CarPlay installation on Factory radio VW
Touareg 2011-2017 Heres the Video of the CarPlay installation is pretty easy it just takes time to remove parts and splice wires,kinda take me a little bit because those instructions aren’t right but I got it all figured out Sorry for my Accent but English isn’t my main Language 😂 if you have any questions let me know 😊

Hi Miguel, great video. I have everything figured out because of your video except for determining what factory wires to connect the 12V & ACC CarPlay harness wires to. I can’t decipher this from the video.
I spliced them in to the back of right the fuse box just make sure you splice them into the fused side use a multimeter or test light to see which one 12V & ACC ☺️
I can't figure out where to connect red and yellow wires
Are there any specific wires that are color coded etc.

Hello, I'm glad to say hello, when I try to connect the orange-green and orange-brown cable under the passenger seat, I found that there are two pairs of cables of the same color, and I don't know which one I should connect, I would really appreciate your help. Regards

Looks like it works well. Question though. When streaming music through an app on carplay, can you use the controls on the steering wheel to skip to the next song? Or does it not work while using carplay?
Nick Stepp it does work just like if you were using your phone I use IHeartRadio,Pandora,Spotify even my podcasts and I skip songs with the controls on the steering wheel also Volume works too
Hey are u there? I have a problem, my phone doesn’t connect automatically. Only after i go into BT menu, and looking phone and push “connect”.

Hi Miguel, thank you for the video. I have one question. It seems that there are several cable couples under the passenger seat. Some of them look the same as CAN cable couple. How did you managed to find the correct CAN cable couple?
Hi Ben theres only two sets of CAN bus either one works just make sure you follow the colors
@@Gdljal24 hey, first of all thanks for the video. I just installed mine but I can't get any sound to come through the system when using carplay/AA. I know media on the rns850 has to be set to aux, however it's greyed out on my touareg. I've even tried plugging my phone into the aux adapter supplied with the kit (directly into the quad lock harness), as well as using an MDI to aux in the center console. No matter what I do I can't get the car to accept aux input, it's just greyed out on the media source select menu. Any ideas?

Rami K about 2 hrs its very easy if you have some knowledge with wiring and I would pay $200 max for the installation

How did the head Unit in the glove box come out? Did you have to pull the whole glove box out? Mine is released but only slides out an inch or so, I can’t unplug anything in the back of it. Thanks.

on carplay the only thing you can customize is the wallpaper but only to the ones pre installed
Hi, Miguel. I'm wondering a few things: 1) can this be run with the phone wired into this system? 2) is there a VW Aux Cable to lightning Port for iphones that would likely work with this? 3) can bluetooth be turned on/off on the unit when needed?
Hello! to your First Question: Yes it can be wired to the the System via USB you just have to use your Ordinary lightning Cable once you plug your phone in, the screen will turn into Carplay. but you need to play the music thru the Bluetooth.
to your Second Question: yes part number is 5N0035554J or 000051446J however you need to connect your phone Wirelessly with CarPlay and use the AUX for Sound
to your Third Question: yes the Bluetooth can be turn off/on whenever you'd like

@@Gdljal24 Thank you. I was hoping there was a way to do everything without using Bluetooth at all, as both my wife and I have reactions to the frequencies. It sounds like it's a no-go for us. Thanks for posting this for everyone else :-)
Hi Miguel, Have you drawn up a better wiring diagram than what was supplied? My unit goes to blank screen when the LCD input & output cables are connected,Screen comes back when I plug original LVDS cable back in. What colour wire did you join the red ACC cable up to?, it's not clear on video.
Richard Golding I haven’t drawn a better wiring diagram because it was pretty easy for me and the ACC and constant 12V I used a light tester to find a source from the back of the Fuse box like you can get it from any wire as long that wire is switched
@@Gdljal24 Have figured it out, The guys that installed it had LCD out cable plugged into the original LVDS cable up behind the screen, after watching your video a few times I was able to swap the cables around and it now works, just have to learn how to operate it properly, Thanks for putting your video up,

Hi Miguel. I got this device or one similar for my 2016 7P. The device came with 2 USB cables and has corresponding connections on it. Not sure if yours was the same. Is one of them as a wired CarPlay backup? What would the other one be for?
Hi! Mine only had one USB and one HDMI the USB is for wired Carplay and the HDMI is for screen mirroring if you have two probably the other one is just for charging

at 1 minute 15 seconds you show close of of the can cables under the seat. it looks like the colors are the same that come with carplay box. I assume match the colors on those cables.?
Yes! They match color DO NOT Splice them with the wrong color because you will burn your ECU
hola miguel gusto en saludarte, instale el mismo modulo a una vw touareg 2016 funciona todo perfecto lo unico que no tengo audio del pendrive y del carplay por el usb, solamente el carplay suena por bluetooth, que pudiera ser, gracias,saludos
Hola Rui lamentablemente este dispositivo no tiene la opcion de mandar señal hacia las bocinas para que suene cuando lo conectas por USB aun no han podido dar como hacerlo asi que tenemos que usar el BT o el AUX para poder escuchar la musica
@@Gdljal24 Hola cómo estás, me contestesto la gente de joyeauto donde compre el módulo Interface en china y me dicen que tengo que conectarle el scaner a la camioneta y entrar a la unidad de control del radio y activarle el auxiliar al equipo original.en cuanto lo haga te estaré avisando cuál fue el resultado, saludos.
where do you hook up the wiring for the back up camera integration?
theres no need to hook up any extra wires for the backup camera
What did you plug into the back of the screen I installed this everything works except sound when I'm using carplay does something go behind screen to make the sound work
you have to use the Factory Bluetooth or your AUX Cable to get the sound going

Did you disconnected the battery to do it? Or doesn't matter,? I read online that the immobilizer Can come on, and the Touareg won't start

Hi Miguel, i have this interface installed my touareg just today. However carplay feature does not come even if i am connected with bluetooth. Secondly, there is airbag warning sign on the car. Electronics dealer told i need computer reset to get rid of this warning. What is ur idea on this? Is it because wrong connection or they r right telling that reset is required?
have you tried to plug it on the USB port at the interface? also where did you connected the CANBUS wires?
@@Gdljal24 the connection error was due to my phone settings amd updates... i arranged the settings and now can connect both usb and wireless.
The airbag warning sign disappeared after the electronic guys reset the car through computer. At the moment i have the full comfort of this interface.
The only remaining problem is that i cannot connect the interface wirelessly while i am connected to a wifi modem and it is said to be impossible to sort out. Do i need to open bluetooth while connecting the interface with usb?

Yes it does fits your 2012 this kit fits 2011-2017 Touareg must have the RNS850
Hey Miguel, the only issue I have is I’m not getting the turn by turn prompt from the maps. Everything else seems to work

No it works fine. Just no audio output for maps and Siri.

IF you did NOT install the microphone, HOW do you answer calls? or use Siri with the module? As far as I could tell, you MUST install the microphone to use Siri, or answer calls with Carplay, otherwise must use the RNS 850 Bluetooth.
I use the OEM Microphone
@@Gdljal24 how? Most instructions require the supplied microphone, they say OEM microphone doesn’t work.
I would like to ask the same. I'm pretty sure the original mic won't work. There's just no way to pass the audio to the unit.
