Bulter says this about their soy curls. "How are Soy Curls™ made? Our soybeans are grown in the USA on a family farm, certified Non-GMO and grown without chemical pesticides."
Thanks, Kathy! I'm Flexitarian, but I'm trying to make sure I get enough protein (and enough interest) with my meals and these look like an good way to make that happen, without needing to use meat. I just saw Butler's soy curls at a local health food store, last week, and I put them on my shopping list. I like that you showed two methods of cooking them that I had not seen, before. I appreciate all the tips! Also, if there's anyone out there who can't tolerate nutritional yeast, I have used a combination of granulated garlic, turmeric, salt, and a dash of pepper, to get a chicken flavor, without having to use that. Blessings!
I bought the 12# box about 2 years ago. I divided into smaller portions and vacuum sealed them. I don’t have lots of freezer space but kept in cool basement. They’re still fine. Last week I made chili. This week I experimented and made a casserole recipe to use for Thanksgiving. I’ll definitely use this recipe because it was delicious. By the way, I have an old salad spinner that works wonders for draining the liquid and then, because i included vegan chicken flavor w/ the hot water, I mixed that liquid in a gravy recipe. Win/win day.
I'm in Canada and I looked for soy curls recently. Walmart carries them, but they have to be ordered online. I believe the 8 oz. bags are around $7.99. Amazon Carries them, but the 8oz. bag is 15.99!!! There is a Canadian vegan online store that carries them around the $7.99 mark, but shipping costs are added to that. In the end I found a local health food store that sells them for $6.99! My search is over.
On a video, they removed the powder at the bottom of the bag of soy curls using a strainer to take out that nasty soy taste. I tried this and it works. Thanks for the great recipes. I can't wait to try that instant pot "chicken" soup/stew.
I am new to vegan cooking and saw these soy curls on Simnett nutrition. Your channel came on my feed. I am going to buy these as I do like tofu I think the texture will be same. Your calm demeanor & explaining all kind of options peaked my interest. I will be checking your playlist for other recipes and subcribing. Thanks Kathy.
I’ve been vegetarian since I was nine-years old. Because of this, I don’t have nostalgia about things that I don’t even remember eating. I say this because I don’t really know what chicken taste like. I use a mixture of flour and Tajin powder spice, not the liquid.
Hi! Just found your channel. Love your shirt, and your hair and your personality is awesome. Thank you for being so informative about what these are and ways to use them. I'm just starting to change to plant-based for me and my fam of five... and I have no idea what I am doing. 😵💫
Found soy curls a few months ago and love finding great new recipes like yours. Here in Hawaii, Down to Earth sells the Butler brand in bulk. Recently, I started thinking about how the water used to replenish them changes color ... and started wondering if there was any nutrient loss happening. Do you know if I can use the water/broth used to replenish soy curls for cooking something else?
For anybody that can afford to buy these butler soy curls, if you have a Patel Brothers store near you they sell soya chunks as a substitute, which are the same, and much 😊cheaper.
I got a new one at Costco. It's a Sur La Table, but Instant has one that's the same. We still have the Breville and the Phillips too. Are you looking to get one?

@@KathyHesterVeganRecipes my local store is called The Peanut Mill
There is a health store in Ottawa that does mail orders. I had previously had problems finding them. Natures food pantry. Good price too
Hi Kathy, great recipes! If no one’s mentioned it, you can buy Butler Soy Curls at Natural Grocers ☺️
Thanks for the tip!
That’s where I get them. They offer free shipping with a minimal amount.
Butlers are the best.

That yellow strainer is rlly cool
You are such a pleasure to watch ms I love all your positivity and reassuring.
Hi Kathy! This is Vi from Rockland County, NY! I have never tried soy curls, but I must! It looks like chicken! Thanks for this video! ❤
Why didn’t you premix your dried ingredients before putting them on the soy curls? Less mixing required.
Correct
Love using soy curls! I make my husband jerky with them, they're his favorite 💛
Would love that recipe!

That’s where I saw them originally too. I’m buying them by the case now. 🤣🤣🤣

The texture is more chewy than tofu more like meat.
I just saw them on simnet nutrition too
You must be a teacher in real life, great video! I felt like I was in your kitchen just learning! Great Job!
Wow, thank you!
Spice game is lit!! Now you making me want to go out and look for stuff 🙂🙂

You are so sweet and I'm so glad to have you in class
Going to try soy curls....thx 4 the tutorial...have all your books! Glad I found your channel!

Thank You for another great video
Hi Kathy, love soy curls; been ordering them from Butler for about 3 years. Thanks for the delicious recipes; stay safe.
Lately I have been getting more small pieces than large ones and more crumbs in my bags, even the ones I ordered directly from Butler itself.
They are perfect for tacos and "ground" dishes.
I stumbled on your video. Love the attitude and you inspired me to try soy curl
Yay!
Thanks! I just got my first order and wanted some guidance. (Also, you have the same Spaghetti Monster strainer we have, yay!)
😍
I think I know you from Chef AJ. 😀 I appreciate the info on the newer model Instant Pot, and I love your “make it work for you” approach.
Looove chef aj. She’s unbelievable and has been vegan for a loooong time. She glows.
I squeeze my soy curls in a nut bag.
Yes, I think that should work. But for me that would be harder to clean up as you'll get little pieces stuck int he bag.
Where did you get your awesome strainer/ colander???!!!! I love it!!!

I'll check at ours, and if they have them I can do a comparison. Are they non-gmo or organic?
I love this! I've filled in your form twice, but still am not receiving the PDF with the recipes. What do I do now? Thanks!!!
Email me at kathyhester@gmail.com and tell me which recipes. Was it the spice blends or something else.
Thank you so much!!!
Hello Kathy👋,
Could the water left after soaking the curls be used in a recipe like vegan Alfredo sauce or should we discard it?
Great question. I want to know also.
I wondered also and used the water in a gravy recipe recently. Worked well.
I usually discard it, but you could use it in gravies, soups, or stews.
@7:16 I've never heard of 'chicken wood'. Don't have any idea what that looks like.

What is the oven temp, please?
If I remember I think 375
Thinking of cheating in the effort of the last recipe. You could use canned potatoes.
What air fryer/toaster oven are you using now?

Yes, you are right
You suport the company no matter where you buy their products. This person is not a real vegan.
It will hell if you go to the recipe sooner .
13:00 You just used so many spices for those handful of soy curls in such insanely high amounts, it is not even economical anymore.
You are more than welcome to tweak any of my recipes to fit your taste. But I will say the spices make this recipe in my opinion.
@@KathyHesterVeganRecipes I agree. I love soy curls but they offer texture, not flavor. We have to season them in order for them to have flavor.
