d:matcha 2021 First Flush - Harvesting green tea at Harayama, Wazuka Town

On the 30th of April we harvested the first sencha of 2021 from our organic tea field in Harayama. Harayama is located in Wazuka Town, Kyoto Prefecture, and has a reputation amongst the locals as being extremely steep. Thus this mountainous terrain made harvesting from these fields a challenge.
While we tried our best to use the harvesting machine, we eventually ended up handpicking most of the leaves...watch the video to find out how this went!
