Having recently purchased an X100V, I am on a daily basis increasingly surprised with its capabilities. Your quite stunning video gave me great pleasure to watch and as a result I've ordered both the gimbal and Tiffen filter and even if I only get get just 5% of the goodness that you have managed, I'll be very happy. Well done Sir on this little gem of a film.
This is the video I’ve been waiting for ! Someone who found the right gimbal to utilize this cameras videos capabilities perfectly!! Great video thank you
I have a couple mirrorless cameras, including an x100v, that fit the Crane M2S. So I got one, in no small part because of this video, and I'm quite happy with with it so far. I have to point out, however, that realistically some re-balancing is required after transporting your gear. With the gimbal balanced to my x100v, for example, I had to un-balance it to lock it back into its storage/transport configuration. That is required to de-conflict the axis arms. Not a big deal, but not exactly a ten second operation to go from bag to first shot. But once balanced, until you need to stow it, it is that quick to get the camera off and back on. Thanks for the intro to a useful gadget!
Yep! Travelling with my x100v and m2s now, and I can say that's true. when travelling you definitely will need take time to balance when you first set it up. but now I just pack it almost folded up and managing to not need to rebalance it every time. Only time I'll have to do fully fold it up is when I fly home
Thank you so much! So helpful to me. I have been searching for one for my Fujifilm x100v. Your video has sold me on this one. By the way, your very good on camera as well as behind one.
Wow! The combo is amazing. Really looking for your thoughts and review about the x100v. I love mine as well. Curious about the duration of your video's and if you ran into heat issues. Was the audio through the camera? The simulations are incredible. Please tell us that you will create a video around using the x100v with dogs...please. (settings and autofocus preferences ) You are adding so much value to the world of creativity...thanks!
Can you post the recipe? I know you said classic negative 🙏 but what about the other settings? If you wouldn’t mind. Super dope video as well. Your shots were insane
*Does the record button on the gimbal work?* NO. At least I haven't figured it out with a cable. *If this video helped, please like it - and purchase the gimbal on Amazon using this link:* geni.us/0GcAMR :) *Other Questions* - Can you film vertically? YES. You can hold the gimbal a certain way and manually manipulate the camera to face vertical and forward, then it will stay. you have less range of motion when shooting this way but it still works great. - How is the Audio on the X100V? Not bad. the dialogue in this video was recorded with the internal mics. I would get the Wireless Go or DJI mics if you want to improve sound (remember that you'll need a 3.5mm to 2.5mm audio jack converter for the X100V
Big question - any pouch for x100v? not a backpack - just something super small to attach to ur belt or to hide in ur pocket but still ur camera being secure?
hello mister :) even if there is no xt100v in the compitable list of crane m2s, it looks that they compitable very well :) I had a xt200 but I think it's too weight for crane m2s.
Awesome video! Sorry if i missed but what are your AF settings in video mode? I am struggling a litte bit when me and the subject are moving. Maybe i am not at the right settings but it seems like there is no real tracking? How did you manage to get in focus footage?
Lack of IBIS was the biggest miss here from Fuji. Otherwise the X100V is brilliant. With a gimbal, it might be the best camera there is in this range - and possibly higher. Incredible, beautiful video, Keegan! Thank you so much for sharing. Headed to get the Crane M2-S now!
IBIS would be nice, but not sure if that would increase the size of the camera a bit? Or maybe they're saving it for the next iteration of the camera. tbh, after using the x100v for over a year I never once said "I wish I had IBIS". So maybe fuji knew something lol
@@KeeganRobin Good point. :) I only had a couple of instances where I wished I had slightly steadier hands. But I recently got the Crane M2S on your recommendation and, man, thank you. It made ALL the difference - as a gimbal generally will anyway. But I couldn’t have been happier with the results. I was so compelled by what I was seeing you get, I had to make the move getting the Crane. Perfect combo - truly. Thank you again for sharing, man! I’ve been using my Moment Cinebloom filter (similar to the Tiffen BPM with the blown out halo look, particularly around light sources) and that plus the Eterna film sim is just magic. Had to do very little grading after the fact (which I enjoyed).
Did u try a mic, i havw this combo and if i shift camera to allow mic door to open, i cant really get it to balance, the camera has to be pushed tight against the motor arm to work well. So if i move to left to plug in mic it is impossible to balance
YES! I just figured it out and sorry for being so late on this reply. you can hold the gimbal a certain way in PF Follow or Lock mode and it will actually work vertically. you just manipulate the camera to face the way you want (like use your hand to rotate the camera) and the gimbal will hold the position you leave the camera facing.
Can you please demonstrate or explain a bit more? I've been looking for ways to do this everywhere and also wasn't sure if the vertical mount actually would work with this camera/gimbal combo. Would be forever grateful!@@KeeganRobin
Hi, congratulations on your beautiful video, I have a question for you, do you think I can use the x100v with the right door open to use an external microphone? I am grateful to you for the answer.
Great video! I'm looking for light gimbal for my x100v video. When i use x100v + m2s for video or still photo, can I use the button on m2s for "recording" and "recording stop" without cable?(which connect x100v and m2s). x100v and m2s are operating by wireless? help me, please.
Thanks for this video Robin. I'm looking for a Gimbal for my x100v but I see you haven't used the USB connections. Is the gimbal compatible with the x100v? Thank you
I just bought this gimbal to pair with my x100v but I'm having trouble with being able to press any button on the camera when it's connected to the gimbal. What setting do you need to alter on the x100v so it can work with it?
Hey unfortunately that's a pain point a lot of people are bringing up. You can't control the camera from the gimbal - so no need to connect it with USB cable
The real question is how did you fit the peak design connectors onto the camera? Got them yesterday and for the life of me I can’t get it through the tiny hole.
@@KeeganRobin ah, I see. I had no idea there was a thinner, recalled version. Pencil sounds good though in going to try to stuff it. Looks so much cleaner without the triangle attachments the camera comes with 😎. Thanks for the quick response!
Not sure if anyone else asked this yet, but is there a way to use the gimbal's record button to start the x100v's recording? I have tried the remote port and USB port and can't get it to work.
this is common question - no you can't use the record button on the gimbal with the camera connected! It would be amazing if you could, but I don't mind hitting record on the camera
👏💯💐 A video Ive been looking for. So classic and so inspiring! Thanks for sharing! Quick question: how do you get around the x100v lens focusing noise? I see you didn't use external mic. Thank you!
Thanks!! yeah true, I noticed it. no way to get around it if you use internal pics. honestly it didn't really bother me, but I suppose if you're shooting some people talking it'll be more noticeable. on anything more than personal videos, I'd probably mount a mic on top of the camera to mitigate it a bit.
@@KeeganRobin can you please share your full video film settings. Classic negative any change on the WB, DR, Tone Curve? Color and etc...Does anyone know what interframe NR is?
Haha, yeah iPhones are really killing it.. but there's still this beautiful touch that x100v video has that iPhones don't have. ability to control shutter speed, and ND filter, which allows for motion blur makes it feel a bit more pro! and obviously the film sim colours are something else!
just checked, unfortunately the record button does not start and stop recording on the x100v :( I'm disappointed but it's not a dealbreaker, I don't mind pressing the record button on the camera
camera stabilization can work well to remove some shaky jitters in handheld footage but a gimbal is way better for really smoothing out camera movements, tilts, pans, and especially when you're walking it can remove the bigger jitters
yeah I've been there... especially in warm conditions it overheats pretty quickly. makes you really think about the shots you're taking and not overshoot.
the USB-C port is on the same side as the light/gimbal arm, so it blocks the port door on the camera from opening. I'm going to try to use a 90º right angle USB-C cable and slide the camera away from the side. it also depends on if the camera supports the external control
Fair enough! honestly it pulls off both! if you put everything in Auto you'll be generally happy with results, but it has all the features to make it a pro compact camera. I love that it can be both. If I don't care too much about how the shots turn out and just want to capture some quick memories, then auto point-and-shoot mode it is. haha. but on the flip side I've used it on professional event photography gigs and my clients loved the photos.
