  • My BMW 2014 328i Window switch had a broken mirror control. After considering paying up to $600 for a dealer replacement, I found the part for $38 online and switched it myself. After watching 50 videos that were older BMW models, there was no video showing how to get the switch out And replaced. So I did it. And here is the video. Let me know if you have questions. You can do it to.

    Thank you. First my fuse 22 was blown. Replaced it. And worked for a minute or two then died again. But the fuses are still good. So I think it's this control. I'll check ALL fuses again before ordering the part

    Not fun to identify the right switch. In fact it might be easier to remove it first so you can check the OEM part # and how many pins go to the wiring harness, which is what some aftermarket switch makers use to differentiate between different options. From what I can tell an f30 can have rear window shades, some have retractable mirrors and some don’t. I have the exact same one this guy has and it is a six pin model. I have no idea if I have ordered the correct one-it was like $30-I get it today, so we’ll see. I was going to eliminate risk and buy OEM from the local BMW parts shop to get it a little faster and make sure it works thinking if it was less than $200 it’d be worth it, but when I called to get a price they quoted something north of $350.00 so I’m risking the Amazon switch. You can buy durable body pry tools on Amazon for like $9.00. I think you could also do it with poly-coated or stiff nylon/polymer bike tire irons. Be aware it’s going to feel like you’re going to break something when removing it. The key is to get space under it on the side to fit a tool under the front, pry the front up and then pull up and forward
    I had the same exact problem you had with his mirrors but got unlucky because I had my window rolled down to adjust the messed up mirror. ….and I live in Oregon….and it rains….and I don’t have a garage. Fortunately a family member let me take their condo garage parking till I can fix it.
    Thanks for the video to confirm how to do this.

    For this part, I ended purchasing this part through Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XDY5X16/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
    It is important to get the exact switch for your particular car.

      What you will notice about this switch is it is a switch for a 528i... so BMW dealers sometimes put higher end parts in lower end cars. You have to find your specific part, and only a visual check is the only way to figure this out.

    link to the part you bought please?

      This is the link to the part I bought. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XDY5X16/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Here is the title: Bapmic 61319241955 Front Left Master Power Window Switch for BMW F07 F10 F06 F25 X3. I see it there for $39.99. You have to find the one that fits. You need to be really careful. For instance, though I have a 2014 BMW 328i, the one that was installed in my car was more for a 500 series or 700 series. So just buying whatever that Amazon or another site says to buy may be a little off. Also, you have to make sure you get the passenger side only. Best to compare the physical device in the picture to what you have in your car. Good luck if you have not yet done it.

      My issue was I lost control of the mirror at times, up and down and then the mirror button broke and was lose with no mirror control. I could control the windows.

      Same for me. I was trying to free up anything that might be blocking the switch and then the whole switch broke.

    How’d you pop it iff

    • @DanielGudema
      @DanielGudema  Před rokem

      You probably already did this, but I worked it slowly popping it out, and did not break the plastic hinges, but even if you do, it's fine, because you need to pop the new one back in there.

    NEVER use a metal too to remove trim ! While you are it change that worn door handle looks ugly

      I have not put a video together but I was able to buy low cost covers for all the parts that are disintegrating plastic, so the best answer for that area is to buy those exact handle covers that solve that problem.
