2022 was supposed to be K's victory lap, but it turned into Roy's.
Coach Williams doesn't get enough credit for this.......not sticking around too long and being honest about his abilities. He loved the program too much to ride it into the ground with a subpar coaching effort. Thanks for the 3 titles coach!

His coaching effort was not subpar It was just different than what these guys needed
He didn’t make it all about him and do a farewell tour and that’s what separates dean and Roy from master splinter
I think Roy saw what was coming . He liked recruiting his own guys. Bot those transfers that really need two years to grasp the system. Roy is the best coach we've ever had....except for the DEAN OF BASKETBALL 🏀.

It really should. What an amazing win by my Hawks tonight! It sure felt like we were the underdogs! I am in that mindset that this win won't hit until tomorrow. But rest assured UNC FANS: your future is VERY BRIGHT with Coach Davis!

The real goat. Roy’s 18 seasons at UNC he had more Nattys, more final fours, more ACC titles than K, more wins in the ncaa tourney by far. But the media will never tell you that.
I'm a unc fan but will never say Roy is a better coach than coach K.

God I love Roy. I went to Kansas Basketball Camp when I was maybe 8 or 9 and have a picture with him. He had this crazy system to get almost 200 kids to get a picture with him in LITERALLY 10 minutes. He coached us on where he was gonna stand, and how we were gonna line up and where we were gonna put our hand on the ball. He said "if you take more than three to four seconds, you aren't going fast enough." We all got individual pictures with him and so have tens of thousands of kids at Kansas and North Carolina.

As a diehard kansas fan roy williams used to be known as "traitor Roy" amongst myself and my circle of friends, after he left and went to N . Carolina. Time heals though and now i appreciate Roy for everything he did for KU while he was here!!
Roy did an excellent job at Kansas, but most KU fans had to know in the back of their minds that when UNC came calling, it would be hard to turn down his alma mater and Coach Smith. I don’t see how you can call him a traitor. Plus he helped rebuild KU after Danny Manning and Larry Brown left.

The GREAT Roy Williams
Duke did not choke. North Carolina played well. Both teams wanted to win. We have regressed so much that student athletes only play one year and they are gone. Can you imagine if Duke and Carolina players stayed 4 years like they used to do...my goodness they would be winning national championships every other year.

Williams was an assistant coach for a log time while K was a head coach.
Roy graduated from UNC and was an assistant to UNC legendary coach Dean Smith.
