Thanks for this. I have a newly acquired '54 MSS with the KTT kit installed. While investigating some clutch issues, had the primary dismantled fully and found some issues with the front belt sprocket assembly. The sealing plate was not stuck to the crankcase as the kit instructs. A 4.5mm thick spaced was present between the sprocket and this sealing plate, presumably to get more clearance away from the inner primary cover opening, where there was some sign of paint and metal contact. According to Kevin Thurston, that 4.5mm spacer is not part of the kit and being pressed against the sealing plate, it must have spun against the plate, gouging the alu plate surface. Kevin is sending me the correct plate placement jig to hold plate correctly while sealant sets up. Also noticed the inner primary case opening around crankcase appears not for be concentric to crank and slightly pushed outwards at the forward side compared to the read side of the opening. The clutch end of inner has been adhered to the gearbox using some kind of sealant and no cork gasket. I'm thinking this might have placed the inner case closer to the gearbox surface, making the forward end sit slightly angled away from crankcase, giving a high edge for the front sprocket to rub on. Need to remove the inner, and fit the cork gasket to see if it helps, but have to find some way to dissolve the adhesive first.
