One of the biggest offenders is Toblerone chocolate. The "peaks" have gotten thinner and the "valleys" between pieces is now massive.

Yes, products are getting smaller and they are using cheaper quality ingredients.
And the price of most all groceries doubles every 6-10 years. Same with rent and general costs of living. Starting wages though are about 30% lower than they were 10 years ago. Well, that's how things are in my country at least. Don't imagine things are any better anywhere else.

They're trying to hide inflation. Consumer psychology have barriers that don't recognize actual inflation. And to be honest, inflation is underreported because it doesn't take into account things like what's in the video.

While increasing the price, while not raising employee/production cost with inflation. I knew the big mac was much bigger back than because I ate one in the 90s and it's why I don't go to mcdonald. For the amount and quality of the food, they are charging 3x what they should.

It's not just that products get smaller, but they get more expensive at the same time.
Nope a lot get smaller while also getting more expensive. Whether it's the packaging or the product itself, a lot of good examples just weren't in this video. Some products even stayed the same in costs to produce but either got more expensive or got smaller, mostly the former.

I can remember as a kid the slogan for a Whopper was "it takes two hands to handle a Whopper" and it really did. I hadn't eaten one in probably ten years but bought one a month ago, I thought they made a mistake and gave me regular burger.

In the 80s-90s I remember Big Macs coming with a cardboard ring around them to keep them stable in the box. They weren’t enormous but they were definitely much more of a stacked burger than the squashed thing we have today. Maybe they’ve switched to thinner patties and bread to compensate for changing costs?
Tuna cans were 6oz. One per box of Tuna Helper. Now they're 5oz and Tuna Helper requires two cans of tuna. Yeah, I ate a lot of Tuna Helper.

I remember getting big mac's back in the 90's and they were definitely way bigger then than now. They are pretty tiny now.
i remember i could only finish half of it when i was 10 and having to save it for next time. now, my niece could eat that and 3 nuggets at the same age. big macs shrunk and Mc d's knows it
The bun may have shrunk, but the patties haven't. I worked in McDonalds in 1986 and the patties were 1/10 of a pound back then just as the quarter pounder was 1/4 of a pound. Both are still the same.

I am that one person. I know I ate one once, but can't say when (decades ago). Only remember hating it.
Little Debbie snacks used to be double the size in the ‘80s they are now.
Even back in the 90's my favorite one was the star crunches I use to buy the 12 pack box and they are like 60 percent smaller and double the cost now.

Yes, the Big Mac has went the way of the Costanza, "I was in the pool, I was in the pool." They sliced the patty in half, and a smaller diameter. Surprised that the bun has remained the same, so it makes the burger looks even smaller.

The Big Mac was definitely bigger during the 90’s. I remember this very vividly. I would always share it with someone because it was too big to eat by myself. In Sweden they had a limited edition version of it last year called the “Big Mac Grande”, which essentially was the same size as the Big Mac used to be in the 90’s.

In Europe we still got 2 liter also 1.5.

first time I went to Walmart MacDonalds it was significantly smaller than the stand alone restaurants , you could buy one from each and see the difference , few weeks later the regular ones shrank too , this was in the 90s

I'm old enough to remember when whoppers were the size of a midsized plate. A double with cheese was a meal in itself. You didn't need fries.

I agree, a mcdouble one of the cheaper options on the menu used to be 1.39 when I was 10. and a little over 10 years later? 3.09! Doubling the price in the span of 10 years is NOT acceptable, inflation is inflation but 222% more expensive in 10 years. that is 22% percent increase on average, if you don't worry about logistical growth. this is not okay mcdonalds!
