    Ah yes, the first Ladies of Thrash hoist high their metal prowess for all to see. Paying homage to the great Rob Halford and Judas Priest while doing the song justice in their own right. I never would have believed that my favorite thrash metal band would be five little women from Japan, but here we are. Long Live the Queens of metal, Lovebites!

    Without doubt the absolute best cover ever made of this song. SMASHED IT on all fronts. Asami sounds vicious here... perfect! And the drumming - outstanding. But Midori and Miyako went to town here and nailed it - including the correct effects on all the guitar parts. Insanely good! 🎸🤘🐺

    Lovebites shows that there is nothing they can't do. A brilliant performance and Asami impressed me, no one can sing like Halford, but she did a terrific job and M&M were like you would think it was really Tipton and Downing playing. Haruna the big little beast on drums! Awesome!🤘🐺🥁🎸🎸🎸🎤🔥💥

    Thanks for your reaction. LOVEBITES has two original songs that I would put next to 'Painkiller' JUDAS PRIEST. These are 'Dystopia Symphony' and 'Soldier Stands Solitarily'. Unfortunately, there is no video of LOVEBITES being performed by 'Painkiller' in concert or in the studio.

    • @SomethingToDo360

      I agree with your two picks, and I think the direction she took her voice here with Painkiller, is kind of reminiscent of the direction she took with Dissonance, and fits well with the style of music. In my opinion, it is part of what makes Dissonance work so well; the special touch Asami adds to it. It feels like it goes with the song; like it doesn’t feel out of place. I think Dissonance and Judgement Day are both incredibly good songs, and would put all four of these songs (SSS, Dystopia, Dissonance, JD), in my top four for the band as a whole.

    • @GrayFox14
      @GrayFox14 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@SomethingToDo360 'Dystopia Symphony' is one of my favorite songs. As for the 'Judgement Day' Album, my favorite songs are: 'We are the Resurrection', 'Lost in the Garden', 'Wicked Witch' and 'Soldier Stands Solitarily'. 'Dissonance' is a great song!

    • @SomethingToDo360
      @SomethingToDo360 Před 6 měsíci

      @@GrayFox14 I’m thinking you would have to really like a song a lot, in order to pick one as a favorite that Mao had some involvement in, like We Are The Resurrection. I say this because my impression has been, that it would lose some points for just having his name there, or that you have some bias against him, and that it influences what you determine is good or not. I could be wrong, but that’s been my impression. Personally, I grade all the songs before seeing who wrote what, so it doesn’t influence me.

    • @GrayFox14
      @GrayFox14 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@SomethingToDo360 It doesn't matter to me who wrote the song. For me it is important whether I like this song or not. To date, 'We are the Resurrection' is my #1 favorite song on the 'Judgement Day' Album. The remaining three songs that I named are the result of the creativity of Asami (lyrics) and Miyako (music). Mao helped write 'We are the Resurrection'. Thanks to Mao for helping Midori and Asami write a good song.

    they do a great job, but honestly I feel Asami's range is a betteranalog for Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) than Rob Halford's. You can hear she is right on the edge here, and as Sam mentioned, is not as high as Rob. She has a bit huskier/lower range which is one of the few that could do Bruce's baritone justice though, IMO. I would kill to see them do Hallowed be thy Name or something similar.

      Rob Halford has an insane vocals. But, if you heard this rendition and had never heard Rob? Would you have had any complaints? Any complaints at all? BTW - Rob also goes lower in Painkiller.

    Saw there was a reaction to the Babymetal version dropped this morning, and I had to come watch this one first, as I haven't caught up to the latest reactions yet. My opinion? The Judas Priest version is like a prime rib eye steak prepared by Gordon Ramsey himself. The Lovebites version is the same steak, but prepared by Salt Bae. Prepared with a "flair" and some showmanship but not quite as exceptional as the Gordon Ramsey. 😊

    The metal “National Anthem”. Until not long before the ladies covered this I had never heard it…but so many people referenced the song when talking about LOVEBITES that I had to give it a listen. For me LOVEBITES are the best band in music history and of 56 original songs recorded there is absolutely no padding. No “album filler”. So it with the greatest of respect that I humbly accept that even the Goddesses haven’t (quite) matched Painkiller. It is THE quintessential metal song, and they proved that in another dimension, they would have written this song!

    I have to say that (as a Judas Priest fan from back in the 70's) Lovebites did an outstanding job with the instrumentation on this cover. Personally, I've never been a fan of the vocals for Lovebites, and it misses for me. I'm much more partial to Band-Maid/Babymetal/Nemophila for female vocal styles...but even Su-Metal can't compete with Rob Halfords vocals. That doesn't mean any of those ladies aren't talented, just not to my personal tastes when it comes to covering Judas Priest, but the hands down best instrumental cover I've heard.

    • @SomethingToDo360
      @SomethingToDo360 Před 6 měsíci +1

      Asami changes her voice here a bit for Painkiller, and I think it fits much better with the style of music, and she does this as well for Dissonance too, and it just seems to work. Considering Dissonance, the voice direction may be the way they take thrash metal in the future. I noticed a lot of people have issues with the vocals of Band-Maid too, but seemingly not as much for BabyMetal and Nemophila. Obviously though, the instrumental aspects of Lovebites are incredibly good, so it’s kind of nuts that they were able to pick up Fami as well; she’s an incredible bassist. I think the future looks bright for Lovebites.
