Purely based on the comments on Instagram and CZcams, I am going to make a very rough and uncertain assumption of Dante's POV. He's addicted. To what? In MY POV, In a very twisted and unhealthy way, to the pain and hunger to prove himself and being alone. He's made it his identity from his past relationship's that he's the underdog, the one always being done dirty. He has a very heavy chip on his shoulder. So, he uses his career, League, and gym be his crutches. From OUR POV, he seems like he has everything. Good career, good physique, good girlfriend. But that chip on his shoulder still there, and everything he has now feels TOO comfortable. So, in order to return to the place he knows, he self-sabotages. In a weirdly funny way, he has become his own Sisyphus. He himself has cursed himself to continue rolling the boulder right at the top, only for it to roll back down. He may not have realized it, but he's too comfortable in his past pain. If he continues this path, he'll sabotage everything he's ever worked for in his life. All this being said, he is a grown man, and he knew what he was doing, so people should respect his decision.

I genuinely don't understand why he gets hate for the break up, its his choice and we aren't family members to console him we are literally viewers, all we can do is maybe give advice, but the way these fans are going crazy over a break up that isnt theirs is crazy, focus on your own life
TL;DR: The people who are flaming him for ruining his perfect relationship are missing the point that he wasn’t ready for it in the first place. Him breaking things completely off and trying to heal is the best way to fix himself.
He probably just had some past trauma which has damaged his self-worth to the extent that he’s not being able to fully enjoy the success he’s achieved and the good things that have come with it.
While he wants good things, he feels like he doesn’t deserve them. So due to this “guilt” he can never fully enjoy them like a normal person (I.e. the doubting questions in the back of his mind he mentions). He may be so unused to the healthy relationship he has w/ Laura that he’s scared of the unknown (at least subconsciously) and this results in him self-destructing in order for him to return to the norm whether that’s the best course of action or not.
He wasn’t ready for Laura due to personal issues w/ self-confidence. Honestly it might be an Asian parents thing bc I’m working through it myself (pressured to meet unattainable goals etc. )
So it’s probably good for him in the long term to take a break and fix it.

@@milzhere It's a form of "Seeking familiarity". Often times people who experience chaotic environments will eventually adapt to it despite it not being a healthy thing for them. So after dealing with these environments for so long, once they escape and get themselves into a healthier, more stable situation whatever that may be. They will start to unconsciously self sabotage because they are starting to feel like they don't have control in their lives anymore. They will go out of their way to create scenarios that will bring them back into the chaotic environment they are used to and have adapted to and use whatever excuses they come up with as a reason. It is essentially just a form of coping with change that happens too fast and a way to ground themselves into familiarity. It is not healthy, but very normal.

So i have two views on what the root cause might be for him to do something like that to Laura:
1- he says that he wants to be in that position again to not get comfortable and thus why he wants to be alone but in reality he seeks comfort in loneliness and being unloved because that's what he's used to
2- deep down he wants space after everything that happened and he's pushing her away because he's processing his thoughts and emotions and he may be feeling that its his fault that she suffered so much and he's trying not to harm her again by leaving her.
