Can you imagine how this game would turn out if there was a promotion mechanic?

I believe the RA3 mod The Red Alert which brings RA1 to the RA3 engine does unit promotion
There is a mod for that.
But it crushes the balance in the game
But it definitely makes units more important.
@@eduardmart1237 It is the mechanic that makes C&C games (RA2 onward) and BFME games so memorable for me.

afaik, once you build a prereq building for a unit then you sell said prereq building, you permanently have that unit in the production options. this is for RA1.
once you built a SD then sell it, you will still have access to MCVs
Only with the war factories that are there when it's built. If those get destroyed you'll have to build another service depot

Is the UK nation's special ability that they don't need SD to builf MCVs?
I didn't realize this in the first game, but if you build the SD and sell it you can still build an MCV. You don't need to keep it around. I assumed it was like other games and you needed the SD on the map to build.
@@OneSybert Idk if the remaster copies this, but I believe that's true only until they lose all of their war factories. Then they need to build a new service depot. Not that it matters if you don't have any MCVs around

In RA1 soviets are really overpowered
In RA2 allies are really overpowered
That’s interesting to say Sovs are really OP in RA1. What I’ve seen competitively doesn’t really line up with that.
@@OneSybert Maybe he means with aftermath units turned on (which they are not in quickmatch).
RA2 is probably the most boring to watch. just tanks. always.
