Pretending was actually a song Sophie felt was too literal so she chopped and slowed it down and turned it into a metaphysical moment. If you speed the song up you can actually hear lyrics "I was just pretending"

SOPHIE was such a beloved legend and definitely the most influential electronic artist of the last decade. She built the foundation of so many queer artists releasing music nowadays. The LGBT community truly lost a gem.

The title of the album is a reverse mondegreen, when you say “Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides” out loud, it sounds a bit like “I love every person's insides"

In case you missed it because most people don't know, but Cecile Believe is the main vocalist for the majority of this record while SOPHIE did all of the production and some of the harsher vocals plus Its Okay To Cry. Cecile worked very close with SOPHIE and has dropped two amazing projects and I really think you would love Plucking A Cherry From The Void or Made in Heaven, which are similar but have their own unique spin on them as well. I think you would be absolutely enchanted by those albums as well, especially with SOPHIE's limited discography

SOPHIE is such a powerful influence, so inspiring
it meant a lot to me as a trans artist and producer to see a trans woman be so beloved and respected in the electronic music scene, and her passing was such a shock to me and so many others
the world lost an icon that day, and honestly it still sometimes hits me out of nowhere some days
may she rest in power
it’s always great to see people listen to and discover this album; in between crying my eyes out at how good the production is, it was wonderful to hear someone listen to this album and get what it was trying to accomplish

While Is It Cold In The Water is a masterpiece in its own right, if you want that drop the song is building towards but never comes, you should check out the remix she did with Flume on his mixtape Hi This Is Flume. It has drums and stuff, and it's pretty cool.

SOPHIE is a true legend, one of the most influential artist of the past decade…so sad she is gone 😢
I see this whole album as her journey of accepting being a trans woman and the whole process, if you pay attention to he lyrics and the emotions of every song, it kinda tells a story 💙
