rory Obrien send in your cv tough guy
Get Patrick up in there...
Vieira the greatest midfielder arsenals ever had
Bruh! Not only Arsenal. When we are talking about best midfielders of all time we have zidane, maradonna, cruyff and then Top 3 complete holding midfielders in history of football like viera
Vieira wasn't really a holding midfielder he could do that job but as a box to box midfielder and energy he was special
Pat was the all-rounder type midfielder. Like Gerrard, but without the appetite for long-range cannons.

Being a Liverpool fan I honestly love Ianâs personality. He is so infectious and funny. Top bloke.
David, did you think about becoming an Arsenal fan? Just saying, the biggest club in the world.
Everyone loves Wrighty
@@mathis2211 London*, dont say the world cuz its stupid to say that. We're one of the biggest clubs in the world but we're not The biggest
His laugh is the best. He can make anyone else laugh with that laugh. Just projects positivity
Thatâs right even spurs fans love Ian Wright trust me on this... and lm arsenal fan through and through đđđđ
This "I'm going to call you" show is just fantastic. I'm loving it. #respect legend.
I like how everyone Wrighty call is smiling, Wrighty is of course smiling and people watching are smiling.
Captain invincible VIERAAAAA HE COMES FROM SENEGAL, HE PLAYED FOR ARSENAL, VIERAAAAAA! LEGEND.
ONE OF THE GREATEST MIDFIELDERS EVER TO HAVE PLAYED THIS SPORT
@@DEEDUBZ fact
10:30 two of the greatest Arsenal legends!
Ian Wright Wright Wright!
Uncle Ian back again with the great content. We all love Wrighty and we support him because he's real. He's the reason I support Arsenal. He's an inspiration to all (and the black British community especially)đȘđŸâ„
So true
Vieira was so, so unique. His technique was absolutely outstanding. He could tackle, run, dribble, shoot, pass, the lot. You could go to war with him or you could play total football. He was a complete one off. When people say Arsenal never replaced Vieira, it's stupid - as Arsene Wenger always used to say, you cannot replace Patrick Vieira. It just can't be done. The captain of the greatest team I ever saw live, and the reason I fell in love with football as a kid, The Invincibles. Seeing Patrick bossing the midfield with those Adidas Predator boots is one of my abiding memories growing up watching the game. Honestly, just a fantastic, fantastic player who we were so lucky to have at the Arsenal.
Next ; Pires, Henry, Sol and Sir Arsene please. Love from Kenya.
Big up patrick vieira i still remember when he signed for arsenal as a 19 year old.
Tayeeb Hussain and the rest is history.... what a legend
You mean so much to so many people from my 70's gen.
Much luv legend
I don't know how you can hate this guy. Very respectful man
Uncle Ian needs to call Henry đ„đ„đ„
The best football program during this quarantine .
Patrick's debut and your hat-trick was my first trip to Highbury. I'll never forget it.
I've listened to your podcasts you've had it really difficult and I'm so happy that you live a nice life and had a successful carrer
Yes wrighty just saying we r all with you â€ïž
Big up man like Ian Wright. Hope you are doing well bro.
P.S. it's not nice the abuse you received yesterday. I hope it hasn't affected you in any way
What happened?
Rizgn
He got racially abused on social media
@@Rizgn Wrighty received some nasty, racist abuse via his Twitter DMs. He seemed quite affected by it.
Mad thing about it was the fact he bigged up Brazilian Ronaldo..
@@Rizgn he got racially abused on Twitter
Patrick and Ian in the same video makes me smile so much đ love these two!
Once a gunner always a gunner absolutely love that Vieira and also keep up the good work Ian stay safe out there and there are vile people out there see what that pathetic person who was racist towards you last night stay strong we are all behind you legend đđ London is red đŽđŽđŽđŽ
Everytime I see Vieira, especially in relation to an Arsenal discussion, I bother a bit about him. He always looks happy though, but I always can't help thinking he might be hurting he hasn't got a statue at the Club. 3 of his teammates have, and he was just as important as all 3.
Hm that's interesting. Would never have thought of it.
I agree. He definitely deserves a statue. Arguably, I think he's the last real captain we have had.
Per seems like a decent guy. Really loving his passion and enthusiasm he has for his new job. Top man.
It brings a smile to my face when I see the arsenal OGâs. great times reminiscing
Vieira is criminally underrated.
3 premier Leagues, 4 FA Cups, 3 Community Shields , 4 Serie As, 2 Supercoppa Italias, 1 FIFA WC, 1 Confed cup, 1 European Championship. Patrick Vieira must appear in each every list of top 10 best players of all time.
Wrighty & Vieira ... two of the best players to don an Arsenal shirt .... a must watch!!!
There must a unique camaraderie of playing for a team. When you love the team you play for, learn the history of the club, it bonds all these guys. Keep up the good stuff Wrighty
Guys, I love Patrick Vieira. You don't understand. Honestly one of my dream footballers. â„ïž
VIERRRRRRRA WOAHHH!
Love you Wrighty, the man at the absolute helm of the fan base.
I have been watching The Last Dance lately and it made me think about Henry, Vieira, Bergkamp and Sol.
Steve H absolutely true. Ian Wright on the night. Players arenât made like this guy.
@@desporto6559 Equally, I could correct your improper usage of the word "pronounce" in the general context, when you were referring to an error in SPELLING (not pronouncing) a Noun. But that would be boring, right?
Ian wrights laugh is infectious
Will someone just say âlove you â back to Wrighty ! He says it to everyone đ
GET THIS MAN A STATUE OUTSIDE THE EMIRATES ARSENAL THROUGH AND THROUGH
All in The Game lol
Patrick Vieira the real brave heart
We love you Wrighty. Screw the racist and we are all with you! Sending love from SG.
Big up Per, Amie and my all time favourit player Patrick Viera.
Really nice video Ian, all respect to you my friend â€ïž

Who else was smiling throughout those interviews.. Arsenal is something special
The club is shaping up. We have Arsenal men in the backroom positions now
had tears thrice in my eyes
respect man
I love these so so much, the pride per gives as he talks about the up an comers, fantissssh
The greatest Arsenal midfielder that our beloved team has ever grace is Patrick Vieira because the command that he gave the whole team was awesome and i salute him on. And i want to thank him and his entire team he played with. One love.
Thats what i love about Arsenal, its not just any club where people come and go and its just âbusiness as usualâ, a bond is created and you join the family.
Christian levy said he loves the way per talks and how passionate he is etc, and its so true, but the way i see it per is a guy who came all the way from germany, i dnt even know him to care about Arsenal in any way, but he joined and now look where he is, thats how you know the club is infectious â€ïžđ€
Per is a bigger Gunner than I thought, what a guy! He has the Arsenal DNA and his intelligence and passion will inspire future stars. I hope he stays with us for many more years
Patrick vieira â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
Cheers Ian, quality interview with some legends and thanks for shedding some light on Goals 4 Girls as I was unaware of the work they did.
When i see Viera I remember the crucial goal that he scored against Chelsea at the Bridge 2004.
Desporto is just little typo and not a big deal.
This has no rules now, keep it up
Ian Wright, this is gold what your putting out at the moment, we are all grateful for you.

I had the pleasure of playing for Arsenal youth from age 7-12, back in the 90s - the academy has come a long way. I remember watching Ian Wright training with the youth team in the clock end indoor pitches when he was suspended, I got to chat with him and watch him play up close, one of the best memories of being a young gunner! Big love Ian.
Ian your content is so good man! Freaking love it, keep coming with the good stuff. It really make us feel like we are really part of the arsenal club and family
