  • In "The Fight to Save the Hemlock," forest ecologist Donna Crossland discusses the threat of the hemlock woolly adelgid, a tiny sap-sucking insect that can kill an enormous hemlock tree within three to four years. But with a robust treatment program, it is our hope that the Hemlocks can be saved.
Hemlock plays a significant role in the ecosystem of Nova Scotia, which is already facing threats due to climate change and human impact on its environment. Step into the forests with Donna as she discusses the controversy of chemical treatment, how a highly targeted approach is being used to contain the treatment itself, and explains the concept of "protective stands" and biological control. With support, we can help the Hemlock survive and potentially be reintroduced back into the landscape. Ultimately, ecologists and activists like Donna are finding a balance between intervention and preservation.

We have hemlock on our property- which we love. I sit under them at least twice a week. Is there something we can do to protect our trees? Who do I reach out to
