Cody may not have been the brightest but his heart was the biggest.
I disagree about his character not being bright. His surfer dude persona made a lot of people in and out of the show underestimate his intelligence, but he said and did some very prudent things throughout the series. He was one of the show's best characters.
I also disagree. He got a higher score the SAT than Dana, so he WAS the smartest, at least in that household.
Cody loved Dana so much, him being there to rescue her makes sense 💯 #CandD4ever
That was always the fun part about Cody: He came across as the Frank's wacky nephew who lived in his van, but dude REALLY knew how to fight!
Yes he did and this is what happens when you don’t take the time to get to know people. Dana could have learned martial arts from Cody if she had ever bothered to take the time to get to know him. So Cody has saved Dana’s life on TWO SEPARATE occasions now.
Back in 87 when I was studying martial arts I met Sasha Mitchell he's a legit badass
I have a feeling back then, you had to become a badass if you were a man named Sasha.
Oh wow that’s really cool.
He James Richard Beaumont in Dallas. J R son
@@lazeruslaz5724Sasha is usually a nickname for Alexander or Alexandra for a girl. It's Russian derivation
Wow that is so awesome 😎
Still a cool character after 30 years
Well, I'm warned up
♡ love it ❤️
Who doesn't love that 90's screaming coming from the live audience!?!
Sasha Mitchell did a great job playing Cody Lambert in this show. Even though he wasn't the brightest person in the world, he was still cool and was there for you at your time of need. I loved this show as a child!
Cody was one reason i watched this show.
The only reason.
@@slomotionproductions8005 well... Dana was a huge hit amongst us boys as well...
That creep was real bold to attack Dana right there in a public waiting area. It's a great thing Cody came when he did.
What's sad is that Cody saved her TWICE from being assaulted. Once at the bar and here, and she still treats him like garbage later.
Everytime Sasha walked in each scene, he got loud cheers and applause.
He was the most popular of the young cast, so him being fired led to the shows cancelation in my opinion, he and cody lambert was that popular
Let's face it, we all want a cody in our lives.
*in our beds*
If there were more people like Cody in the world, life would be better here
@@ForAmericanIndianRights yes, I agree with u on that one my friend.
Maybe the character but not the actor he beat the crap out of his wife
@@SirReginald. proof?
This is why Cody is my favorite character
Cody was always in need no matter what. He was that uncle, brother, friend, confidant, cousin that was always around the corner, or a call away.
Cody was like Michelangelo from tmnt in human form .
This right here!
Yes
Also like Launchpad McQuack from DuckTales and Darkwing Duck
He was, in a way.
Cody was always there when he was needed most in this show
Yeah, he was dumb as a doorknob but he could fight his ass off
@@bruceleeroy8302No it was proved he was smart scholastically he made a sat score than her remember.
Cody was a little book smart but very street smart and he could rebuild a car engine and anything else, he was balanced and coordinated physically he also had an interesting life and many friends so he knows a lot he just doesn’t show it.
That’s what made him so unique.
In comparison to Steve from Family Matters Steve was very book and cultured and he read erotica particularly D H White Lady Chatterly since he did quote her in an episode to Laura.
He was a consummate book work and a genius.
Both of them were just in different ways.
@@bruceleeroy8302 not really, Cody was just simple now Dana was kinda the worst
I miss the 90s so much
who doesn't..?? 😁
Elon is probably working on a time machine 😊😂😊😂

Cody is a great example of a man
That gets labeled as masoganistic

Didn’t he get in trouble in real life for domestic abuse?

Bill and or Ted meets Bruce and or Chuck. Gotta love the guy
Definitely 💯 awesome character 💯
This show was so underrated Deserved way more seasons

Sin Cody no servía, a Deyna la hicieron muy aburrida ya sin Cody.
Cody era el personaje clave
I think had Cody stayed on the show it probably would have lasted longer
That is my favorite part of the show is when he defends Dana
2:00 I love how they cheered for Cody
The 90s were such a great time. We had Cody in Step By Step, and Steve and his Bruce Juice on Family Matters. Lots of cool fighting scenes.
Yep and the Power Rangers
@@num1Jaysta Power Rangers came out when I was about 9-10 years old, and I was too old for that by then. Power rangers are for little kids mainly. I think I watched Garfield more at that time.
@@aznnp77 Okay that makes sense. I was a 5 when it first came out.
Right?!?!?!?
Ya know i think Full House, Family Matters and Step by Step were the best shows that really were meaningful back then.
Fresh Prince>>>> all of them, sorry bud.
The others were too cheesey. Only Step by Step and Malcolm in the Middle spoke depth
Don't forget about Hangin with Mr Cooper. That made up TGIF.
I agree, but hey, you left out Boy Meets World!!
No one mentioned Perfect Strangers yet...
My wife and I used to watch this show on Friday nights.
Such a great lineup!
TGIF!!!
@@patrickstapleton3377 My family and I used to watch TGIF before I went to bed. I was 6 or 7 at the time.
Whenever I hear the step by step opening theme I will always and forever think of better Friday nights gone by.
I remember watching this as a kid, this moment was unexpected and I was so surprised and jumped outta my seat, such a great scene..when I eventually saw him in those Kickboxer movies I realized he was always a badass =)
yeah and then well....domestic abuse.
@@dejatwixt9214 yeah thats wild, i didn't even know about that until yesterday, I always wondered why he wasnt on Step-by-Step anymore
@@dejatwixt9214 "In 2002, Mitchell spoke of the incident on Entertainment Tonight, claiming that he was protecting his children from his ex-wife, who was addicted to drugs at the time of the arrests. Mitchell ended up getting custody of their four children, with his ex-wife given limited visitation" Seems to be a bit more to the story
@@dejatwixt9214 Tell the truth! He was protecting his children from his ex-wife who was an addict. He ended up with full custody of the kids. I know people like him who have been railroaded because the complaining spouse is a woman. The kids should be grown now.
@@accountingmanager5964 i did tell the truth.
I love Cody ❤️. He was the best
Man that Cody was an awesome guy what a wonderful time and show that was great times
Cody is the kind of family you hope you have. Cause they got your back no matter what.
😊😊😊😊
Sasha Mitchell is a MONSTER now. He's freakin' massive.
Just the man you want on your team.
The "Code Man" is the man!!
Cody carried the show
Not really, because the show continued on after he was written out.
@@josephclegg3562you don’t understand what they meant🤦♂️
And the show sucked ass after he was gone. Fun fact he actually didn't start on the show until episode 4. Had he not joined the cast the series wouldn't have lasted past episode 10
Staci Keanan was beautiful. Probably still is.
RIP, Suzanne Somers!
I've never seen this scene, so glad I watched it, luv Cody and Dana🥰
It's time for Dana to be grateful--and call Cody a friend.
Cody was this show's Urkle. He literally saved this show from being a boring mess.
If that was the case, then how come the show continued on after Sasha was fired and the Cody character was written out?
@josephclegg3562 Uhhh if you actually look at the ratings history, the show was in freefall from a ratings standpoint after Sasha Mitchel was fired in the middle of season 5. Beginning with 5x20, the ratings begin to drop at a steady clip to the point where ABC actually CANCELS the show after season 6.
CBS picked up distribution rights for a 7th season, but ratings were in a steady decline. Things got so bad, that Sasha Mitchel was brought back as Cody to guest star in hopes of a ratings boost, as was Jaleel White as Steve Urkel. By the time CBS cancelled the show after the 7th season, the show had literally lost more than 75% of its audience. It went from averaging nearly 20mil viewers per episode, to a little over 6 mil. The show doesn't even have a proper "final" episode.
He was Fonzie
They brought in Bronson Pinchot to replace him, but the character was lame and unfunny.
Please don't degrade Cody like that. Cody was welcome, he didn't hust barge in when no one wanted, he didn't ruin things around the house. When Dana said no he was like okay, I still like you but I respect you, whereas Steve was a stalker who wouldn't take no for an answer. Yet his character gets glorified, I never got it.
Cody was like fuck around n find out
I remember when Cody first showed up on the show nobody thought he would end up being a bad ass. Who can forget the bar fight?
this one?? czcams.com/video/KWEWnzTZ1sc/video.htmlsi=A_g6dt_boev19u-3
Yes.
Cody saved Dana on more than one occasion, and she still treated him like trash. RIP Suzanne Somers.
Too bad he couldn’t save his wife from his own fists though
@@jonnyfendi2003 Cody is a CHARACTER. 🤦

Dana was very uptight at times 💯

Urkel saved Carl's life. Cody saved Dana's life. True heros!!
Cody spidey senses went off
Cody was always there for Dana.
ALWAYS and he never wanted anything from her.
His senses came on !
and what did he get in return ?insults lmao.
@@susanwjoh0re735 If I remember correctly, it was from this episode onwards that Dana started to stop being unpleasant with him
Cody in real life has a black belt in TKD..
He shows his skills the the "Kick boxer" series...
He looked like a model, which I'm sure he did (modeling)..
He was a likable character on the show..
Like a "Crissy Snow" from "threes company" but a male version
I always remembered this episode, but forgot the name of the show.
I did a Google search just now for:
80s TV show step brother and sister.
Even though Cody is Frank's nephew, I did not remember that part, as I had not seen the show since the 80s.
But luckily, my search turned up "Step by Step"
And then I searched for Cody Fights and found the "Bodyguard" episode, which led me to this video.
Thanks for sharing it, brought back a found memory.
Shows like these need to come back, as it showed the dangers of what is out in the world, and what to look for.
Today's shows are so sugar-coated as not to offend anyone that the messages are lost.
One thing about Cody, he had a heart of gold on this show.
Cody's the perfect 90's himbo ❤❤❤
I really do miss the old shows I'm getting old. 85 was a long ago. Sasha was the man.
Cody is the man!
Who's gonna pay for that coffee machine? 😂
He was so cute.😊
Good thing Cody looks out for her. Last time she was in danger was in a bar. Before that the guy she insisted she go out with despite her step father saying no.
I’m not sure if many people realized that Cody, the character played by Sasha Mitchell was fashioned from Keanu Reeves movies, Bill and Ted’s excellent adventure
He reminds me of Michaelangelo from ninja turtles.
Anyone who grew up in the eighties knew that. :)
That explains why he speaks like a Valley guy.
@@Father_of_Death Spicoli from Fast times on Ridgemont high.
Best Step Cousin ever! Dudesy!
I have often wondered if Cody and Dana might have someday become an item if Sasha Mitchell hadn’t been falsely accused and kicked off the show. A scene like this hints that it may have been possible, or she might have warmed up to him.
I thought that was the planned endgame.
They would have. That was the original plan all along. But his lying disgusting ex-wife ruined everything.
Cody and Dana are related you maroon. 🤦♂️ I dunno bout you but being an item with your cousin is disgusting.
@@michaelmorbid704 They're not even related. Cody's cousin's dad married Dana's mom.
So at best they're kinda step cousins, and you know that's all the rage along with washing machines.
I thought the same thing!!!
Cody was, without question, the best part of this show. But can we take a moment to stop and realize that Dana talked to her mother about hiring a hitman over the phone, while in a crowded bus station?
Sasha Mitchell got such bum wrap! His wife (falsely) painted him as a domestic abuser and ruined his career.
Yeah that's crazy
@@raheemhamilton8624 i read your comment with cody's voice....dude!!!
i felt like he manged to regain some of his dignity of when he made a guest appearance for the the final season
And some idiots still believe he did it years later, just because the truth isn’t in the headlines like bad press.
Is that why he got fired from the show and got replaced by the hair dresser?
What made this even cooler as a kid in the 90's, is that at that time, I found out that Sasha Mitchell is a real life martial artist.
The guy is like 6'3! He's got one hell of a reach over most people who would want to fight him lol. His character had such a big heart in the show, It was nice to see. I feel like the show really lacked in some of the later seasons where he was not a part of the show.
I know. Even now I think how disappointing it was he was written out. I've heard he was actually getting hired back on the show and was going to be a recurring character again, but then the show was cancelled unfortunately.
I know I remember in the 2nd to last episode he came back and it was explained he had been traveling the world for the past 2 years. While it was sad not to have him be part of the show for the last few years, it made sense that someone like Cody would eventually wanna see the world. It makes sense he wouldn't wanna spend the rest of his life in that van. 😂
RIP Suzanne!!
Step by step, day by day 🎶
When Cody left the show suffered!!
TGIF was an absolute staple growing up. From "Not the momma" to "Coosin Lerry" to Cody's iconic "Chaaahhh" ... its been over 30 years and I still remember the good times as a kid sitting with all my family watching these shows
Real talk he shouldn't have given him a chance he should have folded his ass up!
In Step By Step Cody was one of my favorite characters and I was so sad when he left the show later on in the series.
Cody has spider sense
Mess with the Codeman, you get the kickboxing
I remember the episode when his female prison pen pal sent him a custom-made license plate. CODEMAN
These two should have gotten together at the end, like Steve Urkel and Laura on "Family Matters". They had such good chemistry.
I wish I could protect such a beauty like Cody did. He's been my role model since my childhood. Love that show.
Cody dreams always be true he told carol and Dana that a man with a dark suit is gonna attack Dana… thank God for Cody
Dana is really lucky to have Cody in her life. I know that this is just a TV show and it's not always like that in real life, but we should all be so lucky in real life to have someone like that in our lives. Everytime she's in trouble, he's there to rescue her. She shouldn't be treating Cody so crappily.
Just like in another show, Family Matters, Laura Winslow, shouldn't be treating Steve Urkel, crappily. Like Cody for Dana, Steve Urkel, has always been there for Laura too. She's also been very lucky in that sense. It's hard to find people like that.
The lesson? Don't ever take such people for granted because they also have feelings and desires too.
The only show that was able to introduce his "Poochie" character and make it work.
Cody’s a sweet guy❤️❤️❤️
Too bad, the actor wasn’t as sweet as his character😕
Not to defend him but hope atleast his wife gave him one heck of a reason.
@@SirReginald. Stop lying, clown. His wife was the abusive one.

Great thing Cody saved Dana
dana always had an annoyance and disdain for cody so when she finally broke down and hugged him here i lost it. it really showed how terrified she was and how honorable and merciful cody was. really good scene. i didn't know as a young kid that Sasha Mitchell was actually a talented martial artist. after this scene i found out and was like no way!
Cody to the rescue
I loved this show because of the cody character lol. Weird how different he was in this role compared to the super serious fighting machine he played in the kickboxer sequels
He came to her side like 2 or 3 times this one & one in the bar.
Cool kick
If you wanna see "Cody" kick some azz, watch his movies : Kickboxer 2, 3 and 4.. Class of 1999 Part 2 the Substitute..
He did really good in the kickboxer 2-3movies
Cody was my favorite character and I hated when he was written off the show.
Exactly and the show sucked after that
Cody was removed from Step by Step after the show’s fifth season for a variety of reasons. Actor Sasha Mitchell, who played Cody, was facing domestic violence charges from the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office. This led to him being fired from the show.
@@AccidentalPreppper yeah and It was wife who was the one actually abusing there kids

Cody had a sixth sense and had kept bugging Dana all day and through out the trip and it all came down to this scene. my favorite moment is when the kids are in the final tuggawar competition Cody shows up and the other team's dad says he isnt family and cody goes dude im her fiance as Dana screams what?! she quickly says hi honey The dad also failed to realize that he's Franks nephew so he is family after all.
