By no means do you have to support but Mrs. Gibson and I really appreciate the support as it goes a long way since most of these videos are copyrighted or blacklisted by YT. Lots of time goes into recording, editing, researching, and providing encouraging words throughout each reaction/review so this is an OPTION for those that are able to do so. DO NOT if finances are tight and priorities need to be taken care of first.

Hey man, you need to check them out live. Mark Knopfler is not only the lead singer, but he is also the lead guitarists at the same time. Phenomenal is nowhere near describing how great he is. Check it out!
I will always love this song. Some of the greatest clean guitar playing ever recorded.
Alchemy live version is a MUST. The drummer goes ham
If you don't listen to the "Alchemy Live" version you will have missed a very special moment on your musical journey. It is an absolute must! 10 minutes of pure genius!
I second that!
Big support on that
Hey please watch the Alchemy Live version of this song! !! ❤️
I would also second that. Devin, it will change your outlook. You owe it to yourself.
TRUTH
The live concert Alchemy is the best thing to watch. Sultans of Swing is phenomenol.
Now to truly blow your mind... This album came out in1978... when I was 19. It remains my favorite album to this day (here, let save you doing the math, I'm now 62). Second, Mark Knopfler was finger-picking that Fender Stratocaster. Now Go catch my favorite song off that album, 'Wild West End' (it is about time spent with his best friend on the west side of London). The rest of that album is... in today's vernacular...Fire! :) Enjoy your Dire Straits journey my young friend! :)
Telegraph Road, Tunnel of Love, Love over Gold, Down to the Waterline, Once upon a time in the West, Angel of Mercy, Romeo and Juliet, industrial disease
Brothers in arms, Money for nothing, many more and Mark Knophler has some really good solo stuff
“Walk of life” with the sports video
Everything by Dire Straits is amazing! My all time favorite band
It always seems strange when youngsters say they've never heard of Dire Straits given that by the mid-80s they were probably the biggest band in the world, with their Brothers in Arms album selling 30 million copies worldwide. Over 100 million album sales in total, performed at Live Aid in '85 (having popped across the carpark to the stadium from where they were in residence at Wembley Arena), headlined the Nelson Mandela tribute concert also at Wembley Stadium, massive world tours, Grammy, Brit and MTV awards, belated induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018 (for what that's worth) etc.
It's also amusing when Devin states 'their music careers were over before I was born'. Oh no they weren't! Mark Knopfler has released numerous solo albums, duet albums with Chet Atkins and Emmylou Harris, performed on tracks for many other musicians, toured with Bob Dylan a few years ago (having played on a couple of his albums back in the day including Infidels which he also produced) and added to his catalogue of film soundtracks (which includes The Princess Bride).
Base player John Illsley was the only other ever-present in Dire Straits and has continued to record and perform. Rhythm guitarist David Knopfler, who left the band after he and Mark fell out, forged a decent career as a singer/songwriter mainly in Europe and as far as I know is still going. Drummer Pick Withers currently plays with a band called Slim Pickin's. And that's just the original line up. There were many other members over the course of the band's existence, all very talented. Their careers didn't end with their time in the band either.
Mark Knopler's "Sailing to Philadelphia" is one of my favorite albums. Great songs!
Mark Knopfler may well be the greatest guitarist alive, and if he's not, he's certainly in the Top 5.
definitely top 5, no doubt about it. Maybe even top 2/3 I would say.
Dire Straits is incredible. Must hear more
I couldn’t take my eyes off your two beautiful pups who came in the camera shot🐶❤️. God Bless!
Sultans of Swing (Alchemy live ) is amust !!!!!!
What a guitar player , what a song. In my top 10 guitar solos and bands ever. Cool reaction
You need to check out Money for Nothing by Dire Straits! It was the first music video on MTV
No it wasn't. Video Killed the Radio Star was the first video on mtv.
@@donnajohnson8083 my mistake
It was a first music video on MTV Nordic. You were not completely wrong
It was one of the first..fixed it for the pedantic.
First time I like reaction better than the song! Oh Yeahhhhhhh. I just finished boot camp when this song came out. great memories. Thanks.
I flippin LOVE this channel. Your other channel is great, but this is more my speed!
"So Far Away (From Me)" is one of their great follow-up songs, as well as "My Brother's Keeper".
One of the best bands ever. Best concert I ever saw. And that is saying something.
Everyone will tell you about the genius of Mark. But few mention how great of an accompanist that his brother was. Strats and Teles, living together...its so beautiful.
We had never heard anything like this! The guitar work, and sound,, was alien to us.
"ah yes, the solo" *giggle* he doesn't know.
So Far Away, Money for nothing, Walk of life, Romeo and Juliette, Local Hero, Twistin' by the pool, so so many great songs...
Oh gosh, love me some Dire Straits! Brings back some good memories. Was in my early 20's working the swing shift on a test line in an electronics factory, calibrating volt meters. Worked with a fabulous group of folks there. The hours could be long, the work repetitive, but we would all have our radios on the same station and rocking out to Dire Straits while we worked away. Funny how great tunes and good folk can make the most mundane tasks turn into a great time, and make the hours fly by. Thanks for the great tune Devin!
Love your reaction. This band is pure talent . Marks guitar pickin is 3 finger style after Chet Adkins
Goosebumps. Got them in 77 and got them now.
Mark is one of my musical idols - the way he sings and plays the guitar gives me goosebumps. I saw him live on the same bill as Bob Dylan a few years back...lets just say Mark was awesome! You must check out the live version of this, adds another level to it. Enjoy.
You have to see the grin on Mark's face when they play LIVE.
I'll forever love this song! 💥❤🎸
Suggestion: Crosby, Stills, & Nash - "Southern Cross"...
Any Crosby, Stills and Nash )
Or 'Delta!'
Watch them sing this LIVEEEEE!!!!
You MUST see this live!
agree with other comments, this is a band you need to watch live and to take in the genius of Knopfler and the tightness of the and. Saw them in the early 80's, great concerts, great band with a brilliant songbook - "Telegraph Road" is well worth a listen
Love these Devin, keep em coming. 🔥
I love this studio version, but the live recordings are more impressive -- because you get the full impact of Knopfler bouncing the solo back and forth between his voice and the guitar. Dire Straits performed what was called "pub rock." They kept the volume down because patrons were there for a pint and conversation, not a concert.
Hi Mr. D., The guitar solo in the middle and at the end of "Sultans of Swing" is some of the best U can hear..
And Mr. Mark does it without using a guitar pick.. Lots of songs, try "Money For Nothing".. ♠W.G.
This is my favourite album of theres every single song on it is fantastic with Wild West end and in the gallery being my favourites.
Your dog!! 🥰♥️🥰♥️🥰
You must react to Alchemy live version. It will blow you away.!
.......I Want My MTV...........!! :-)
Dig how you dug there Devin.
Fair play to you.
Got to watch dire straits live .
Mark finger picks the electric guitar-he uses his thumb and fingers instead of a guitar pick. That's how he gets that sweet, smooth sound out of the guitar. I think Chet Atkins, and old, old country singer and guitar player made that style of picking famous. Love your love of good music.
I used to have this "Album" on "LP" and "Cassette" then CD !! ... wait what :)
You look like you'd be fun to have a couple of beers with.
🇦🇺👍
I love you getting into the classic, Im an old Hippie and loving it...Whooo the memories, a song can just jerk you right back in time...Love it...Thanks, Blessings
Just for your information. It was not a banjo or any other stringed instrument. Just a plain old Fender Stratocaster electric guitar fingerpicked. Suggestion-wise if as already mentioned Sultans of Swing, Alchemy live verion (just remember wear a seat belt for that one) . Studio songs...well basically pick any... if you feel brave enough...try Tunnel of Love or Telegraph Road.
Devin... This is good music.
It's amusing hearing you say the music I grew up with as classic as the music my parents grew up with has always been called Oldies/Classic. I've never considered my music classic. haha. I've only considered it all just great music I was blessed to grow up with.
Strikeout Dire Straits song The Walk of Life make sure you watch the live video with it though that's the best one fantastic
im 30. even iam not a native English speaker. I've got into classicrock back in 2009. dire straits is one of my favourite band ever. i feel jealous for those who listen to classic rock for the first time. I've subscribed almost every classicrock reactors. and you are the best among all of them... that your laugh after ending of every song is cool. channel subscribed 💕🌻💙
Your face when Mark Knopfler starts playing guitar 🎸😂😂
Take a trip back to 1969 and pay a visit to Grand Funk Railroad...."Inside Looking Out" live.
YES!
love how the dog takes one look and says "fuck this, im off"
the dog has no taste lol
On Dire Straits, YOU WILL WANT to react to "Calling Elvis"
You should check up also the "Money for nothing."This song might be familiar to you coz they always play it on games.
Plz do Money for Nothing...
YOU HAVE THE BEST REACTIONS BECAUSE YOU REALLY ENJOY REAL MUSIC.
My " national anthem" great sound...
Money for nothing is another hit song
The best...dire
Dire Straits are my all time favmore so Mark especially his Gat playing, his lyrics n sultry singing. Luv tht u research alittle on who your about 2 react to. Water of love n tht album
My 2 favourite bands Dire Straits & Pink Floyd, both Mark Knopfler & David Gilmour guitar virtuoso, was lucky to see both bands in the early days
The eagles are amazing as well.
So that "banjo" sound you hear is actually just how Mark Knofler plays the guitar. Instead of a pick he opts to use his thumb and index finger which allows him to create that plucking type of sound
Can Mark ever make that guitar sing or what!
Knopfler is a great guitarist-- no showing off, no glitz, just exactly what the song needs.
Loved the Reaction m8 its so real and u really get down to feeling this awesome music because you can appreciate it.You Really need to check em out more Just listen to Alchemy Live its one of the Best Ever with Amazing Improvizations and co op for guitars keyboards and the Amazing Drummer all with a Legendary Mark Knopfler Solo !
Just one of those random CZcams suggestions and here I am! Looking down your list, there's loads of my favourite songs there - I think this is going to be fun.
Sadly I never got to see Dire Straits, but I did fulfil a lifelong ambition and saw Mark Knopfler in concert two years ago, before 'you know'. (He's had a pretty successful solo career in the years since Dire Straits split up.) He's lost a bit of the dexterity on the guitar (along with his hair) but it was still probably the best concert I've been to in years, since Elton at Wembley anyway. He didn't do this song, unfortunately, nor a couple of my other favourites, but he did do Romeo and Juliet and the majestic Brothers In Arms.
I agree with other people below, watch the Alchemy Live version of Sultans of Swing. Mark takes that little guitar solo from the album track and turns it into something transcendent.
Tunnel of Love is on there too, my second favourite Dire Straits song.
Nice reaction, a classic you might say.
Fun fact guitar George was a nod to George Young brother of Mel and Angus of AC/DC fame
while Harry is Harry Vander who along with George were from an Aussie band called The Easybeats
they also produced the early AC/DC albums
If you're ever up for a looooong song (14 min), check out Dire Straits song "Telegraph Road." czcams.com/video/d8bWGGA-5HM/video.html

Your Latest Trick
Hey you HAVE to listen /watch the live version of this song!! seriously it’s a whole different crazy experience and you’ll love it!
With all due respect, Dire Straits is unbelievably tops. But in my opinion, as far as solos go, I believe Miguel Montalban plays this song the best I have ever heard. Check out Street musician playing Sultans of Swing. Dated 24. January. 2016 Nine minutes, 30 seconds of pure magic.
Mark Knopflet is a great solo artist as well in both soundtracks and his several albums since the Straits.
Loving that you are exploring the classics. Love this song and your reaction. Also just watched your reaction to The Animals and "The House of the Rising Sun". You got the message right. If you like the, don't make the same mistakes I made, type songs, check out Hank Williams Sr. "Lonesome Highway". Peace
Live Live Live Live Live Alchemy!
Mark doesn’t use a pick when he picks those strings! He has a finger/ thumb method. Gives him a sound all his own!
classic
Oh man you gotta hear "money for nothing"
Guy do the Alchemy live Version - blows your mind it really begins when this fade out
