Fun fact: The glow in the dark design in the contaminated area is the original Elder Sign from Lovecraftian Mythos, its one of the few things able to protect beings from the influence of the great old ones or deter their children to any degree.
Every Gmod or Minecraft upload from this guy fills my heart with joy.
46:36 it's especially important for skeletons to stay hydrated. A few minutes without water and they'd be bone dry
Oh yeah, you don't wanna meet a dehydrated skeleton, it makes them cranky. My last encounter with one left me *rattled,* it was really *bone-chilling.*
The enthusiasm at the beginning when he says "Gary's Mod" Fills me with life
I really think that teleporter easter egg was a reference to a game series called "Submachine"
That line is a quote from the second game
Also the music of the creator room is from the game series too
The smile room is likely a a reference to the Smile Room urban legend, created by Trevor Henderson, the same person that created Siren Head. The painting around the door is identical
I wouldn't be surprised if I looked out my window and saw a leprechaun waving back at me with the sheer luck I feel realizing I can sit down and watch a new librarian video while eating a whole jar of peanut butter by myself
Been there. I hope you're either twisted enough to be doing that on purpose and get enjoyment from it, or that things soon get better monetarily for you. ♥
@@BananaWisp I assume the former, because in my financial situation I could only dream of being able to afford eating an entire jar of peanut butter in one sitting
i read leprechaun as leopard and somehow got more scared than if i read it right the first time
@@varahunter68 What's so scary about seeing a lucky leopard outside your window waving enthusiastically at you at 2:42 AM on the date of 12/18/2023?
1:43 Since watching the interloper arg that sound causes a Fight-or-flight response in me.
yeah i've noticed that too, those twinkle sounds are scattered more throughout the video
The tiling in the room and the symbol on the wall at 22:02 are straight out of The Black Lodge from Twin Peaks. Someone's a David Lynch fan.
glad someone else got the reference, i hadn't even seen the floor until he pointed it out, I just knew from the symbols on the wall
Of all the cool extras on this map, my favorite has to be the SCP-173 one because its simple but slightly creative. You wouldn't understand the reference at first, and the statue looks nothing like the famous image and instead keeps it simple, a concrete and rebar sculpture. Its also interesting that its in an urban map instead of a map more similar to an SCP site, being some secret government base, it creates this interesting idea in my head that this is 173 and where it came from and how it was discovered
I cheered when The Punishment Chair appeared!
Great reference with the Smile Room to an actual Asylum in reallife. I think it was the boys over on TPP who found that somewhere, I'm unsure.
Mr Librarian if you ever find yourself in Kentucky, there happens to be a large abandoned elementary school in a small communion town named Philpot. It would make an amazing Urbex video I think. It was abandoned in 2005 but feels like it hasn’t been touched in 200 years. It’s crazy how easily such large buildings can just rot away with a little harsh weather and some time. I’ve been there a number of times and it’s always sad to see the paintings on the walls from little kids long ago. I’ve been there during the night and during the day and while it’s certainly more creepy during the night, standing in there during the day gave me such a sense of just...melancholic agony. Also the first time I went there, it was still owned by somebody and there were security guards patrolling and we had to climb through the second story window by hoisting ourselves up a tool shed behind the building. It’s amazing we didn’t get tetanus or something lol.
The room with the concrete and rebar statue is a reference to SCP 173 most likely. The room with the spirals might be a reference to Junji Ito's Uzumaki
"Does this mean I'm a Power Ranger now?"
Not unless Zordon's done a _serious_ wardrobe revamp....
It's a dark and stormy night here at my house..wanted to find something cozy to watch, so first thought, "The Librarian is cozy as hell!!"...and once again, he never fails...thanks for all your hard work on these and for sharing your adventures with us
I never watch these when they first hit. I save them to eat dinner by and as you say he never fails to deliver.
It makes sense that there is no way to get to Backrooms without noclip, because the original post that invented the Backrooms stated that you end up there if you noclip in the wrong place.
1:09 to those who knows, those jingles are absolutely horrifying.
I was doing something completely different in another tab and heard them and instantly knew
Trueeee I thought I was the only one 😂 those jingles made me almost close the video
Very realistic Urbex experience between the textures, the lighting, & the VR shake.
Was not expecting it to end with Spelunking.
I still don't have a VR headset but the day I get it I'll for sure try to play a bunch of the maps The Librarian showed us. Just to truly see what's the difference between a flat video and being really there.
it really is a big difference, its so immersive and you'll find yourself getting scared at the most meaningless things, really a great experience!
Suggestion: maybe if you noclip through the painted door, it'll take you to the backroom? Since you 'noclip' out of reality.
I’m pretty sure you entered in through a body chute/body transportation tunnel and also the bright white lights scattered about reminded me of the safe havens from Alan Wake
Joining up with that Signalis guy - it'd be a great fit I think!
There's a tiny pedestal under the can graffiti in the backrooms room. Maybe placing the yellow can on that is the trigger.
This map has reminded me of one beautiful thing Half-Life 2 captures: Man-made structures abandoned, pillaged, vandalized, forgotten... reclaimed, and repurposed. Cozy little spots the Resistance has carved out for themselves, like spiders in the attic of Combine occupation.
That cave system was amazing! What a great map to explore! Thanks!
No shoutout for the Twin Peaks room? Unbelievable
While watching this video my computer crashed and restarted. I still don't know how that happened but it was the most creepy thing I ever experienced while watching the Librarians videos.
I just watched some CZcamsrs play hide and seek on this map and now it’s a whole different vibe
I really hope that you’ll Get To play SOMA on this channel one day ! It’s a little bit old (2015) but It’s a Great game Being Scary/Unsettling without cheap Jumpscares, and It’s a great way to get an Existential Crisis 😄
GMOD VR exploration
The first gnome was hovering and glitched, that's why they all disappeared.
I would have went down the drop shoot in the "Smile room" first. If it messed anything up it's so close to the beginning it doesn't matter.
the day version has different events too, its so cool
Did anyone else read "TO BACKROOMS - IT REAL ! : ) "
In Vargskeletor Joel's voice?
Love the gmod videos, but I hope you’ll also return to vrchat soon. There are some really cool maps I’d love to see you explore
this video is the first time I've seen someone jump scared by a wojack, congratulations!
I liked the Twin Peaks graf
Your voice can haunt or calm people
29:40: I completely gushed over this reference!
You know sometimes i wonder how hes not scared by this but then i remember he does this in real life sometimes.
Also if anyone wanted to know, that jingle sound effect is also in the umbrella man Source ARG, not sure if it's related but it is in gmod...
37:34 😂 great sound effects
29:46 THAT'S A REFERENCE TO THE POINT-AND-CLICK GAME SERIES CALLED SUBMACHINE
34:00 those symbols are the elder sign from the cthullu mythos
Something I should make mention of is that some buildings will still be connected to the grid... usually because the local governments eventually plan on doing something with those buildings typically. If albeit almost always never. (Commonly hospitals are often the ones that almost always still have grid power to some extent.) Though yes if you see signs of illegal inhabitants within the building it is safe to call local authorities to check it out and see who was there.
23:58 it seems like they must’ve been in this type of job before joining black mesa
hey librarian you should play among the sleep
This is one heck of a map! Surprised you didn't appear to register the twin peaks references in one of the rooms though. Figured you'd be right on top of that.
Symbol at 21:55 is from Twin Peaks.
I looked up from something and saw it and went “that’s Twin Peaks.”
Im in 3rd year engineering studying for finals and I watch your gmod vr videos during my breaks to bring down my blood pressure
Me: he is going to say “oh this is so cool.”
Librarian: “oh this is so cool.”
Me: 😆
He picked up that can!!
naughty kids sit in the punishment chair 💺
Can say this: The day variant has minor differences from the night variant. Can't say the exact specifics on that but I can urge people to download and explore the day version first.
The enthusiasm of seeing "Naughty kids sit in the punishment chair" XD
Awesome video!
I love Gmod vr as always
Holy moly
I think you should play a GMod map of mine called "Tranquility", I think you'd enjoy it and maybe it's successors too
Gmod videos are the best. Viewcount should back me up lol
Man i love your stuff
24:18 ngl the soyjack was the scariest thing here /j
9:44 Librarian didn't recognise SCP-173
"Hello everyone, and welcome back once again... to Garry's Mod." *Cue Perfectly Timed Thunder*
I love the Gmod videos better than any other thing he does on his channel but personally I think it is good for him to play different games other than Gmod. So keep it going buddy. But I would like to see maybe a Gmod video every 2 weeks. Maybe week like Gmod week or something like that?
There's a Britain-based paranormal group on CZcams called "Ghost Theory" and they occasionally find that a house abandoned for literally years still has the power on! Go figure!
Wooooooo finally
9:49 bro just found 173
i feel like Gone Home would be a good game for him to play
33:02 - could have sworn I saw a sillhouette walking at the other end of the hallway.
17:35 Man I love that show too. I grew up watching that shit
If you noclip through that backrooms graffiti you can see the backrooms area
You should see if gmod realism and reshade works with VR to make it even more real.
21:45
How did he not notice the Twin Peaks Red Room floor pattern!?
Put the yellow can in the wall where the can drawing was.
29:21
HOLY *_FVCK_*
THE TELEPORTER AND QUOTE ARE A SUBMACHINE 2 REFERENCE!
_THE ENTIRE THING IS A SUBMACHINE REFERENCE_
26:21 but you are gonna become civil protection
40:06: *"I ' L L S P L I T Y O U I N T W O"*
2:31 boiiinng
14:05 damn it's insane how beautiful some of these maps look when you aren't religiously beaming a flashlight down them 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
(dont get it twisted i DID grab my phone to be an asshole here but i've been binging your stuff on t.v.
i like your stuff otherwise but this annoyed me a bit)
33:42 me a person who plays KaiserReich redux: Lovecraft New England
I think I know what this map is based off of lol....The Proper People did a video on an asylum with the smile room in it
help i cant use the mod anymore
because my hands wont appear and i cant access menus
The biggest grin around 10:50 hahah
I wouldnt be upset if you uploaded more g mod videos.
Anyone know if the video has jumpscares? I wanna save it for the night
9:50 literally SCP-173
Librarian is a type a guy that would say " Based? Based on what? "
play the Arkham series
Video 23 of asking to do more from the fog
Aslume time
Don't feel bad, I did the same thing with the backrooms graffiti.
"you know what rhymes with lock"
*Loads gun*
You all know what rhymes with lock! *It's time to use the safety Glock.*
