Due bellissime voci di cui ci ricorderemo per molto tempo. Jerry Hadley ha lasciato un vuoto notevole del mondo dell'opera, con la sua bellissima voce sempre a fuoco e uno smalto fresco.
Hadley outings Hampson, who is nevertheless not bad in this recording. And it's the rare sight of Maestro Williams on the podium that completes the lovely picture.
Where do all these comments about Hampson being a tenor come from? He won Met regionals and the Met final as a baritone and has always performed as a baritone. He is especially known for his Figaro.
Che squillo il tenore Jerry Hadley! Hampson è un baritono molto chiaro, ma d'altronde lo erano anche Nucci, Cappuccilli ed altri. Personalmente preferisco quelli più scuri. Ottimo duetto comunque. 🤩🙏🙏
Hampson won the Met auditions as a baritone. In the Northwest division, he sang the Largo al factotum and was the audience favorite. The following year he won in San Francisco, which qualified him for the New York finals, which started him on his international career. The year after, he produced a semi-staged version in Spokane to thank local supporters - singing Figaro, of course.
I love both of them, but since people are talking about this I thought I’d jump in. Voices don’t fit into specific “parts”. That’s a stupid idea to believe in, since voices are so different. If you do want to use the Fach system, Thomas Hampson is a high baritone, but a baritone nevertheless. He can sing in a tessitura that’s a little higher than a normal baritone’s, and that’s what makes him perfect for high baritone parts (including carmine burana, which I love him in). He is leagues ahead of many of his colleagues in terms of his acting, technique, and language. If you really couldn’t spot his genius in his clip, opera is not for you.
MARVELOUS!!! HAMPSON PROOVES HE IS A BARITONE IN THIS PERFORMANCE. THEY MAKE ME WISH THE WORLD COULD COLLABORATE AS WELL AS THESE TO SPECIAL TALENTS. IAN KAYE
@Barone Vitellio Scarpia Not my ideal list, but a darling of operatic big houses...beyond timbre of voice, he is to me, like an engineer, mechanically stiff,
@Barone Vitellio Scarpia cannot disagree, and I saw a few other listeners complaining on that. But he is the GO_TO_Baritone for Met and have a lot of fans, if you go to his singing on Steven Froster's beautiful dreamer, will feel even more so, but it is a great classic hometown song for him.
RIP Jerry Hadley😥
Straordinario!
Jerry Hadley RIP
Wish hadley be here on met stage still... precious tenor!!!
Two gorgeous voices! Bravi!!! I love them
Omg! Love Hadley in this.

EXQUISITO DUO

This is very good and Hadley doesn’t squeak like a lot of Tenors who sing this

I assume they were talking about technique. Hampson just doesn't have enough core in his voice to be distinct enough from his co-stars
Great -- enjoyable - nice score -- great voices.
Two tenors. Anyway, beautiful
BRAVO!
Bravissimo Jerry Hadley! Hampson is a tenor singing a baritone part...

Two tenors singing. One who's really good (Hadley) and one who thinks he's baritone (Hampson)

Hadley è MERAVIGLIOSO!
Hampson... No.
adoro Thomas Hampson

Hahaha, Hampson proves he is a tenor with no high! Listen to del Monaco in Figaros aria.
@@vitabella6481 ohh yeah. Definitely. Hampson is a lyric tenor. Hadley is how he would have sounded had he sang in the right reportoire
Hampson very suited to Rossini he is good actor and has easy top notes
bravissimo il tenore .
il ''baritono'' e' un tenore corto .
questa e' la mia modesta opinione .
il vecchio
Giusto, Hampson is a big show man producing a lot of hot air.

Carissima amica, saluti cordiali!

Horrible hampson, horrible "si, si". Marvelous Hadley
sharp ears, love Jerry, but never understand why Hampson is rated so high,

Hampson is great baritone but his voice does not compliment the tenor in this duet.
Baritone is ABSOLUTELY VOICELESS
