Yeah..we'd never give up Matty P. That's not even a thing.
I hope the flames get some good players in return
The bruins don’t have the cap space to swing a trade like that, plus it would be incredibly stupid for them to get rid of a budding superstar in Poitras. I could see Jake Debrusk and Matt Grzelcyk being packaged up to dump some cap space and open up additional opportunities if they are going “all in”
I heard rumors of them possibly trading forbort and grzelyck which would free up close to 7 million
What's forms and grz's contract status?
@@colincruznoosty9819 3.675mil for gryz and forbort is 3mil both UFA’s at the end of the season
@@colincruznoosty9819 both will be ufas
@@colincruznoosty9819they both expire after this season
As a bruins fan there's no shot they get rid of poitras. We are desperate for center depth for the future. You want Beecher or lysell you can have em
For the Bruins, why not just wait for Hanafin to become a UFA, sign him for nothing in the offseason???
Because he might be under contract with another team who is willing to give up assets for him now. Like Tampa.
Also because they need to win now. They have some players in their prime and the east is pretty wide open asides from Florida. An elite top pairing D would change their team a lot.
Ideally that would be the best for the Bruins because this roster isn't good enough for the Cup.
Even with him the bruins are a one and done they don’t have a first line center or the grit to win a 7 game series. Let alone the fact the Bs cupboards are bare
Agreed! If he is around as a ufa sure but tbh with lindholm mccavoy Carlo and the emergence of lohrei I’d rather they don’t go for hanafin at all.
Please take debrusk
Griz, Debrusk (double sign n trade there) as well as 1st and 3rd
Boston’s 2025 1st and Matt Poitras would be a good place to start for Hanny. Can’t believe he turned down $7.5M x 8 to stay in Calgary
There are conditions on next years first, it can’t be traded yet
@@dionmorray5933 I didn’t see that at first. Maybe their 2026 1st then. I haven’t delved all the way into Boston’s prospect pool, but it looks like they have a ton of centres, which is the area where the Flames need to improve most. Would love to have Poitras though.
@@jasonkh4poitras isn’t touchable imo the bruins are desperate for a top six center and he might develop into one for them
Lysell + a 1st would probably be the trade or something similar to that in terms of value
@@edited1325 Lysell seems like an interesting prospect. I’d have to dig around a little more to see what else the Bruins have in their cupboard, but I’m confident they have plenty to make a deal work for Hanny. As far as top-six centers go, don’t forget that Boston was interested in Lindy for a while before we moved him, and he’s as yet still UFA at the end of the season. I wouldn’t assume that Poitras is off the table
@@jasonkh4 yeah their prospect pool is underrated in some ways and is certainly better than what Tampa has right now
To all Bruin fans...
As a huge flames fan who watches every game, my honest assesment on Hannifan is that at the age of 27 he is literally just starting to scratch the surface as a very high end con smythe calliber dman as he's just starting to hit his prime, especially this year...hannifan said he would like to go to the lightning so picking him up in the offseason may very well not go your way...
But if it ends up agreeing to a sign and trade you for 8 years trust me, you will not regret it even if you had to give up skme solid prospects...
As i said, I can easily see a con smythe coming as hes starting to become pretty frickin flawless...if anything he may make a pass leading to a give away once in every 5 games or so but its very rarely in the d zone (leading to nothing) and sht, everyone makes mistakes...
He plays against to leagues top players for 24 mins a game and never in the minus...and always puts up points and he's just getting started and will definitely help the bruins get back in the winning coloum on a more consistant basis moving forward.. just saying...
Nontheless good luck this year and if Hanny is a bruin I'll most definitely be rooting for ya guys as ya go in a serious run...
Cheers 🍻
We would absolutely love to have him.
But apart from DeBrusk and Grzelcyk we just don't have the trade assets.
Maybe Fabian Lysell and some future mid-round picks.
So, I'm just hoping that some other team overpays for him as a playoff rental and we sign him over the Summer.
Without Bergeron and Krejci, we need a solid 2-way, top-6 Center and a physical veteran for the 4th line. Yes, we have Pasta and Marchand but our offense is inconsistent.
As a bruins fan if they trade poitras or lohrei I’m gonna be pissed
Lysell is about it if I’m giving up a top prospect hanifin is seriously overrated
I agree.
I wish the Bruins had given Lysell a chance.
I agree, especially Lohrei.
I think I'd give up Lysell but not Merkulov. Maybe send DeBrusk and Grzelcyk and a future 2nd round pick. But we just don't have the trade assets, without digging a deeper draft-pick hole. I'd like a less expensive, hard-nosed veteran for 3-4th line, who is excellent on PK.
At this point, I'd take my chances with Lohrei and Wortherspoon in the playoffs vs overpaying for Hanifin.
@@chrisnelson6763 Anyone who can win a faceoff.
Bruins won’t trade Poitras or Lohrei. It will most likely be Debrusk, Grzlyeck and Lysell and a pick
Detroit
I love how people are assuming he will sign for Boston anyways. He will be a UFA. He can easily take the money. Highest bidder. He hasn’t come out and said Boston is the only place he will go. He also hasn’t said tampa. Let’s see what happens. Too many assumptions based on rumours put out by “insiders” who are usually wrong.

--Hanifin, probably.

Cagary has 2 trades to do Hannifin and Markstrom.
Markstrom is not going this year.
Bruins are not going all in...this yr.....
Team definitely will not be trading Poitras for Hanifin. Would a team trade Bedard for Hanifin? Poitras has become the face of the future in Boston and fills the single most desperately needed spot for the team. Grizz and Merkulov are possibilities
Bs simply can' afford to trade away future 1sts.
DeBrusk and Grzelcyk and maybe a 2nd or 3rd.
Hard NO on Lohrei or Poitras. Fabian Lysell is a Maybe.
Otherwise Bruins can pick up Hanifin as a UFA over the Summer.
Let another team overpay for him as a playoff rental.
Poitras + lohrei + debrusk + grzelyck + 1st for hanifin Greer and Coleman with some retention
@@edited1325 I'm not sure why Bs would want AJ Greer back. He's decent but doesn't count for much. I don't see either Poitras, Lohrei or the 1st happening.
DeBrusk is a 25-30 goal-scorer with speed and good defensive play. Grzelcyk skates and moves the puck well and can be effective on the PP. The third player could be a prospect from Providence (Fabian Lysell or Brett Harrison?) Beyond that maybe add a second round pick.
That's the package for Hanifin in my mind.
And if another team can't sign him to a longer term deal, then we try to get him over the Summer. I
Coleman's a good player (but he's 32, so there would be increasing risk beyond these playoffs).
@@chrisnelson6763 bro have you seen grzelyck’s stats in the playoffs? In 63 games he’s a -19 with 14 points with 8 of those coming from the 2019 finals run
On top of that he always gets injured
The past 2 playoffs he’s played 9 games and has put up zero points in 9 games and is a -7
“Puck moving defenseman” y’all act like no one else in the league can do that and I’m tired of it
IT DOESNT WORK it’s time to move on from that failed experiment especially with lohrei bursting on to the scene
Hanafin will not be going to Boston before the trade deadline.. Done deal not happening it will be elsewhere
It’s happening you like it or not lol
How many number one draft pics does Boston have... he's not going there
Doesn't matter how many Picks Boston has. Hanifin has no Term left in his Contract and has stated he wants to go to Boston and won't extend his Contract with anyone else. He's from Boston, Went to College in Boston and has a large extended family all in the Boston area. If I were the Flames I would focus on Defenseman Mason Lohrie and Goalie Michael Dipietro who is a Blue Chip (Jeremy Swayman level) prospect playing in the American Hockey League.
@jafr99999 that's not true at all.. he hasn't said he won't go anywhere else.. he's actually stated he would like to be in Tampa. So that right there throws your theory out the window.
4th,5th and a 6th round picks is all boston has this year. They do have 1sts in 2025 and 2026. So It may have to be future picks and a top prospect
He is going some where, and you only got a week left then you loose him for nothing.
Ain't that the truth, I'll take next year's 1st and a prospect. Alot people won't be happy with that but I bet it's somthing like that
Georgii Merkulov Is Under Sized & Unproven In NHL So No!
Matt Grzelcyk Is Also Under Sized Especially For A Defenceman!
Matthew Poitras Also Under Sized He Is Skilled However So Maybe!
