One of the best impressions I've ever seen and heard. Up there with Hopkins doing James Mason.
The ironic thing is since this Fiennes has had quite a bit of success with comedy, some of it honestly not a million miles away from Rossiter
He just needs Alan, Philip, and Ruth to make this sketch perfect.

Now that's not meant as an anti-semitic joke or a joke against those who the Nazis killed. I'm just combining (as Serafinowicz has here) the Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin with Schindler's List.
The joke works twice, because of course German trains would never run eleven minutes late.

I thought that but apparently this impression's based on Rising Damp era Leonard Rossiter, because the two look alike.
While I think PS is a fine mimic (the Let it Be recording sessions - priceless), I think he grossly caricaturized, here.
RF is, like, ten trillion times more subdued than that, to be sure.
I'll argue way, waaaaaay closer to Anthony Newley.
I heard it's part of the joke that he's actually doing Leondard Rossiter(?) because he and Fiennes are similar.
@@ElliotReports I can't really see it as a joke, though, if RF and LR sound and talk completely differently (to these ears, anyway). In terms of looks - well, maybe a LITTLE closer in similarity, but I'll stay convinced that some of the commenters here (not you, ER) "laughing" that the "joke" wasn't understood probably didn't get the joke, themselves, in the first palce.
@@milttrugood4817 I can't tell whether you get the joke or not. He's playing him as LR simply because PS thinks RF looks a little like him. That's literally the joke.

@@milttrugood4817 Why on earth would you expect him to try to sound like Fiennes when he was doing an impression of Rigsby/Rossiter - PURELY based on the similarity of their looks? It's a simple conceit yet a very funny one, yet you don't seem to value it. The fact that they spoke quite differently is the whole point!
That is the worst Ralph Fiennes impression ever doesn't look or sound like him.

@@RandomRoss it's an intentionally incorrect impression, it is part of the joke. His speech and mannerisms are a Leonard Rossiter impression.
