UPDATE: A little late, but better late than never. Happy to report that this won 1st Place in the Romance category for SacAnime Summer 2018. I'll say this is really good compensation after this fell out in this years' Fanime and Anime Expo events. Last year, I fell just short finishing in 2nd with my Kirito X Asuna - "Be With You" AMV. I'm glad this AMV allowed me to secure that top spot for real this time around. Then again, I'm not concerned about winning or losing. I'd like to be a part of the turnaround in bringing back more R&B to AMVs. Who knows? Maybe I'll remove the training wheels off and allow the mainstream hits to be involved. But, I'll see how it goes.
UPDATE: For the 2nd straight year in a row, #AMVsWithSoul makes its presence felt in the Romance category for the SacAnime Summer 18 AMV Contest. I'm happy to announce that this AMV is a finalist. "Queen" succeeds last year's entries: "Let Me Be Your Today" and "Be With You (2nd place winner)" for the contest. Aiming for higher though so stay tuned.

The long-awaited sixth installment of the #AMVsWithSoul project. I finally got around to watch "Your Name" over the past month and I gotta say, it was an amazing film and definitely lived up to its reputation as one of (and I mean "one of" before I get flamed) the best Anime films in this decade. It was really high on my board when coming up with the sixth installment of my #AMVsWithSoul series. And when it comes to making an R&B AMV like this, definitely a household artist was needed and who better than Ne-Yo. I've had my ears on "Queen" since the end of last year. It's a solid ballad for the historical film, "The Birth of a Nation" directed by Nate Parker. Coincidentally, both that film and "Your Name" released in the same year and both were talked about as Oscar nominees during that time, even though they ultimately didn't make it. You can say there was a lot of prestige riding on this AMV with that kind of information. When it came to making this, it had to be as slow and simple of a pace as possible with some development here and there to paint a solid, compelling story on Taki X Mitsuha. I think I might've utilized Ne-Yo in a special way for R&B ballad purposes drawing back to my Subaru X Rem AMV back in February. I stressed that #AMVsWithSoul will stay away from big names, but I've liberated that idea just a little bit over the past months. Anyway, enjoy the video.
#AMVsWithSoul is an ambitious project of mine to bring the R&B genre over to the modern AMV game. It is also an opportunity for me as a video editor to edit videos using a genre that is like near and dear to me. The catch here is that I'm steering away from the popular mainstream R&B music (for now). Instead, I'm giving unreleased or under-the-radar R&B songs & snippets that I've scouted across the Web the opportunity to shine in my AMVs. Some of the artists of the songs just might surprise you or getting yourself to say "wow, I didn't know this song existed."

Thanks. Glad you liked the song too. Everybody knows Ne-Yo's timeless hits, but he has a lot of songs out there that not a lot of people know about. That's pretty much my purpose: showcasing those "diamond in the rough" songs in my AMVs and of course to bring R&B AMVs back.
As far as SacAnime Winter 2019, I may be in attendance, but I won't compete in the AMV contest unfortunately. I do have plans to shoot for Fanime and AX 2019 though. As usual, I won't give out too many details on what's next for #AMVsWithSoul.
MechG2994 I’ll be attending AX 2019 and it’s AMV competition next year, I hope to see some of your work make it in. Do you have any song or artist recommendations in the R&B genre?
@@Veranze I actually submitted this AMV for AX 2018, but too bad it got voted out. Definitely hoping I make it in this time. Definitely my main two recommendations for R&B music are Ne-Yo and Mario. They're actually the staples of my AMV series. Both of them came out with new albums this year. Ne-Yo with Good Man and Mario with Dancing Shadows. But of course, nothing compared to their work in the 2000s. If you want to go to a current breakout artist, I'd recommend Ella Mai. She's currently blowing up in the R&B genre with "Boo'd Up" and "Trip." Recently I saw that one of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure's endings had Jodeci playing in the background. I also recommend listening to them if you want to go old school. There's a ton of artists out there from old school to mainstream.
