    Thank you! This video was right on time for me, here in Lansdale, PA (zone 7A). I am going out into my gardens today to trim back my lavender, and now I know exactly where to cut it.

    I have lavender in the pot I grew from seed and it did go a bit wood. Your video had the most visual explanation and so I became brave enough to prune.

    Just found you and I love your info. I just got my first lavender plant last summer. It's doing ok but definitely could be better. From what you've shown here I see what I did and didn't do that didn't help the plant at all. That will be fixed right away. Thank you.

      I'm in 5B on the Maine coast and I've had an English lavender going strong for about 4 years now and I've got a death thumb instead of a green one. Get a good winter cover like agribon -50 and it will be a great help! Best of luck!

    Lavender trimmings are great in the coat closet, repelling moths. It works far better than cedar. I put my branches in with my knitting yarns too.

    Im in northwest Indiana. Im new to home ownership and we had landscaping done last spring and had 4 lavender planted(proven winners). We did not have a good experience with our landscaper and we broke ties. I was lost...i know nothing about plants. Nobody wants to take the time to walk with me and teach me. So here i am on youtube. They did bloomed great when planted and i didn't prune in late summer. I have 1 super blue and ones that look like yours. I just pruned them about 1/3 but have no idea if its right or if i should have done more...gardening is hard lol

      Hi! Fellow Hoosier here! Gardening is something learned slowly over decades, just be patient and you will learn. And be ok with making mistakes, we ALL kill plants on routine basis. I hope you find some more helpful videos. New home owners is my target audience

    My lavender is potted on a Southern California rooftop patio. I noticed it gets very hot and they require slightly less sun and more water regularly. Any tips for maintaining their health in their pots on a hot rooftop? They were on death’s doorstep a few weeks ago, but the green and purple are slowly coming back.

      Consider repotting it into new potting mix and giving it a mulching on top

    Will the green stems left on the plant eventually turn woody? Will this make the plant larger and larger over time, by not being able to prune it small enough?

    • @plantvibrations
      @plantvibrations  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Eventually they’ll stop growing larger, but yes this often happens with Lavender

    Great info Devin, thanks! I have an unrelated question....I ordered the Falling in Love Rosie dianthus and want to know if I need to protect it for the winter (also zone 6b in CT) since it will be in a hanging basket?

    • @plantvibrations
      @plantvibrations  Před 5 měsíci

      Hi! You may want to give it some extra protection since your zone is right on the cusp

    Walking through our neighborhood in Los Angeles, I see large bushes of lavender that never seem to be pruned except for appearance sake and they just seem to bloom like crazy with very little care.

    I dig my 2 up every 3-4 yrs & toss. I did trim it. But it’s in full hot sun & grows like it’s on crack. 😂

      No, it will grow back- that’s not what I was referring to. Where can I find someone as nice as you to meet up with?
