Losing a beloved pet can be incredibly difficult and emotionally challenging. Here are some steps you can take to cope with the loss of your dog:
1. **Allow yourself to grieve**: It's important to recognize and accept your feelings of sadness, grief, and even anger. Don't try to suppress your emotions; allow yourself to experience them fully.
2. **Seek support**: Talk to friends and family members who understand the bond you had with your dog. Sharing memories and feelings with others who cared about your pet can be comforting. If you feel like you need additional support, consider joining a pet loss support group or speaking with a therapist who specializes in grief counseling.
3. **Memorialize your dog**: Find a way to honor and remember your dog. This could involve creating a scrapbook or photo album, planting a tree or flower in their memory, or making a donation to a pet charity in their name. Creating a memorial can provide a sense of closure and help keep your dog's memory alive.
4. **Take care of yourself**: Make sure you're taking care of your own physical and emotional well-being during this difficult time. Eat nutritious foods, get regular exercise, and try to maintain a regular sleep schedule. Engage in activities that you find comforting or relaxing, whether it's spending time in nature, practicing mindfulness, or pursuing a hobby.
5. **Keep a routine**: While it's natural to feel disoriented and lost after losing a pet, try to maintain a sense of routine in your daily life. Keeping up with familiar activities and responsibilities can provide a sense of stability during a turbulent time.
6. **Consider getting a keepsake**: Some people find comfort in having a physical reminder of their pet, such as a paw print impression, a piece of jewelry containing their pet's ashes, or a custom portrait. Having a keepsake can provide a tangible connection to your dog and serve as a comforting reminder of the love you shared.
7. **Give yourself time**: Healing from the loss of a pet takes time, and everyone grieves at their own pace. Be patient with yourself and allow yourself to mourn in whatever way feels right for you. Remember that it's okay to feel a wide range of emotions, and there's no "right" or "wrong" way to grieve.
Ultimately, coping with the loss of a dog is a deeply personal journey, and it's important to give yourself the time and space you need to mourn your beloved companion.
My sweet Bouncie was 19, fragile. Hip broke. She never made a sound. At vet, she lay on the table, I looked in her eyes and played with her ears. Very quick, the light just went out of her eyes. That was 20 yrs ago. I still cry.
People. Don't forget the love ones.they are your children they are wonderful babies😂❤
I do too!❤ sorry for your loss😢
Can't stop crying. I had ti do the same 2 years ago with my little Maggie. She was 17 years old ❤❤❤miss her😢😢😢
Sorry for your loss. I know it's very hard to lose a pet...17 is pretty old age, I wish mine could live 3 more years. I'm looking for fostering a dog now.
My 19 year old toy poodle had cancer and was given 3 days to live. I was advised to put her down but I made the decision to take her home and hold her continually kissing her until her time. I could never have my pet killed. She died in my arms and I cried like never before in my life. I miss her so much and I will never stop missing her. I loved her so so much.
@@ValentinaW49 Sorry for your loss! The last day was the hardest before my dog left me, he couldn't do anything and threw up everything he ate, he was in pain too as he was making noses, I didn't know why, I feel helpless, and I also hold him crying like a baby, when the ER vet told me he probably was in pain due to pancreatitis, and liver problems. I couldn't let him in pain for another 2, 3 days, before he went into sleep I was whispering him ask him to come back to me later (however that happens), I don't know if it's possible, but our universe is full of unknown. so we never know...
Oh gosh, I’m so sorry for your loss.
This brought tears to my eyes and I know the grief you're going through. Two years ago I had to put my little Booker to sleep. I cried so hard, but held him and let him see my face to the end. The one beautiful thing about this is when your dog is in pain euthanasia is so painless and quick. I too agree when we go we will see our beloved pets again. Take care and grieve at your own pace.
Sorry for your loss too! This is something only the pet owner can understand. Whenever I think about the good time we had together, I feel sad too...this might stay with me for the rest of my life!
The pain of losing your dog is awful we put our beloved domino down 9 years ago and it still hurts every timei think of it the pain never goes away
Maybe depends on the person? I know some people around me like friends and coworkers lost their dogs but i didnt see how painful it is to them. 🤷🏻♀️ But yeah it’s really tough!
I'm crying too!! Have had to do the same for dogs and cats through the years. It is one of the hardest decisions that you make!! Atleast, we know we do it out of love, as we don't want them to suffer!!!
Thank you for understanding, I think after we have this experience, we understand better, at least for me. Yes our pets provided unconditional love to us, we will have to do the same. I heard people did major surgeries on their SENIOR pets and their pets died after 1,2 months. I didn't want to do things like that..I wish he can still be with me forever, but unfortunately there is no such thing..
This is so painful but so beautiful. I said goodbye to my precious girl of 16 years after she had a stroke. I wanted her to die at home in the very place we slept together. I will never forget you my baby angel. I’ll see you again. Blessings to all of you who lost a pet. The mobile vet was so very kind . She passed in October of 2023. She was my world😢😢😢😢
I’m so sorry you lost your sweet baby. It’s such a great loss. Be grateful, which I’m sure you are, for the time together you had. ♥️💐
Why was Benny PTS 💔😭💔😭💔😭💔😭 R.I.P Sweetheart Heaven🌈 awaits you with open arms and Paws 🐾 Run Free Darling you are safe and wanted 💔😭💔😭♥️♥️♥️
So sorry for your loss.
God bless you in the loss of your cherished baby♥️♥️♥️♥️
😢😢I know your pain❤❤
Something only the pet owners can understand!
I’m sorry for your loss. I can feel your pain. I had to put my two mini pins down because they had kidney disease. You will see Benny one day.
Thank you for your kind words
Very sorry for your loss. Hang in there, take your time to grieve.. Benny will give you signs that he's looking over you.
He did. a week after his death I saw a rainbow 🌈 just outside my living room window.. :) thank you for your kind words
So very sorry. I lost a beloved cat and am still so sad about it. My son was in denial about what the cat, Binx, was going through and dragged his heels about putting Binx down so he died at home instead. It took a long time and though I hope he didnt suffer alot, his dying was definitely prolonged and i feel so guilty. He was an amazing icat and deserved so much better from us. I hope never to put an animal through rhat again and even though euthanasia is very hard on the person, it's so much kinder for the animal. I love Binx forever and almost cant forgive myself. So sorry for the loss of your beautiful little friend Benny but he is in your heart now, as Binx is in mine.
May the memories help you. On Monday I just had to put my beautiful girl Abee, a 12 year old amstaff to sleep, after a massive stroke on Sunday night. I can't stop crying, at the RSPCA I cried when the vet did it, my cat Chevy, who Abee raised from a 6 week old kitten, is just as lost & heartbroken as me, ❤ your little Fur-Angel is watching over you from the Rainbow Bridge 🌈
Sorry for your loss!! I totally understand how you feel now! Take care of yourself too!
god will bless u.feel so sorry
RIP SWEET BOY! im so truly sorry for your loss. I've been there quite a few times myself. It's never easy to do but in time the pain will start to heal and God will put another blessing in your life. He did for me that saved me after the last one. I will pray for you.
Thank you for your kind word! Yes time can heal and they will be always in our heart. I'm fostering a dog now from a rescue place.
@@BeccaL2016 I'm glad to hear that and take care. God bless you and I'll be praying for you my friend 😊

Remember the good walks, not the sad ones...We all know your pain.
Whenever I think about the good time we had together, I feel sad too...this might stay with me for the rest of my life!
Why did I watch this....I cry all night now...been through this crap myself too much
Sorry to hear that! Hope you are feeling better now! I know it's sad, but we are not alone to feel this way...
I had to do the same thing. two years ago. I do not think I ever get over it. Same type of dog.
Yes it’s very hard! Strong emotions I have ever experienced! 😢
I lost my dog Bella rose it broke my heat we had such a bond -I’m disabled and needed her to be here but she had to go to the vet…she had kidney stone and I was told that my vet dr was gone on vacation and someone other than her would do it…my dog was just 5 pounds and it hurt me so bad when the doctors told me she won’t live …I asked that she be brought to me I had to give her knowledge of knowing I was here and I seen her but could tell she was in total distress she was laid in my lap and I called her name Bella….and sang to her my song I sang for her …she buried her head into me and I told her to go shush shush my signal to go sleep her breathing was so hard Ang then she stopped I held her for as long as I could then she was taken back to hospital to be cremated I have her only this way now..I miss her -guys..I ask God to bless other dog owners with strength to with stand this heart break
Benny looks so much like my Madison, even the green collar. She was put to sleep in my arms at age 18 years.
❤

Thank you! 🙏🏼
Cat person here. I was blessed in several regards: I had great cats, through the years. Also a wonderful vet, Dr. Charles Schaubhut at Downtown Veterinary in NYC, who I have known since the 1970's. He took care of all my cats and we had a strong friendship. Most of my cats lived to great ages - like 16, 17, or 18. Masha was actually 23!!! When I was in the room w/ my cat for that first euthanasia, Dr. Schaubhut told me I could stay in the room if I wished. But to leave did not make me a 'coward' - some people are just not strong enough to watch this, even though it quite a peaceful procedure. I chose to stay. He explained: First the cat would be given a strong sedation, which would 'zonk them out' and make them unconscious. Then the second injection, which would stop their heart. As they would drift off, I always sent up a prayer, "Dear Lord, I now give back to you this animal who has given me such joy. Please take him into your Kingdom..amen.." There is no easy way to do this. But a sensitive, understanding vet with whom you have a good rapport helps enormously....
Yeah I had a vet or vet clinic who did this. I just hoped that I made the right decision as my dog was pretty healthy in his age and then all the sudden he got deadly DKA! I thought he could live past 15. Two ER clinics had suggested euthanasia but still I am wondering sometimes that they made huge deals…
What was wrong with Benny,he looks just like my dog.
He was diagnosed with Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), pancreatitis, and liver problems. I miss him everyday!
@@BeccaL2016 I'm so sorry for your loss. The vet said my dog almost 14 has the beginnings of Cushing disease, and she said the medication is awful for the dogs,so I've decided not to put her on the meds, I'm crying about putting her down, but I'm going to wait till she start having pain.
@@JuanitaClarkGarcia I’m so sorry that you have to go through this too. As for mine, he seemed healthy until three months before his death, so it can happen quickly, as the vet told me, because of old age. He was like a 98-year-old human. we didn’t know until it was too late. The last few days were hard because he stopped eating and threw up everything he ate. That’s when I knew something was very wrong with him, and he stopped playing with his favorite toys. I had to take him to an ER because my vet was a month away from being available to see him. I could have kept him alive by giving him medicines, but because of other complications and his old age, he might have had a painful death, as the vet said. The vet said, ‘Ask yourself, “Is this for you or for him? If it’s for you, let him be alive for a few more days where he might suffer, but if it’s for him, it’s time to let him sleep without pain.”’ I know it’s the hardest decision to make; even now, I think of ‘what-ifs’ all the time. We need to make peace with ourselves, knowing our pet had a good life with us. After seeing many homeless dogs that had been abused and lived a painful life, I think I made the right decision for him because I don’t want him to suffer…though I wish he were still sleeping under my desk right now, and I could still take a walk with him. As shown in the video, a week after his death, while I was using my computer, I saw this big rainbow just right outside my window. I’ve never seen any rainbow that convenient; usually, I see them while I’m outside driving or walking, so it was too convenient for me to see a rainbow and the timing too. I feel it was a sign my dog showed me; I also asked him to give me some sign. I think even though their physical bodies die, their souls are still somewhere. I know he was happy with me, and he is grateful for that. Enjoy every moment with your pup now, and whatever decision you make, he is grateful.❤💞💜
@@JuanitaClarkGarcia Maybe get another vet opinion before decision. I regret allowing a vet to euthanize my soul dog to this day.
Poor baby what happening d😭😭🙏
Too heavy😩
Did I miss something why 😢did you put Benny down
He was super sick pls check my other videos on this topic that i explained
Hey you know what when Jesus comes back to this world he’s going to make things right again and all of ower dead pets will come back to life in heaven because all dogs go to heaven and those of us with not only just be with ower pets.We will be with Jesus Christ himself ❤❤❤❤so it may be hard to let go but God has a plan for all of his creations and don’t worry salvation is coming and justice from God one day❤❤❤❤❤and he loves us and ower pet❤❤❤
Thank you! Now I'm not afraid of death any more because I can just go meet my little boy up there :) I miss him so much!

Sorry to hear that! Bit She had a 19 long happy life with you, I think I will probably the same after 20 years, they have special space in your heart for sure!
