The entire Nidarosdomen concert is incredibly beautifull.
Murder song - Nobel Prize concert
    It happened quiet - Current
    Lucky - Nidarosdomen
    Runaway - official video

    • @Geralt26
      @Geralt26 Před 3 lety +5

Agree with version, although I still prefer Runaway live from Nobel Prize Concert and I recommended this one over official video (but of course video . Too be honest most songs I prefer from live version. There some exclusions like Daydreamer official video which I love (it fits mood of the song ideally) and maybe Seed.
For other songs in addition for this from TT TT post I today like or would like to see reaction for:
      - Churchyard (KEXP live)
      - Little Boy in the Grass (from Nidarosdomen as great version or from Mahogany Sessions as more raw),
      - Awakening (live on TV Norway 2014 as I think her first performance in TV?) - it is less know song but for me great
      - Running with the wolves (there are many great live versions hard to choose it can be even original video)
      - I went too far (Honda live)
Ok I dont want to list all songs these up are what comes to me now when I wrote it :). For me it changes with time as it is very hard to categorise them in order (from best to worse).
For covers i also love f.e.:
      - Teardrop (for "Like A Version")
      - God is woman (as far i know made in less then hour in radio challenge)
Ps. Better not try to react unreleased "Why did you want to go" as it is very emotional unless you will take risk to cry during. It was composed only for one purpose and she sang it on funeral and it is very personal (and at first it was not intended even to put audio on youtube).

The best pronunciation of Nidarosdomen from a non-norwegian i ever have heard. The whole concert from Nidarosdomen, a cathedral in Trondheim, is magical. Performing with TrondheimSolistene, Oslo Fagottkor, organist Petra Bjørkhaug, harpist Ruth Potter and her own band. She have many amazing live-sessions, but one favorite for many is It Happened Quiet "-Live at Current". Beautiful harmonies with guitarist Silja Sol. czcams.com/video/9U-N6LqzdIM/video.html

Thank you for your reaction and thoughts. Aurora was, and is, a dancer indeed. So many wonderful Aurora songs to recommend, and I'm sure most have been suggested already, but here goes: It Happened Quiet (at The Current), Infections of a Different Kind (HAIK), 'Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1)' at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, Dance on the Moon (live), The River, A Different Kind of Human (Christines radiofestival), and on and on.
I very much second the Susanne Sundfør suggestion - Undercover (the live, black and white version) would be amazing to see a reaction to on your channel. She has won the Norwegian equivalent of the Grammy five times, and very much influenced the current group of singer-songwriters. And she's only 35...

Aurora is delicate, deep, sweet, very expressive, emotional and performative and adorable. Despite the different style of music, her style reminds me of Kate Bush in her early career. In fact, the two approached the same theme and made two beautiful songs about "seeing the world through the eyes of a child". Kate Bush with: The man whit child in hisc eyes, and Aurora with: Throught eyes of a child. They are truly two wonderful divas.

  • @TomTomson81
    @TomTomson81 Před 3 lety +12

She is now well known not only in norway. Her song Runaway has over 100million views on youtube. She is what one calls a human in the best possible sense and a real empathy. She is also very introverted, says what she thinks, is very funny, only wants the best for the world and is close to nature. She is a singer, songwriter and producer. She wrote her first songs in Norwegian when she was 6 years old. During this time she also played the piano for the first time. When she was 9 she wrote her songs in English. It was not until she was 15 that her parents discovered her talent. At a school performance she sang her first song of her own. It was secretly filmed and it was put online. A record company noticed her and made her an offer. She refused. She never wanted to become famous or a star. Her mother convinced her to share her music with others. It would be selfish to keep her talent to yourself. The rest is history. Aurora grew up very sheltered and free. She loves solitude and nature. She hated her first 100 concerts because she didn't get along well with so many people who were all watching. But now she loves it. There is a little story to describe how emphatic she is. Aurora thought about death very intensely from a young age. She doesn't celebrate her birthdays because that's another year closer to death. She once had a teddy bear when she was little and became very sad. She was wondering what would happen to the teddy bear once she died. Then he would be all alone in the world.
Usually everyone dances to the music. At Aurora you get the impression that the music is dancing with her. She feels what she is singing and it shows in her body language. Introverts use body language whether they like it or not. Aurora's are very intense. You notice that more clearly in other songs where they seem even more uncontrolled. Many people assume that she has an illness. It is not so. It only relieves extreme tension.

    @WhiteTiger333 Před 3 lety +1

She always completely disappears into her songs and sings with her whole body. All of her songs are story songs - the stories of our lives. And her very recent performances show just how much she is changing, deepening in voice power and inner light. She is very well respected in Norway. I had read that the historic Nidarosdomen is normally NOT used as a music venue. But she was invited to give that Christmas concert to a sold out audience. (She was 21 at that performance).
She was very surprised to find, back when she was first starting out as a publicly known singer, that she was enormously popular in Brazil. They made the heart connection in an instant! She has been high on the charts on their popular radio for some years now, while none of her music is played on American pop radio.

    Wonderful reaction!
Aurora is the total package - singer, songwriter, musician, dancer, producer/arranger, choreographer, and an absolutely lovely human being (and she’s just 24 years old!). She will often perform her songs quite differently - sometimes with her band, other times stripped down to just her and one instrument, a cappella, with full orchestra, etc. - so it is definitely worth listening to different versions of the same song. Also, some of her videos are mini-masterpieces as well.
A short list of original songs:
Runaway - Nobel Peace Prize concert and her music video
Through the Eyes of a Child - Nidarosdomen concert, my recommendation Live Stripped - VIVO UK Lift: czcams.com/video/CFzExUN1N8I/video.html
It Happened Quiet - Nidarosdomen concert, but I'd recommend the live at The Current version as well: czcams.com/video/9U-N6LqzdIM/video.html
    Churchyard - Live on KEXP
Winter Bird - Nidarosdomen concert and her music video
Murder Song 5,4,3,2,1 - Nobel Peace Prize Concert
    Lucky - Nidarosdomen concert
Little Boy in the Grass - Nidarosdomen concert
The Seed - Music Video, HAIK Concert
The River - Music video, Live in Bergen 2020
Exist For Love - Music video,
    Daydreamer - Music video
She also does some awesome covers:
Life on Mars - David Bowie
    Believer - Imagine Dragons
God is a Woman - Ariana Grande
Across the Universe - John Lennon
    Teardrop - Massive Attack

Great reaction! I subscribed after hearing AURORA and your commentary. Her unique and soothing voice puts me into a trance-like state and produces alpha waves in my mind. She is a mesmerizing storyteller, takes the listener on a journey, and already has quite a repertoire for someone who is currently just 24. She composes her own music (has done so since age 6, and poetry and lyrics in English beginning at age 9). I recommend other songs from the Nidaros concert, as well as various live performances: HAIK 2019 (in a forest); KEXP in Iceland (2018) with Bjork in the audience); AURORA Live at the Current, and others you will see in the comments. She has quite a following, not just in Scandinavia, but in a number of countries, (Brazil, Japan and the UK come to mind). She has three albums out, and plans to release another this year.

She is like that in everything she does. It's a singularity. Try Lucky from the same concert, or the Vivo version of The Seed. Another good one is Murder Song from the Nobel Peace Prize concert. She always performs live in new ways that are totally professional. Even covers are done uniquely, such as God is a Woman at a radio station.

Wow. Thanks for a great reaction to Aurora. You know, I'm ALMOST jealous of you, that this is your first time hearing her. Myself, I've been aware of her since she was 14 (she's 24 now btw, turning 25 in two months) and just can't get enough of her. All those things that you commented on are really quintessential to her, both as an artist and as a person. In many ways, she and Angelina share SO many traits. And what you say about us scandinavians are also very true. Way cool to hear about your ancestry, too. I don't think I have commented to you before, but I have been a subscriber for quite some time, and I'm loving your insight/knowledge. And we share opinion on the topic of Simon you-know-who. Lol If you want to listen to more from her, that whole concert from the Nidarosdomen Cathedral is a perfect start. Also her live concert at KEXP in Iceland is great, where you can see another, more lively version of her as well. Her way of dancing is off the charts imo. But in short, you won't finf anything about her that isn't totally captivating and I dare say hypnotic.
Anyway, thanks again for your reaction(s) and have a great weekend. Kind regards from a rapidly thawing Norway.

Aurora has inspired alot af people, Katy Perry, Doja cat, and Amy Lee have all spoken highly of Aurora. And Billie Eilish has credited Auroras music video- Runaway, as the thing that inspired her to pursue a music career of her own. I recomend you react to Auroras song- It happened quiet (live at the current) next. 😊

She is not a child, but 22 years here! And today she is in top 20 Spotify Global today. AURORA, is a Norwegian singer and songwriter.(From the same country as Angelina Jordan). Among artists and in the music industry the Norwegian singer AURORA is synonymous with quality, and she can fill a record with masterpieces time and time again. Many others are glad they manage one hit. Billie Eilish said in an interview that it was AURORA that made her become an artist and were inspired after listen to Aurora. She is a true genius artist who does not make plastic / bikini music, but is true to real creative art.

Yes, physicality is a hallmark of Aurora's performances but she is an excellent dancer with some training (see Apple Tree video) and Conqueror on Jimmy Fallon. Many mistake her gestures to be something random, but they are intentional either directing her band, or matching movement to lyrics (running, for example).

Thanks for a great reaction to our second Norwegian gem, Aurora!
She's just a wonder. Composer, singer, producer, dancer, environmentalist. Wrote her first song at the age of 9.
Fun fact, her song 'Runaway', that she wrote at the age of 11, and were released in 2015, now is a global hit, 6 years after it was released.
You can't really go wrong with any of her songs (or the covers she has done), but her live performances are always fantastic. I would recommend 'Murder song' from the Nobel Peace Price concert (she was 19) or 'It happened quit' from The current. Both songs just her and another on guitar (and backup vocals).
She has a huge fanbase worldwide, maybe not so known in the US, but that might change now.

There are others of us who see a comparison between Hua Hua and Aurora. Not only the hand movements but something soulful. I'm putting it out to the universe to have Hua Hua and Aurora sing this song together as well as his song Giant Deer, which reminds me very much of this song. I really love Aurora's The Seed Music Video. Very much the direction Hua Hua has been taking as far as the environment as well. Crystal children.

At Nidarosdomen (aged 21) Aurora was a vision from a Botticelli masterpiece and modestly confident. Go back to 2015 to the Nobel Peace Prize concert, where she was a shy 19 (she was so nervous at the press conference she took a pine cone with her for company and to keep her grounded) and watch "Runaway" which she wrote when she was just 11 (czcams.com/video/Fc7XWW_Ehb8t/video.html). Then move forward to the HAIK concert 2019 (filmed in the forest where Aurora played during her childhood) and you will see the forest spirit that you mentioned and a very confident performer enjoying herself and dancing with "Daydreamer" ( czcams.com/video/XH-Pd8hYSoA/video.html). Finally, look at some of her interview clips (czcams.com/video/exskKp5j2-c/video.html) and recent podcasts to see what an amazing, very individualistic personality Aurora is. All of these will enchant you as much as this first contact with her. Enjoy discovering the many faceted Aurora.

Aurora will be 25 in June, although she remains child-like. She sure taps into that awe and wonder, but she also projects ancient spirituality and wisdom. Have you reacted to her performance of “Runaway”? She's absolutely physically spent after that one.
