  • Join us for a special CMC bike tour where we'll delve into the history of Greg's Honda CL350 K3 motorcycle and its rich family legacy. This tour stands out from our previous ones as this CL350 is a single-owner motorcycle, cherished and handed down from father to son across three generations.
Deeply intertwined with Greg's family history, this motorcycle has seen numerous transformations over the past 50-plus years. From meticulous maintenance in its early days to careful restoration as it transitioned into the vintage category, and now being ridden as a true classic, this CL350 K3 has experienced it all.
This is more than just a motorcycle tour; it's a celebration of family, heritage, and the timeless appeal of the Honda CL350.

Love it. My CL 350 I got from a friend, gave to my grandfather on fathers day 1996 and then was my son's first bike in 2017. It's never leaving the family. Thank you Common Motor for helping us keep it running.

Nice. I am currently restoring a 72 cl 350 that I’ve owned since the early 80s. Can’t wait to finish it.

Also in Richmond VA. With a 70 and 73 CB450 and a 78 CB750. In 1971 a junior in high school needed a ride to/from work so I picked her up on a 68 CB350. We celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary this summer. Neat motorcycles and Common Motor is helping keep these vintage bikes (and vintages folks like me) going!

Reminds me of myself riding my 76’ CB400F all year long to prove to Dad it was a good idea lol. I’d be frozen the first hour of school. Beautiful bike and gorgeous color, the scramblers are so sharp. Bikes are very sentimental to me as well, thanks for sharing.

I decided to post my own comment to address the open questions posed and provide additional information. Here goes……
CMC is correct on the luggage rack being a “Triple A”. It is stamped on the rack and came with the bike when Dad bought it.
The mufflers are from CMC and I followed Brenden’s advice and packed a heavy duty SS pot scrubber steel wool in the front end to mellow the sound. I also packed on top of that heavy duty Bronze wool from the marine section of the local hardware store. Very satisfied with the result.
I agree with everyone who likes the color, as the bike is very appealing - much more so that the Candy Topaz Orange. But, again, this decision and choice was my son’s. He put 1,700 miles on the bike in the last half of his Senior year. He is an exclusive rider of m/c in L.A. for 20+ years and has logged more miles that me. His sister is also a m/c rider (Ducati).
Items I forgot to mention in the first restoration (1995)…. redid the brake shoes, new clutch plates.
Items I forgot to mention from CMC aside from yellow wire conversion, rectifier, and Shockwave ignition…. New rims and spokes, new original style mirrors, new fuel valve, new battery and tank mounting rubber retainer, have new sprockets and chain for next time the wheels are off.

Most important aspect of this vid is the strong family connection. 72 CB350, 93 XL250l 99 ZRX 1100- 92 Sportster 1200 -- My son grew up with these and now rides all of them.
My wife asks from time to time "can we sell a few" -- I just tell he I will sell you before I sell a bike.
Also CMC is a great source of parts and information.

That's a fantastic story about Greg's family's history with that sweet CL 350.
Hey Greg - before you leave us for CA, you should ride the CL to one of the CMC / Bohemeo's get-togethers.

I had one of those... that I brought back from my time in the Army in Japan. It was a year old when I got it from a guy who was being shipped out, but the local (Fukuoka, Japan) Honda SF had replaced the engine under warranty -- I actually had to complete the break-in, so I had a '71 in 1972 with a brand-new engine. Yes, t had a small-bulb (replaceable) headlight and no kill switch, but otherwise the same as a US model.
I had the rank, so I had it shipped home and picked it up in Bayonne, NJ. Mine was also "Candy Apple Topaz" color, but I really liked it! That was my only vehicle after just getting out of the Army, and I drove the bejeezus out of it, including through two snowstorms in NH that winter. It was then that I bought a 1972 Blazer (which I kept on the road for over 30 years).
The CL350? A kid I worked with kept after me to sell it to him, over weeks and weeks. Finally I gave him a price that was, I figured, too high ($500 in 1973), but damned if he didn't come up with the money, so I sold it to him. Been kicking myself ever since; as far as I know he didn't have it long before he wrecked it and, though I searched for it for quite some time, I never found it.
I now have in my collection what I'd consider a poor substitute, a 1975 CB360T. Still miss that 350!!

An extremely nice job on your dad's CL350 !
I say that to the both of you !
I know what kind of job that is !
Unfortunately, due to a careless driver,
I am paralyzed from my neck down.
    ( not on a motorcycle )
    However,
I have since purchased a 1965 Honda 305 Dream as a basket case project !
    As a result,
I have been looking for just the right
guy/guys to take on my passion project !
So, here is my very significant question !
Would you have any time and interest in taking on my Honda 305 Dream ?
If you would have the interest in, and willingness in doing it, please get back to me.
    My name is Ray,
Respond back to me here first, and we will move forward from there gentlemen !
    And,
    thank you in advance !
    Ray

    Awesome
? Where did you get the luggage rack. I have a 1970 cb350 and cannot find a luggage rack that will adapt. Have tried many but no luck

    • @Common-motor
      @Common-motor  Před 5 měsíci

I believe Greg has an old Triple-A luggage rack. Back then, Triple A made bolt now racks for all of the vintage Hondas but today most racks you will find will need to be customized and have a few brackets made to fit. You can see how his hooks up to the shock nuts and braces onto the rear fender taillight mounts. This is usually the easiest way to set up one now to carry small things on. If you want to carry more than 20-30 lbs, you will need to think of a few other ways to brace and mount additional supports to your frame.

I have two I bought last September (9/01/23) from a guy who butchered one and called the other a "parts bike". After three month work and the help and support of Common Motor, both are running like new, or maybe better and still have their original points ignition

I appreciate the story. Please consider ducking the music track more, assuming you need a rock concert still playing in the background for whatever reason. Your editor should know what that means.

Cool bike. Wasn't allowed to have a motorcycle in college? Uh, if you are 18 or older, only you make that decision.
