One thing is she does all of the easy stuff most folks neglect. Swells inflection expressiveness emotions etc. That's effort and work. Anybody can do that. I'd play this for any up and comer. You can hear this woman practicing incessantly. Then there's talent too. Lots of stuff others just ain't got the pipes for. I might not play this for aspiring singers. I'm going to playing my horn.

I'll admit I'm not familiar with her catalog of covers, so I can't form a broad or informed opinion, but I saw that she did excellent covers of Through the Fire, Better Days, Fly Me to the Moon, Fallin, Officially Missing You. Please check those out (the most recent performances). She's also a very soulful, expressive, and captivating performer. And that band!

If you are looking for someone with great belting, but who can also sing delicately and with emotion, and has tremendous range, I would recommend Jona Viray, also from the Philippines. This is a perfect example of that mixture, accompanied only by a piano--I don't understand the words but emotion comes through (on CZcams):

Kaye Ballard and Frank Sinatra, in particular, would be very proud that the song they first popularized is still being sung by a new generation of great singers like Gigi De Lana. I'm sure Ballard and Sinatra would enjoy De Lana's unique interpretation of the song. In my arrogant opinion, however, I think De Lana's version of it is the best so far.

Like you I hadn't heard of GiGi De Lana (sounds like a stage name) until recently, maybe a couple months ago, even though I watch a lot of Filipino singers. It's like she came out of nowhere, unless she was an actress before--I don't know much about her. I didn't realize she was such a stylist, and versatile--just going by her more limited, traditional performance on ASAP, her voice did not quite measure up to some of the other young singers as far as smoothness and tone, but apparently it's better suited to other genres. She's also very cute, like you, which will help her success.
