How To Destroy A Disc (The Easy Way)

Want your disc to be unreadable? Then just put it in this Xbox 360. Note the disc was already scratched to bell to where it’s been unreadable prior to this, so I decided to do this video before I replace the disc drive. I so happen to have a perfectly working disc drive in that red ringed falcon unit, so I’ll stick that in this.

Hey so I don't know if you've done this before, but just to be clear, each disc drive is paired to each console. The only way to replace the entire drive is to either match the DVD keys on the console and the drive, or swap the main board on the drive.

I actually just tried it and you’re absolutely right. I tried using a disc drive from a falcon unit, but it doesn’t quite work right on this console.

​@@XboxConnoisseur994I just looked it up and apparently if both drives are Hitachi or Samsung (they have to be the same brand) you can just use a screwdriver and swap the boards between drives. It makes me wonder how any third party repair shops did drive swaps back in the day.

It's the belt they use to pull the tray, the original Xbox had the same problem. It's an easy fix but kinda annoying how frequent it is. I guess they used really cheap rubber.

When you have rickety disc trays that don’t seem to open, you don’t smack the top of them. You push them in and then they come out.

Looks like the rubber band of the disc tray is old.

Judt replace the rubber bands that opens the disk drive and you should be fine

The laser is also shot tho. What I plan to do is use a drive from a different console and putting the board from this one into that one and it should be good as new.
