  • “Come on lads, we’ll go to Wales tonight…”
On the 15th of August 1960, three young lads from Wexford hopped into a small canoe in Ardamine, Co. Wexford and pointed her towards Wales.
Armed with a bright idea, Peter Donegan, Peter Sinnott and Seamus Organ took off in a two-man canoe with no lifejackets, scant provisions and a compass. Some 24 hours later they scrambled the high cliffs of Stumble Head in Pembrokeshire in Wales.
Peter is the last man of the three still alive and here he is talking to me about the event yesterday as part of a longer interview. This short piece also contains original BBC footage which was filmed when the lads reached Wales. Great story and the archival footage makes it.
