TVOne and Urban One Get Highest Honor from the City of Atlanta

  • The 6th Annual Urban One Honors event, titled "Best In Black," was recorded on January 20th, celebrating significant achievements in arts, media, music, and community. The event featured notable attendees such as CeeLo Green, Nicci Gilbert, Reginae Carter, Yandy Smith-Harris, and Chef Jernard Wells.
    During the kickoff of Urban One Honors, Alfred C. Liggins III received a proclamation from Atlanta City Council President Doug Shipman, on behalf of the City of Atlanta. This was in recognition of TV One's 20th Anniversary and the impact of Urban One in enriching the community.
    The City of Atlanta further honored TV One and Urban One with The Phoenix Award, the city’s highest accolade, presented by Mayor Andre Dickens at the end of the Red Carpet event.
    TV One, marking its 20th Anniversary, announced a year-long celebration with special programming, retrospectives, exclusive content, and commemorative events. This includes interviews with influential figures and highlights of TV One's pivotal moments over two decades.
    The 6th Annual Urban One Honors distinguished various individuals for their contributions. Mary J. Blige was honored as the “Entertainment Icon Honoree.” Other honorees included Dionne Warwick (Lifetime Achievement), Chlöe (Generation Next), Frankie Beverly (Living Legend), and Donald Lawrence (Inspirational Impact). The event showcased a range of performers and presenters, with LeToya Luckett hosting the “Backstage Pass.”
    TV One Networks, launched in January 2004, and CLEO TV, launched in January 2019, are part of Urban One, Inc. They offer a diverse array of programming and are aimed at African-American and urban audiences. Urban One is the largest media company targeting Black Americans, operating multiple broadcast stations and digital platforms.
