I like when your daughter comes in the garage because when you explain it to her in a simpler way then I understand what the hell you are talking about.
Knowing Ave an odd teence of German. But yes, quebquoise children have a lot language to pack in with just English and French. My Canadian cousins are similar. It makes me jealous as a brit with just English and awful French at my command.
jetblackstar If it makes you feel better, I suffer from the Toronto education of English plus the ability to sort of ask a French teacher to go to the bathroom.
She aint after it she just doesn't want it. The moment she does Father rules kicks in and he'll be regulated as camera operator. She'll then turn to a teen automatically know everything, more than anybody, and not want anything to do with anything.
She figured out that you have to orient the flats of the wrench to the flats on the bolts in about ten seconds--kind of amazing watching a human brain teach itself something for the first time. And the dad said nothing, just let her figure it out. Cool dad.
Chickadee's a chip off the ol' block. If you watch close you'll see her back that last bolt off a quarter turn. Didn't hear her say click, but it's a fine start!
I know some people might not like these types of videos. But as a father my myself hanging out with my little guy in the garage while he loses all my tools is one of my favorite things to do and I am sure u cherish those moments just as much as I do. Keep up the good work pretty soon she will be teaching u how things work.
I think the way AvEs kid is in the video work, but it gets annoying when someone has a 10-12 year old just running around, screaming and jumping for attention in the background. Give it a few years, Chickadee herself will probably be a pair of swearing hands in a video, explaining something for us.
What a little sweetheart. and she calls you Papa. I hear her voice and it reminds me of my daughters when they were little. Now I have grand kids and it is happening all over again. God bless the little ones. They're here to soften the hearts of old wretches like me.
Been subbed for a long time, the shop humor is what pulled me in initially. It's the environment that I've worked in for 27 years give or take a hemorrhoid or two. I'm one of those guys that learns hands on the hard way but I'll figure it out no matter what the cost to my employer. I appreciate that you put things you've learned out in a way that helps me understand them but would also entertain and inform the book smarts out there too. Thanks for the work you do with these videos and especially thank you for not editing out the humanity.
My daughter is 19 now and in Brazil on a Church Mission... this took be back 15 years when she started coming out to the shop with me. She & I rebuilt a VW motor for our dune buggy when she was about 8yo and to this day, moments in the shop are our most treasured memories to date !!! Keep loving the kids AvE - you're a hero !!!
Single handedly did more for the amount of future women in STEM fields than all the promotional campaigns in the world. Those hands are the sign of a happy childhood.
Awesome, totally enjoy the VJOs, but this girl is going to totally out class you. She is adorable, and as a father I totally appreciate the time and patience you take with her to let her learn. Awesome, more of the chickadee!
Every VJO featuring Chikadee is everyone's favorite VJO... Awesome that Dad always makes time for her even in the middle of filming... keep up the good work dad
I've enjoyed your vijyas for years and really respect the ones covering "accidents" as a construction industry professional. I've never connected with the videos as much as I have with this one though, it's like a replay of me working with my son or daughter at probably the exact ages your daughter seems to be here. This is really the best part of being good with the hands, passing as much as you can to the next generation.
Chickadee appearances are ALWAYS welcome! It warms my heart to see her interacting with you in the shop. The learning that occurs is priceless! I was "Aww" when you got her a bandaid. I was "HELL YEA!" when I saw it was HPHT!!! I should have known...
When you said "water... or oil" I was totally expecting an excited little "Oil! Oil! Oil!" Speaking of cavitation, that is how the pistol shrimp hunts - it snaps its claw so fast it creates a cavitation bubble in the water (at a brief 4000℃!) and the shock-wave kills/stuns its prey.
This is now my favorite video of yours. Reminds me of my girls when they were small. Now all grown up and my biggest regret in life is not stopping to enjoy them and let them ‘help’ when they asked. Glad to see you not making that mistake like I did. Thank you for sharing that.
I honestly believe that if more kids had parents like you then the world would be a far better place, your a great man Mr AVE, thanks for all you give to this community I know for a fact I'm a better at my job because of it. Thank you.
Bah, they've been putting the sizes on top of the bolts for decades. On that note if anyone knows where I can buy a 12.9mm or 8.8mm wrench please let me know.
I have seen it once where an individual thought the 8.8 referred to the size of wrench needed, even though it was clearly over a 1/2 inch. You meet all kinds in this racket
i have to disapoint you that is not the size of the bolt but it grade. The number represent tensile strength in hundreds of a Mpa so 8.8 means 880 Mpa. Look up bolt grade.
you're looking at canada as a whole... quebec has 6.3m french speaker out of the full 7.5m... go check the proportion in BC 3.27M english VS 71k... in alberta? 3M english vs 86k.... french is very much a slim minority anywhere else than quebec
Future public speaker here, gifted in mechanical and electrical doodads. Good job, AvE. You have singlehandedly won the entire internet with this. M: "You want here in here?!" A: "Yeah, she's cool." Darn right she's cool. Cooler than the girls I go out with.
so many memories of my own boys learning how to wrench at an early age ... My youngest son showed interest at 4 yrs old and built his first Quad at 11 all by himself (a mid 90's yammy Blaster)... My oldest Son started later at about 10 yrs old and he now builds some of the coolest custom H-D's I have ever seen... Not only did he put himself through collage by flipping and building bikes he now is one of Ohio's most popular custom harley builders in our great state of Ohio... You can see some of his early work on my channel before he could afford his own Garage..... Many Blessings , SMR....never miss your VIDS , keep up the great Education
Also - have you ever considered doing a separate channel (or separate set of videos) aimed toward kids? It'd be cool to show my boys some videos of you and Chickadee doing things together!
The difference is that this one would actually have value. If he did it as a separate channel, you wouldn't even have to subscribe so you wouldn't see them. But I think there's a lot of potential for kids to learn things here.
_ _ If it wasn't scripted and was just the two of them tinkering with things in an educational way I think it'd be enjoyable. And on a seperate channel so you wouldn't have the videos popping up in your sub notifications if you follow this channel.
Dammit, that hit me right in the feels. Isn't that what we're all doing when we take our kids out to work on the car or fix the house, training our replacements?
My daughters are both in their thirties and they are pretty good people but your daughters little voice sure makes me long for their younger days. They grow up so fast, enjoy all the time you have with them.
Just found your channel the other day and have been binge watching episodes. When your daughter came in I love how you were with her. I just had my first, a girl, 7 months ago. I hope she is as interested in working in the shop with me as your girl is with you.
From what I have seen you sir are a great father, and a skookum human being. That is the problem in the world today very few people teach their children and grandchildren how to fix stuff and take care of themselves. And it just melts my heart every time I hear you interact with your daughter.
Man I have managed to avoid making a youtube account for so long.... then my husband started listening to AvE and as a mother it melts my heart listening to you and your daughter.
8:09 I love that the wood-elf racism has already been indoctrinated, "made of metal." Sounds like the chip is already smarter than the original block, "I don't want to." (Chickadee is a good influence on everyone.) #keepYourStickOnTheIce
This is what my father always did with me. He was a pixie wrangler/general handyman. I guess his main job became a network power engineer but, it was cool he had so many jobs and was able to make me a very capable kiddo. I was fixing everything and also had an obsession with seeing how things worked by taking them apart. Which is why I love AvE videos. My dad used to always say if it ain't broke, fix it until it is. Great memories. And I don't have kids but, try to do the same with my niece and nephew. The parts with chickadee are always so dang adorable!
Mr. Cherry is telling a joke. He recounts a falsified anecdote about his use of a standard kitchen item in order to create a comedic effect by insinuating that he is sterile after purposely irradiating his testicles, an irrational and nonsensical thing to do.
All you need to do is find a woman, who has spent half as much time standing in front of the microwave, and you may be able to pull one or two off of your own.
Please don't leave for cake! I had to go back and see this video after a month. Thanks for the cuteness and thanks to Dad for sounding like a fantastic father!
That was precious as hell. You are a good ol' man, old man. Your wee one and their generation thanks you in advance, for making them a bit stronger, and more interested in physical things.
Saw this from reddit I love how you talk to your daughter. You dont treat her like an kid. You dont talk to her like a kid. Which is great! Thats how you should talk to everyone.
I feel like I'm in a way back machine. This one's three years old and it's your second best video ever. I'm going to keep searching there's freaking gold in here. 😁 Thanks for sharing, it proves you an actual human being, raising a clone. 😱😱😱
"Keep your little Richard in a bad habit" ... "*sigh* I don't want to". That was funny as hell.
omg, you're right. That was friggin hilarious.
Jeff Grant- I laughed good when I heard that as well.
Hahahahaha
The boss tells others what to do, the boss does not get told what to do.
Smart girl!
"I wanna stay in the shop with you"
Right in the feels
It's okay.
Danceswithwolves I was getting dust in my eyes.
In da feelz
yep
Right in the heart..
Thank god you explained it to your daughter. Now it's roughly at my understanding level.
/r/explainlikeimfive
LOL
I need one like this for that electric motor.
Lmao . 3 bolts , 3 holes , u following ?
NO
This is how we get women into STEM. good dad
Oh man when his daughter came in, he handled it so well. Parenting
at its finest. Too adorable. And the ending LOL.
I don't know how he comes up with classic lines like that on the spot, honestly. He must be the wisest crack in Canuckistan! Makes me jealous hahaha
...and she handled the old man's request at the end perfectly!
I tape my kids up all the time, my kids call it a shop Band-Aid!
How can I get a heart on my comment? If I say
focus ya faaaaaack, can I get some love? :p
Crucial Muzic I
"then I can't cuss"
"that's okay"
was looking for this one
I wish she would have said "I don't fucking care"... my 3 yo has a knack for repeating the swear words exclusively.
I like when your daughter comes in the garage because when you explain it to her in a simpler way then I understand what the hell you are talking about.
lol
"look at my bandaid, boys and girls" cuteness overload
Had me cheesing so hard
I could swear when last we heard her she was speaking French. Trilingual girl -- French, English, and Bumblefuck. Already years ahead of me.
And Spanish too (I think)
Knowing Ave an odd teence of German. But yes, quebquoise children have a lot language to pack in with just English and French. My Canadian cousins are similar. It makes me jealous as a brit with just English and awful French at my command.
jetblackstar If it makes you feel better, I suffer from the Toronto education of English plus the ability to sort of ask a French teacher to go to the bathroom.
"But then I can't cuss..."
"That's OK."
Chickadee is a real chip off the old bumblefuck. :-)
big wee wee man the daughter takes after him
aussiebloke609
6:43 he bypasses it by flipping us off
Chickadee made this video much betterer... thank you AVE for being skooum dad and bad ass youtube gawd
tek413 I think I got diabetes after watching chickadee
Look like a solid retirement plan to me. 🤣
"I wanna stay in the shop with you"
"I know, but then I can't cuss"
By the time she's driving, she will be able to call bulls--t on any mechanic that tries to pull the wool over her eyes
No, she'll be fixing her own car, like a real woman!
perhaps. unless she gets more enjoyment out of opening a can of whoop-ass on a crook
diggerop ZAZA
Awww! The heart strings, they be a-pulling! AvE, you're an awesome Pa.
She dont be fallen too far from the old tree! Definitely made the video much better.
...and this is why sons/daughters also need proper fathers in their lives.
True to that.
praetorx ian I agree with you on that one.
Shit! I thought we were just Dickin around in the shop, then it went all super cute and wholesome! Got me right in the lady parts! Fawk!
Dude, just do video's of you teaching young Chickadee.... just heart melting...
^this
Don't be fooled by her cuteness..........she's after your youtube empire. lol
who needs a youtube empire when you have an empire of dirt in your inheritance.
She aint after it she just doesn't want it. The moment she does Father rules kicks in and he'll be regulated as camera operator. She'll then turn to a teen automatically know everything, more than anybody, and not want anything to do with anything.
for the rest of her life the little lady will treasure the memories of working with her Daddy. It does not get better than that,
Need more Chickadee!
FPSJackyl She is a treat especialle for sure. Awesome girl! Still, only if she wants to come and help daddy with his vijeos herself.
Someone's gotta be the brains of the outfit.
I got so excited when i heard the knock on the door! Sudden hope we'd get a shop inspection. If Chickadee is in i can do without the cussin'.
FPSJackyl no let them have private life in case they resent it when older.
Always happy to trade your swearing to have the little chickadee in the shop. 🎈
Teaching the next Jen something apart from poking a screen with a booger covered finger is definitely worth the sacrifice.
Gary Cohen always 👌👍
"Let's up a bandaid on that"...*tape peel sound*
Taylor Griffin good ol' hockey tape
She figured out that you have to orient the flats of the wrench to the flats on the bolts in about ten seconds--kind of amazing watching a human brain teach itself something for the first time. And the dad said nothing, just let her figure it out. Cool dad.

paul campbell I was waiting for the "click"
"it hurts even if there's juice on it" I laughed more than I should have at that, Chickadee is so darn cute
Your breakdown on the pump was well done, but your daughter stole the show. My wife liked your channel. Now she loves you. Congrats!
Your daughter is already more helpful than most apprentices. Great job papa
as an apprentice, I find this offensive.. and woefully accurate..
@@CapOfXav me either.
I know some people might not like these types of videos. I'm all for it. If you can't explain something to a six-year-old then you don't understand it.
sure, blame the little one for you misplacing your tools :)
Dan Purgert I shouldn't say " lose" it's actually more like a hybrid game of 52 card pick up and where's waldo.
I think the way AvEs kid is in the video work, but it gets annoying when someone has a 10-12 year old just running around, screaming and jumping for attention in the background.
Give it a few years, Chickadee herself will probably be a pair of swearing hands in a video, explaining something for us.
I was pretty happy having my woken four year old out in the shop to FIND those tools I misplaced myself I reckon.
Not even a dad, but I'm smiling watching. You're raising her right, lad!
I have diabetes and the section starting at 4:42 nearly resulted in my death. My lawyer will be in touch.
So sweet my teeth hurt.
Very sweet, and I DID NOT cry!
Forget the pump WHO WANTS CAKE????
What a little sweetheart.
and she calls you Papa.
I hear her voice and it reminds me of my daughters when they were little.
Now I have grand kids and it is happening all over again.
God bless the little ones.
They're here to soften the hearts of old wretches like me.
CAKE! The best end to a project =)
I came for the cute interruption, but stayed because this is actually pretty interesting. You are very good at explaining things.
Been subbed for a long time, the shop humor is what pulled me in initially. It's the environment that I've worked in for 27 years give or take a hemorrhoid or two. Lucky little girl to have such a patient teacher
Cuteness overload! I cracked up when you pulled out the HPHT for her "bandaid."
I was about to die laughing, the wife asked what was so funny, so I made her come watch.
Hot Pink Hockey Tape? Or High Pressure High Temperature tape?
Especially since "Mommy said no". He's taking his life in his hands there.
This quickly went from being a pretty cool video about an oil pump top the best video on the entire internet.
My daughter is 19 now and in Brazil on a Church Mission... this took be back 15 years when she started coming out to the shop with me. lol
I was just thinking of mumma bear and having all those grease marks to get off them sleeves!
Comments section says everything… as do all the smiles this raised. Thank you AvE and thank you Chickadee.
Awesome, totally enjoy the VJOs, but this girl is going to totally out class you. She is adorable, and as a father I totally appreciate the time and patience you take with her to let her learn. Awesome, more of the chickadee!
My little girl just went: 'hey daddy look, that girl also has a weird dad!'
....great compliment...
😂👍🏽
r/thathappened
r/nothingeverhappens
My daughter told me I am immature. Took her 17 years to figure that one out. Most people notice it rather quickly. lol
Every VJO featuring Chikadee is everyone's favorite VJO... Awesome that Dad always makes time for her even in the middle of filming... keep up the good work dad
kids are a priority you only have one shot there are no muligans with family
Can you say Keep your little Richard in a bad habit?
I don't want too.
XD
Yeah ... so cute and adult in the same moment .... just loved it. ;)
there is nothing that gives me more hope, then a dad and his daughter working together in the shop...the sandblast dust is making my eye water!
Ave, every time your little chickadee comes into the shop it brings some great big rays of sunshine into mine. Keep bein a skookum dad!
I'd trade my entire inheritance, to grow up with a dad like you.
I'd trade my fucking soul in a heartbeat
wouldn't that mean you'd get more inheritance from the sheer quantity of old gear amassed in the Empire of Dirt?
Amen dude. Same.
That's both the saddest and sweetest thing I've read
I think it costs more than $30 and a tent in the woods to get a dad like this.
I liked the explanation level when the little one joined. The flower concept locked it in for me. Thanks Ave. Reminds me of my little ones.
Your little girl is going to be a grey beard before she can drive.
jokkerb she will master the thum
teach her to be a millwright by age 12
When you said "water... or oil" I was totally expecting an excited little "Oil! Oil! Oil!"
Speaking of cavitation, that is how the pistol shrimp hunts - it snaps its claw so fast it creates a cavitation bubble in the water (at a brief 4000℃!) and the shock-wave kills/stuns its prey.
Wow! More information to impress chicks with! Thanks man!
Piñata Oblongata yup, I was also waiting on “oil, oil, oil” lol
I learn better when you talk to us like chickadee the flower part makes more sense than lobed output shaft
Ryder RatedR this doesn't seem like a channel for beginners
Parasite Princess I'm hoping our great uncle bumble fuck up there in canukistan can tell that was a joke maybe I should tag it as such
Precious!
LockPickingLawyer, AvE should attempt to make you a lock of sorts, that cant be beat with a ramset OR your bolt extractors
plot twist, she's 20.
Ben Chernicoff lmao
Your kids hands look as bad as my plumber hands
i like how she's cool with the hockey tape and doesn't want a disney princess bandaid
True Canadian. Yay Chickadee!
Where you plumbing at . southeast Texas here.
I love how she just knew which direction to tighten. Skookum as frig! :-)
flippin adorable
This is now my favorite video of yours. Reminds me of my girls when they were small. Now all grown up and my biggest regret in life is not stopping to enjoy them and let them ‘help’ when they asked. Glad to see you not making that mistake like I did. Thank you for sharing that.
It makes beyond happy when chickadee comes and helps. You are one great father ave.
She is the best kid in the world. You keep up the great work. She is 100% learning the ideas you talk about. Wow...
The girl sees a screw from the hardware store faster than she sees a flower. Someone has been in the shop a fair bit!
somnambulus love the face!
I honestly believe that if more kids had parents like you then the world would be a far better place, your a great man Mr AVE, thanks for all you give to this community I know for a fact I'm a better at my job because of it. Thank you.
CAKE !!! AS the pump wobbled ; abandoned by its attendee
+
Absolument
Prioratays!
But the cake is a lie!
its the same in our workshop when somebody brings in cake ... work just stops
We've watched both you and little chickadee grow up through all this. I am proud to call you my uncle bumblefuck.
Love it when we are blessed with Chickadee's presence. How sweet.
She's a grown so fast! Absolutely love hearing a childs inquisitive mind at work.
My little girl is almost 6 months old and I couldn’t get more of a smile listening to you and her. Thanks for the vid as always sir.

keifsanderson he must have gotten used to those "wooshing" sounds as things go right over his head.
I've seriously never seen a child this well behaved before, and kudos on teaching her french
Trust me, i'm canadian too, most canadians don't know french, or if they do, they learned it in school

Just no. No more channels with kids actor please. This was really cute because it was unplanned and rare.

wardrich as a 27 yr old who knows nothing about mechanical things, I'd be okay with this.
Normally nothing sucks more than training your replacement, but I'm betting in this case it was a treat especial
Dammit, that hit me right in the feels. Isn't that what we're all doing when we take our kids out to work on the car or fix the house, training our replacements?
I love that Ave doesn't simplify his language when speaking with his chickadee. She will be light years ahead of her peers. Awesome.
My daughters are both in their thirties and they are pretty good people but your daughters little voice sure makes me long for their younger days. They grow up so fast, enjoy all the time you have with them.
Your disembodied child is beyond cute dude.
Disembodiment is hereditary, apparently.
When tightening the screws i was expecting her to say ."uhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrggggggg.............CLICK"
The world's cutest trochoid pump video! So sweet... Glad to see chickadee in the shop with daddy again.

CallMeVexed very informative, thank you for your service
actually he could work in a warehouse with an industrial microwave, the protection on them isn't enough to protect people's junk
“How does that work?”
Words I can’t wait to hear from my 17-month-old daughter.
JohnnyRottenest one. Your daughter is one.
Conversion to year is pretty easy, you can use a calculator to divide by 12. Forget the decimal, who care
1-7/12 yeas.
Yeah. And She listened for the answer too.

Chickadee level explanation is best explanation.
Saw this from reddit I love how you talk to your daughter. You dont treat her like an kid. You dont talk to her like a kid. Which is great! Thats how you should talk to everyone.
This video warms my heart. A loving father is something that you rarely see anymore
"But then I can't cuss" "That's okay" God damn chickadee calling you out on your shenanigans.
Edit: I've seen apprentices with limper wrists then her!
She is going to go far. Smart little girl you are raising there.
"you want some poppa?"
this is the cutest video I've ever seen.
I feel like I'm in a way back machine.
This one's three years old and it's your second best video ever.
I'm going to keep searching there's freaking gold in here. 😁
Thanks for sharing, it proves you an actual human being, raising a clone. 😱😱😱
Father of the year, right there
One day when you explain the birds and the bee's to your children, please post to CZcams. Something tells me it will be absolutely histerical.

You can have this sort of interruption during filming anytime AvE - that was just adorable and awesome! She sounds like she is a smart cookie! :D
Nothing better than a father being a dad... Well done..👍 My daughter loves to pop in my videos from time to time.
