The Festival of Sant'Antonio Comes to My Village!

There are no January blues here as January 17th is the festa of Sant'Antonio, the patron Saint of domestic pets! For the first time in many years, my village decided to host this event and I was asked to be part of the procession, traditionally led by oxen. There were also lots of cute animals ready to be blessed by our Priest! I then witnessed the amazing "Farchie" in Far Filiorum Petri, a spectacular tradition mixing Pagan and Catholic rituals.

I know, it’s such a shame that things like this don’t happen anymore. I guess it’s a combination of health & safety, the weather and the reduced importance of the Church
