little ships on parade at Miniatur Wunderland -a waltz with rc-ships

15 years ago a totally odd exhibition opened its doors at Hamburg / Germany. Since August the 6th 2001 the Miniatur Wunderland made millions of visitors smile.

Dieses Video habe ich schon zig-mal angeschaut, und immer noch ist und bleibt es ein kleines Meisterwerk in Bild und Ton. Zeitlos (auch wenn es eigentlich eine Art Geburtstagsgeschenk war), handwerklich sauber verarbeitet, herrliche Motive.

The "Spirit of Tasmania" entered service as "Superfast IV" in 1998 on the Mediterranean Sea. In 2002 she was renamed and taken to Australia. She has several sister vessels. The ship in the video is a model of the very similar "Superfast VII", wich is still sailing in Europe to date.

Das Miniatur Wunderland hat 16 Schiffe (und ein Schwimmdock), von denen jedoch nicht immer alle in Betrieb sind.
Die kleinen Schiffe der IG Mikromodell, die ab und zu zu Besuch kommen, kann man nicht so gut zählen, weil ständig welche dazu kommen. Meistens sind bei einem Besuch um die 20 Schiffe dabei.

No, it isn't. As far as I know the Revell kit is 1:400 scale. AIDA is built 1:100 scale.

The model was built by engineers of AIDA Cruises and Miniatur Wunderland. The scale is 1 : 115 to make the model as big as possible and still fit under the suspension bridge.

As Nordostseewoche told: Owner of the vessel is Miniatur-Wunderland. But we are allowed to cruise it some times :-) Or to use it as victim for our tugs....
