Slings honestly are holsters for rifles are should be as essential as an optic/sights. They make pistol transitions and long trips much easier. Don't need it? Rubber band or zip tie it to your rifle.

Great video today. The essential accessories are spot on and the luxury items are as well. I'd personally add a foregrip as a luxury accessory as well as a magazine coupler to enhance reloading. Also, great mention about theag pouches. I have mag pouch for my M1 Carbine that fits 6 standard 15 round mags and a bandolier that will fit up to 12 more.

You also need a cleaning kit (cleaning rod with jag/brush or pull through, lubricant and patches). Range gear such as eye and ear protection is needed if you intend to practice although you may be able to rent at the range.. Some sort of gun case is also a good idea as open carrying your gun from your car to the firing port is at least frowned on if not prohibited by most ranges, at least in the NY/NJ area.

Everything you have shown is pretty academic. My inquiry is on ammo. I have noticed most people talk about ammo in a way that makes me question the reason behind their belief. Brass ammo v. steel cased ammo, ie. Russian ammo. People say, buy Russian ammo to practice on and but keep your brass ammo for SHTF. IMO if the Russian ammo is good enough to practice with, it's good enough for SHTF and was a lot cheaper.

Great Video! I agree with everything you said. I personally would bump the sling up in essential ness but I understand what you mean about it not technically being needed. I'd also add it's good to test the ammo BEFORE you bulk buy. Worst thing is getting stuck with a ton of ammo that's unreliable. I definitely need to pick up one of those mag belts.

Ah, me at Ethiopian 8mm.. lmao. Ive got these mag pouches for sale on my store, linked in the description. Comes with mags if youre in a place that allows them. Or you can find them on ebay with some digging that dont include the mags.

Also: Don't buy cheap sling swivels, They WILL break.
