    Hi! Thank you for wonderful tutoring. It is one of the best on CZcams. I am actually Latvian. Learned that stitch when I was very young from my father’s mother.

    Almost couldn’t finish the second row, because my yarn was so twisted! I persevered, got it done and began row three and untwisted it. I looks great!
    Thanks, Marly, for another great tutorial! I trusted what you said, kept twisting the yarn, then untwisted it to a gorgeous purple/pink Latvian braid!

    • @carshagify
      @carshagify Před 2 lety +1

      Whenever you are knitting with two colors, the yarn gets twisted. I find the way to work this is to keep the twist far from your work -- just slide your fingers down the "loop" and keep 6 - 8 inches open -- and then untwist at the end of every row. This is simple -- just pick up the two balls of yarn and pull gently. The yarn will untwist will your work twirls around.

    • @MarlyBird

    If I knit this braid straight after knitting a few rows of corrugated ribbing in the same colours, do I still need to knit the set-up row or can I just go straight to rows 2 and 3?

    I am making a puzzle blanket and am trying to figure out a nice way to add the colors so that it looks pretty seamless. The Blanket is entirely garder stitch. I thought the Latvian braid might be a nice way to accomplish this, highlighting the transition, but am concerned the underside of the blanket will look odd. What are your thoughts. And thank you for the great tutorials.,

    • @MarlyBird
      @MarlyBird  Před 2 lety

      I think it will look great. It is really just reverse stockinette...with the floats and purl bumps making the fun look of the latvian. So on the other side it will curl like stockinette.
