  • Viper performance Exhaust & Overlanding Upgrades, What did I do?
    In this episode we meet up with Cobus from Viper Performance Exhausts, and get a few, major improvements to the Ford Ranger 2.2 XL. 76mm stainless steel straight pipe and down pipes make for a welcome addition to the ol girl. 6 years old and she still has some power, and with an ECU upgrade from Marnus over at HM Auto, the Ranger is back up to performing like she should. Excited to drive is an understatement.
    Would you consider an ECU upgrade and performance exhasut?
    Feel free to add a comment, but please keep it classy.
    Thanks to Ed ‪@EdwardBath‬ and Sean Salmon for helping with a few of the shots to this episode. Much appreciated gents.

    Overlanding performance upgrades from Viper Performance Exhausts and HM Auto. Hope you enjoyed this one. Would you get the same upgrades to your off road vehicle?

      @4WheelingSA Před 2 lety +1

      Cool video! Will be interesting to do something similar at a stage. Will help with towing and will be interesting to see how it improves the offroad capabilities. Did you have to upgrade components due to the higher power output you have?

    • @4x4ventures_southafrica
      @4x4ventures_southafrica  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Henk, yes, it is definitely worth the costs, and a welcome improvement to the overall setup, without a doubt mate. I didn't have to do any further upgrades, but have been advised to upgrade the intercooler, and the air filter (K&N, or similar) to help with higher temperatures in the engine. However, as a stage 1 upgrade, this is a safe upgrade. Hope this helps mate 👍

      @@4x4ventures_southafrica Thanks Ryan. Yes, my only question for my own vehicle will be the clutch. FYI - what happens with the remap is that you increase the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT), so your engine runs hotter which you don't want, with the new exhaust you take away the hot gasses quicker. The way you have done it is the correct way, first the pipe and then the re-map. For the cooler and filter is that you can now feed more air into your engine. For this you need the improved air filter that allows more air in. Then all that air needs to be cooled (cooler air = more air "particles). Therefore the suggestion for a bigger intercooler.

    Jokes aside. After my Fortuner was mapped by someone I wasnt happy with it. HM Auto (Marnus) did both my Hilux and Fortuner. As happy as can be with both off them. Viper is as good as it gets if not better. Enjoy the power and the sound. Makes you fall inlove all over with your car again.

    Great video. Now I need a viper exhaust. Haha.
    Interesting that they installed the 76mm pipe, on the Ford groups people say that you should only install the 63mm on the 2.2. What's your thoughts on that?

    • @4x4ventures_southafrica
      @4x4ventures_southafrica  Před 2 lety +1

      🤣🤣🤣 job done then. No but serious, my thoughts are that the original pipe is 63mm, I thought a 73mm pipe was the very top of what the 2.2 could go. To be very honest, I haven't thought much about the 76mm size at all. It would make sense to get hotter particulates and gas out faster. I think the compressions come from the downpipes with faster expulsions from the larger diameter. But, by no means do I know. As I do, I take it under advisement from the people in the know, and if they say all good, then I hope its all good 🤣 if it goes boom, then I am in the dwang BIG time, and I have an episode. Fingers crossed mate. Now go get yourself a Viper Performance exhaust 🤙
