    I subbed because you seem so passionate about what you do. You made repotting palms really fascinating, I watched the entire video. Great content!

    I totally agree about too much handling of the roots! I recently repotted my majesty palm and I was afraid 😱 to detangle all of its soil!

    Great video. I thought my palm was planted too shallow (looked like yours at 3:05), so I fixed it. A big help, thanks for posting.

    What kind of potting soil should I use for my Sago palm? And does potting soil go bad, quite a few years old in original bag. Thanks!

    I have a question, I noticed when you repotted you filled th esoil up to the top of the base of the palm covering all roots, some people say dont do this and allow the pant to have those roots exposed , others say it can cause the death of the plant if oyu cover those air roots at the bast of the trun and thats a antural occurance, and any soil would suffocate the palm.......i am conflicted

    I just repotted my palm with 25% perlite 75% multi purpose potting soil, but you used 50%, should I re-pot them with more perlite? my palm is much smaller, its an elegans if I remember correctly. I also split it up from 1 into 4 - hadn't re-potted it for about 5 years and it was huge! I'm scared it will die from my repotting in case I've done anything wrong, I've never used perlite or split it up before. I've had it for 9 years now and still a newbie! thanks for the video !

    Do Latania like free drainage? How often should I water them. Also how much sunlight is needed for them?

    Hey Christian,
    I repotted my Trachycarpus fortunei from a 2 gallon to a 10.5 gallon in December 2016 and yesterday I was doing some maintenance and landscaping in the garden and had to move the pot a bit,, I noticed thick roots coming out from the bottom of the pot in two different holes. That was very fast I think! Any thoughts?

    • @TheCfkingfish
      @TheCfkingfish  Před 7 lety +1

      Edi Anuubis Albert That is quite fast, however those roots may be adventitous and possibly will need to fill out the bottom of the pot.

      Edi Anuubis Albert Hi Edi. Just a thought here about that Trachycarpus. It seems that they do a lot of growing at much lower temps than most palms. If you are anywhere down South, chances are that palm just never slowed down from transplant through the winter. If you aren't lucky enough to be as far south as zone 10, the tropical palms roots slow considerably in cold - they may even stop below 60 I believe. Here in Seattle, I only repot tropical palms at the very warmest times of year. If they aren't actively rooting, they rot. Now I can say this as an Authority , but I do have a bunch of dead palms that I got in the winter from Hawaii and they did not show any signs of root growth . Even though they were indoors, I think I keep the thermostat to low to stimulate root growth. My Trachycarpus outdoors never stopped growing all winter - even in pots
