    I totally know what you mean when we don't want them but want them at the same time lol I am debating whether to get more when I already have enough watercolors. I love your swatches. Both pieces turned out really nice.

      I know, I want to get a new brand of tube paints because of the Cloverleaf Palette I have. Maybe Sennelier!

    I think In Liquid Color said that the white dots are fault of the paper (arches), not the paint. I can't remember in which video tho :/

    • @MirandaWatsonArt
      @MirandaWatsonArt  Před 4 lety +2

      Yes, I thought I remembered that, which is exactly why I tried paper from a different pad, so I believe you're right.

      @FaerieDust Před 4 lety +1

      It happens with other brands too - iirc it's an issue with the sizing, that it's degraded (either because of climate conditions or just over time).
      Edit: I went and checked, this was what I was remembering - Teoh made a video on it: czcams.com/video/hL6HZvHF1mY/video.html

    That palette is a steal of a deal considering the price on blick and others. Also I should hope they wouldn’t be chalky! They’re artist grade! I really like mijello’s crimson lake, it’s a permanent fixture in my palette, as is their sap green.

    I love this set! The colors are amazing! And what a cool swatch sheet, nice! That indigo in the book looks almost like Mars black doesn't it? Kind of gray blue.
    The dog looks like Yoda?? lol

      Lol, my 18-year-old son said something like, "Mom, I know it's a dog, but it kinda looks more like Yoda." Ha! I REALLY loved this set, I can't wait to do more with it. Thanks for watching today!

    Beautiful work as always. Both were very vibrant! I cannot decide which one I like better? This makes me want to get to swatching out my sets. I would use them more if I had then readily available...

    Thx for the review. I just got the single pigment set of 24 -15ml tubes ( really 26 with the I believe 8ml of white and black) for $61! Each tube that I can find is average $ 7 or so but depending on pigments ( which is for every professional brand). I grabbed it right away because I saw it on sale and I ended up waiting and the price then shot up agian to $130 and was mad at myself for not grabbing it so when I saw it go down agian I quickly purchased. Thanks for the video. Have a great day

    The white dots you were getting on the swatch sheet is called "pinholing" and it's pigment-specific. It's most common with blacks, so no wonder you noticed it on the indigo. I just got more DaVinci and sadly the phthalo turquoise was the only one that did that, and it did it really bad!!

    I enjoy swatching videos seeing how the various mediums react. Do you which sketchbook you used to compare the indigo? Great paintings.

      @MirandaWatsonArt  Před 2 lety

      If it was where I compared ALL the Indigo brands from the dot card, that was a Moleskine watercolor notebook, but I don't recommend it. The Etchr is worth the extra cost.

  • @pantalonious3984

    When doing swatch sheets like this, try setting the designated swatch space with clear water and dropping paint from a wet brush into the very top and letting it spread on its own, then you get a color swatch and flow test chart all in one. You can even drop some salt into it for a salt reaction test as well if you’d like, the. You can give a mass tone stripe if you please once that dries.

      @@MirandaWatsonArt my Mission Gold Pure Pigment tubes should be arriving today and I cannot WAIT to use them!! I’ve been using many different “student” grade (most of which aren’t very good at all) and recently I have been using Winsor&Newton Cotman tubes that I dried in pans. The cotman are definitely better than I had anticipated based off reviews I’ve seen but I had to go for the pure pigment set at such a good price where I got it. I paid HALF what most everyone else pays and couldn’t be happier!

      @@MirandaWatsonArt so far they are just lovely! They are SO pigmented I’m finding myself adjusting to just how much pigment comes up with no effort at all. I simply tickle the tip of my wet brush on the pan and it EXPLODES with color! I have yet to make a
      Muddy color even mixing 3-4 colors together. There is a mixing chart to tell you how to make common/useful color mixes from the pure pigments as well which is really neat. I am beyond impressed. I own both Winsor Newton Cotman amd Professional Daniel Smith (and lots of other brands and sets those are just most notable) and MMG are easily seen to be more pigmented as the same colors in Daniel Smith in my experience and the price is phenomenal on top of that. These 15ml tubes will last me a lifetime I have no doubt and I intend to share some with friends and acquaintances who enjoy watercolor as I do…. If your considering buying them just do it! I went for the 24 color plus black and white set so 26 colors total and there is also a 32 color plus black and white so 34 total set as well. Both are an amazing value especially when compared to price per tube at ANY vendor
