- Attempting to upload The Visitors' hard to find soundtrack. Hope it stays...
In 2016, Bel-Air Glamour Records/The Vinyl Factory released Ragnar Kjartansson's "The Visitors" soundtrack.
"The Visitors" is a nine-channel, HD video installation which transports the beholder to a peculiar universe: in the various rooms of the almost two-hundred-year-old villa Rokeby on the picturesque Hudson River in New York State, the artist, his friends, and residents repeatedly perform a “feminine nihilistic gospel song.” The individual scenes coalesce into an encompassing cinematographic tableau.

Seeing this in Dallas changed my life. I was in the midst of dealing with PTSD and wrestling with a gradual slide towards the nadir that would rule my 2019. The raw sense of human connection this exhibit gave me when I felt the most alone was so comforting, knowing that even apart I could have something to share with others, a universal connection through emotion and art. I just sat down and cried in that room in Dallas, some stared but I didn't care, I couldn't care when I had that around me.
I've just seen this performance yesterday at Tamayo museum, CDMX. Immediately I fell in love with all the sound, temp, voices and vibes this people gave me. I totally felt as home with a lot of peace and blessedness. Idk if it is the same performance in all the places but there they were showing on each screen in a dark room and it simply was magical. I was speechless.
This band recalled to me some folklore-rock bands that I've already known few years ago, like Edward Sharpe & Magnetic Zeros, The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons...
This exhibition changed my life. For real
yo escuche esta pieza en el museo Tamayo y dios fue una experiencia tan mágica y especial el estar ahí sintiendo la melodía en una cuarto cn 8 reflectores mostrando en cada una la interpretación increíble de cada músico tocando.
igualmente!
Acabo de verla ayer en el Tamayo. Toda la exhibición es una maravilla. Me voló la cabeza..
Saw this 7+ years ago in person at the Frist Museum and I carry it with me in my heart everywhere I go. It moved me deeply.
Thank you so much for this. I saw this piece in person well over 5 years ago and have never been hit quite the same since
Esta pieza llegó a México y nunca me enrriqueci tanto como hoy, me hizo latir el corazón.❤️🩹
Me pasó lo mismo cuando la ví en el museo Tamayo. Me quedé mas de una hora apreciándola.
ill never forget my first time experiencing this live
grad school,, just finished going through the city finding people to do a survey for school
there was a group of us, we split up into 2s
I had a small crush on the girl I was with - we were fond of each other but the words never came out
we decided to go to our contemporary art museum to wait for the others
all she said was 'oh yeah there's this cool exhibit you might like'
i walked in the room
i couldnt tell when it began nor when it ended
but all i know is that i never wanted to leave
i've never wanted to feel everything and feel nothing at all simultaneously
i wanted to smile and cry and laugh and yell
i wanted to melt,, be a sunflower chained to a field,, being pushed and tossed by the wind all the days of my life
whether i felt, or not
i just wanted to be
and there was no where else i would have rather have been than in that room in the entire world
now this is why i keep posting stuff here in my channel. i get all sorts of comments everyday. comments like yours keeps me going. i really hope you're having a nice day wherever you are and even if you're not: you can always close your eyes, play this and go back to that room again for a bit. happiness never lasts but that's what make the feeling so memorable, eh?
lovely
This is exactly how I felt when I stumbled on this exhibit a few months ago. I was having a hard time and I went there alone. it felt like the universe guided me to this museum because I felt like I was exactly where I was supposed to be in that moment. I felt true peace for the first time in months and I sat there for hours watching people come and go. So glad this was posted on here
Just walked out after 3 hours of this bliss....all the feeels ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for uploading this! I love this soundtrack so much ! I saw their exbitions in SF several months ago.
Seeing this in Boston was one of the most moving experiences of my life.
Im going to this exhibition in Madrid tomorrow, thyssen museum. First seen in Boston 3 years ago, failed to see it in LA, and now its tomorrow. So many emotions so much changed. wow
I remember seeing this at kenyon college's art exhibit. I wen't with a group of art majors and I just remember sitting in the middle of all of the projectors and just crying. The pure emotions and feelings felt hit so hard, especially since I was going through such a hard time at that moment. Will forever be grateful for getting to see it when I did
I am a custodian on this piece in a museum having this piece, love it so much, but wow people loves it too and somebody said to me that it was the concert experience of the year..... and I must agree.
saw this exibit its so sick and made me feel like woahh
Escuché esta GRAN melodía en el Museo Tamayo justo en mi último fin de semana en la gran ciudad antes de mudarme. Me trajo y me sigue trayendo tanta paz. Agradezco a mi mejor amigo por mostrarme tremendo performance.
i'm so glad i can have access to this, can't thank you enough, bless you!
This is my favorite one, I watched hundreds of video arts work. But this work Hit me even I never watched it in person.
Saw this in Penarth, Wales in 2014; certainly stayed with me

Its magnificent to see!!
Thanks for sharing this with us
just saw it today in Zürich, wow
I heard from a friend who saw it last night in ZH
Nice! I wish the vinyl were easier to find. This record is a little different from the video version, in that it cuts from the first cannon shot to the second time they sing “stars”, and it skips the outro after the second cannon shot. The skipped part hits just as hard as the rest of it, so maybe they just wanted something more succinct for the album version.
yes, it's definitely a re-recording of the song. it feels like ragnar meant that "this is the actual thing, the instalation version is just a bigger and played around version of this", y'know?
Where did you get this one? from the vinyl? or from somewhere else? I love this, but I'm still looking for the 64-ish min version, and I really couldn't get it :(
Yes, this is the vinyl version. The 60min version is not legally available anywhere, sadly. Though you can find full audio recordings from people who went there and stuff. I think this is my fav recording: czcams.com/video/GOnsTTrnZXQ/video.html
@@spepp_ Thanks for answering! I actually saw this installation on the broad in 2018 and I was desperately looking for it, but I couldn't. The best recording so far I found is this one czcams.com/video/qOxG711lb0E/video.html is actually vary clean and the audio is good enough. I'll let it here just in case it's worth to you or to someone else. Thanks again!
Does anyone know the name of the accordionist?
Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir :)
@@spepp_ Thank you!!!
