He's only 30 lol. Let's not pretend like the Lakers are 100% locked in keeping players longer than 4 years. Caruso, THT, KCP, Monk, Malik Beasley were all younger. And even now, DLo & Rui are younger but how's that working out for them with there names being constantly on the trading block looking for a trade?... They idea that the Lakers truly want younger players for long-term is just misdirection to a problem that they've never had. Truth is Lakers are content being a borderline playoff team relying on the heroics of a 40yo to gain any possible traction. Two 1st rd picks doesn't mean the Lakers are smart enough to select the right players anyway, also it's not that difficult to just buy a 1st rd pick for cash considerations either. Teams that are making real efforts to "win now" do not care much about draft picks they'd rather have 33yo veteran like Grant that already knows how to play in the NBA and knows his role... I'm convinced the Lakers just teeter the line with waiting to get any deals done because they'd rather make excuses on why they didn't do a deal. There is no haymaker of a deal that can or will be made. Only deals they can make will just make them marginally better to be at most a legit 3rd or 4th seed that can competitively compete with a #1 or #2 seed. Rn Lakers are in #6-#9 seed range and can honestly fall to #10 or #11 seed depending on the year and injuries. Seems like Lakers are okay with that over giving up a couple future 1st rd picks. This is not a committed organization. They don't know how to capitalize on what they currently have smh.

Rui can’t handle in traffic he turns the ball over anytime he tries to do anything outside of your basic 3&D skill set. I’m not saying he can’t get better but he’s like 6”8 he’s not going to learn to handle as well as LeBron overnight so it’s going to be hard for him to become the player we would all like him to be on this lakers roster he also has a some lateral quickness issues on defense for his age.
There's probably going to be 5-6 teams deciding to tank (during the season) going after a chance for Flagg. That would be a better time for a trade.
Tanking doesn't mean teams give away good players at a discounted rate. There's alot of other ways to generate losses, like: not calling timeouts, calling timeouts at bad times that benefit the other team, poor rotations, poor match-ups, and expirementing with different personnel. Tanking teams have all the options possible available to them. It's only when they get a guy like Cooper Flagg and know what he's capable of is when they start trying to actually make moves to win games. Just look at the Spurs with Wemby they basically tanked with him the first year, just so they can have a solid young core. Now this season, they've added a guy like CP3 who is 100% NOT about to allow any tanking and Harrison Barnes another solid veteran that knows how to play the right way. Won't be surprised if they make a blockbuster trade for a borderline star
If they can get Grant and Timelord from Blazers that would be a big boost to our roster..

Rui is a PF which basically makes him LeBron's backup. He's capable of being a starter but, in the Lakers lineup if you do you play him out of position at SF. Then he doesn't look that great defensively.
I glad that Pelinka "balked" at the proposed deal. Two first round draft picks? For a player...yes, nice...in his mid thirties? Absolutely not. The only reason why teams come at the Lakers like this is because they know that LeBron keeps pressure on any team he's on to upgrade the roster, how he see's fit. LeBron does NOT value young players, or picks. This kind of stuff was more palatable, with a younger LeBron. With a LeBron at the end of his career? No sir.
Upgrade the roster if you can. Of course. But, not by overpaying, or sacrificing the future of the team. That's just self destructive.

@@wills.9422 I'm a 76ers fan for 1. The other thing is because Vando was hurt, Rui was a better starting option than Prince or Cam playing 30 mins at the 3. In an ideal role, you have a stronger wing defender at the 3 hence why the comment wants Rui to get better defensively.

If its possible to trade with Dennis Schroder & Cam Johnshon with 1 1st rd pick for Rui & Dlo and get Wendall Carter Jr for another 1st rd pick then i think it's a good off season for the lakers

With Tyus Jones off the board, I don’t see trading Dlo’s value on offense (top tier playmaking and shooting) to be easily replaced.

Coaching was inconsistent with using the talent correctly in lineups, roles, and making game to game adjustments
Players availability from injuries as well as being not put in position to be successful and productivity were lacking.
JJ is coming in with new ideas, views, and using of the talent in more successful ways needs to be seen
