  • I went down to the Oxfordshire mansion on Phyllis the Suzuki FL125 Address. You've got to have a mini adventure sometimes!

    I have a 2004 Honda Innova 125 cc ( carb model ) similar motorcycle . It still in good condition & runs as sweet as a nut . I find i use it more than my larger bikes . It likes 40 - 55 mph ,I took it up to about 63 on clock on a couple of occasions ,with my 18 stone ,a top box & rack ,rack on step through area ,& front Honda wave basket fitted . Riders who are lighter than me have had them up to 70 on clock in a slip stream . I don’t see the point in murdering a good reliable bike & friend ,they weren’t built for speed . The Address was later turned into a twist & go scooter instead of a step thru cub type motorcycle / scooter hybrid . I believe your address was geared different to the Innova , which gave some benefits in some situations ,but less than the Innova in others . I always find the Hondas & Suzukis equally reliable & never had one break down in over 50 years of riding both large & small Hondas & Suzukis . 👍

    Nice ride Jim. It reminded me of going to Rugby and back from Romford, Essex (3 or 4 times) on my 125cc Vespa T5 Mk1.
    All on A roads as I had "L" plates at the time. Something like 135 miles each way. The worst part was having to go into London from the right hand side, and back out again at the top (that's looking at London and the M25 on a map). North out of London, through St. Albans, pick up the A5, and just keep going. About 103/105 miles using the M25 and M1, FFS.

      I think it's a different attitude when you're forced to ride a tiddler, when you do it for fun it becomes an adventure. I was actually held up on the way home by a V12 Mercedes doing less than 50mph, I just didn't have the extra poke to get past. I thoroughly enjoyed myself otherwise.

      @@iamthefatstig. Mercedes drivers. What the heck can be done about them? Proper morons, they are either speeding around shouting abuse at everyone, or just posing in a posh car saying "Everyone look at me in my Mercedes", and getting in the ruddy way. (Oi, Eddie! Jim's got Slinky the Mercedes, you fe(king idiot).
      Soooo, as I was saying. Mercedes drivers. Salt of the earth them people are. You've just got to love them...

    Why do I hear the engine shift on an automatic scooter?

    • @iamthefatstig
      @iamthefatstig  Před 2 měsíci

      It isn't automatic. It has a four-speed gearbox (all down) with a centrifugal clutch. Below about 3000rpm the clutch disengages.

      @@iamthefatstig how does shifting work? Release gas and turn left handle to change gear?

    • @RogierYou
      @RogierYou Před 2 měsíci

      I just read the specs in the Dutch website and it reads that it has a CVT

      @@RogierYou release gas, traditional foot lever. The first motion of the gear lever disengages the clutch, the gear goes in then when you take your foot pressure off it reengages the clutch. I’ll do a video for you.
