Lyrics
To the highest degree, in quality!
In our rap technology ladies and gentlemen I am the rapper Ecstasy!
And standing to my side, this is my partner, the master rapper Jalil
Behind us on the 1 and 2, Grandmaster Dee, do-do-doin' the do
And it goes a little something like this
It's true my friends who said they saw
My poster hanging up on the wall
The pictures clear there's no mistake
My video plays in every state
Well I didn't do a thing, I ain't got no kids
And they labeled me a fugitive
I ain't got no time to spend locked up
Cause I'm ridin' high on lady luck
Things could be better, I know they could
But you gotta take the bad along with the good
I'm one of many on a list
And I want you to acknowledge this
Well, things got heavy and that's a fact
So I've pulled a disappearing act
So, until things simmer down
I'm gonna do my thing underground
Presto, zesto, alakazam!
Never mind where I was, this is where I am
And right here and now before your very eyes
I will definitely do what others dared to try
Let me break it down for you and stop all confusion
The microphone's the only thing I'll be using
Now the names Whodini but I'm no magician
See I came to this party 'cause I'm on a mission
I've been meaning to talk to you face to face
'Cause if it wasn't for you I wouldn't be in the place
When it comes to making money I don't waste time
My brother I said please I'll be in front of the line
'Cause I was taught the early bird always catches the worm
And a lesson well taught is a lesson well learned
That's why I'm on the move and everything's alright
And the clothes I need to wear were prepared last night
'Cause if I let you get ahead of me, you'll know you instead of me
When opportunity knocks, I've gotta be ready see?
He who hesitates is lost and the price that you pay is called the cost
When they said money maker, they must have meant me
To make money and time you need a M and a E
'Cause time is money and money is time
You might waste yours, but I'm rocking mine
So rock on!
Look here!
When your money takes over like Grover, you ain't worth your weight in gold
All you need to getcha through is a good ol' fashion roll
Just like Batman's on his way in the nick of time to save the day
These people are wishing upon a star and guys like us driving in big cars
So we pledge allegiance to the rhyme
To rhyme to every beat on time
And to our public to which we love
To show everybody what there really was
So united we stand, divided we fall
We're not the first but were still here y'all!
We're your best bet 'cause you can't get
A better show for your TV set
'Cause we're the ones who rock at your request
We're the ones to call if you want the best
The ones that'll zap you with the super blast
With jams from the present and hits from the past
Hey, you never know what we're gonna do next
So don't waste your time, don't try to guess
'Cause we're the one and only masters of the ceremony
Guaranteed to rock the house, definitely not a phony!
Now, those days are gone and I'm on the move
'Cause I ain't got nothing to prove
I've got a summons a day, for a year or less
They even got a warrant out for my arrest
'Cause I'm a fugitive and I'm on the run
And my line of work? that's number one
My best friend in the world is not a dog, boy or girl
My only friend in this world I know is my portable TV radio
So when we get up, out and on the go, we always travel in stereo
Because after I've put a town to use
I look back and see who's got the juice?
And when things finally simmer down
They won't have me to kick around! - Hudba
To this day when I hear someone say Things could be better; I literally think about Ecstasy's line "Things could be better, I know they could; but ya got to take the bad along with the good." RIP John Fletcher.
Yes
Dam, I was 14 in 1986, and this song is still 🔥!!
I remember in middle school this song literally taught me how to be a go getter, to be prepared, to be ready for opportunities. This song wasn’t just a song - it was wisdom.
Most of their songs are.
R.I.P. John "Ecstasy"Fletcher...Thanks for the memories!!
Whodini definitely brought The MAJIC!!
Met Ecstasy in Lake Charles Louisiana concert. Very down to earth . Believe in or not this man took out time to listen to me talk about The Lords goodness🙏 He had just performed and I’m sure he was tired but he took out time just to let me minister to him about The Lord. Now he’s With The Lord R.I.P Humble soul.
I agree he was and is a humble person him n jalil and grandmaster Dee I got love for those cats whodini forever.
High school days. My favorite rap duo. R.I.P. John Fletcher.

Rap & Rock Combination Back In The Days Was A Thing 💯
R.I.P. Ecstasy. 😢
If I was a fugitive I would want this to play
RIP ECSTASY YOU WERE ONE OF THE BEST TO EVER DO IT! AND THIS IS STILL FUNKY.
To me this was straight gangster music
Used to blast this in my ride on my Alpine system back at FAMU
Pioneer speakers and radio for me!!
There's Only But One ... Whodini was the Greatest Rap Crew of the History in the Rap Industry, no other could create original lyrics or beats like Whodini; No sampling, no ripping any others sounds of any kind ---pure musical geniuses, and powerful creative imaginations without a doubt or contradiction!!! NOTE: All Others were just honorable mentions ....... Guaranteed!!!
This song is one of the most complete hip hop songs ever. The music is awesome and guitar is far more superior than walk this way or any other rock riff in hip hop.
Agreed
Guitar is the best part of the song
💯
I had their poster 😊
This particular track is dope baby
Another true classic. Way before it's time Another true art form gone. Considering most of trash music today. Big UP Nashville
Rip ex gone but never forgotten 💔 😪
This was my favorite song off Back In Black 🎤🎤🎤🎤
Mine too!!!! 💃🏽
Yeah I played the shit out of this song.
This song was and still is a beast!
I heard this on the radio back in the 80s when I was in grammar school and I was hooked ever since. Playing it right now.
ditto
Those guitar riffs...OMG...I've still got the back n black album..💯💥🔥
Me TOO....the vinyl-album fa'SHO.
Yes sir and with the revival of the vinyk/TT revolution I will be rocking this album this week.
George Young(?) on guitar
@@MAD_1979 Sure is. Lives round the corner from me
Whodini was slept on in general. They were ALL THAT and Ecstasy’s voice was premiere!!!
Why is it when u hear a old school rap song some folks say they were slept on or underrated or some other dumb comment at the time of the album they were at the top of their game . just because some young folks maybe wasn't around at the time doesn't mean they were slept on thats just plain stupid
@@anthonytaylor7928 131
@@anthonytaylor7928 because they would slept on they wasn't they wasn't given the credit they deserve even when they was alive they had to present themselves to become known for what they did no one paid attention to Houdini you actually if you used to ask a young person or ask a person who listen to old school music who do is who Danny the first thing they say I never heard of them before I've had people grown say I haven't heard them before so when you ask this question this is irrelevant because they're all a lot of people who don't even know who they is that listen to Hip Hop they don't even show them when they posting them on social media it took a lot of fans to stress out about who who their favorite Entertainer rap group was for the peoples to say oh okay yeah we going to put them on the post I see a lot of rappers called greater rappers of old times who wasn't even there in the old times so why you asking an irrelevant question about why do people say they were slapped on pay attention they was not even notice that when they finally got their representation and they start doing tributes for them it was after they said oh who didn't shut off oh they wasted this money they did this and that it took them to say negative stuff that wasn't irrelevant so people to say oh who who is this group and then when they heard they music oh yeah my grandfather my uncle used to listen to that but it's a lot of groups out there like Houdini didn't get the airplane until they lost the number or two yeah I'll message Jay he was when he he was in really put out there until after he was killed they still don't recognize Grandma's Dee he had to go to different places to represent other DJs for him to get notice of who he is they have to play videos of this group Houdini for them to get recognized so when you when you make a point about people asking saying if they were slept on that's irrelevant because you can't judge what other people say because you don't know where they're going cuz you never been there that's just like if you made a music hit and your stuff don't get recognized right away but you hear people something in your Beats or using your music they ask who is this person how this person how is this this person beat when I heard somebody else using it so you got to be put in their shoes to know why they will slap on they even said people slept on those people say we weren't as great as we would the money they should have been earning they should have been making more money for the music they made ice cube sample they beat a lot of rappers sample they beat it's still simple in that beats to this day you can't tell cuz you you don't recognize the beats but what they did instead of them saying okay they we not recognized let me go to school listen to the new school people and they start showing love to the new school people and when the new school people see who they was oh I know this person I used my ancestors used to listen to this this is a smooth beat you know so they have been slapped on you you seen Run DMC and everything you've seen Houdini made recent songs that run them see them didn't make after that and the songs that Houdini made it didn't really get the love and the respect that it deserved because people were so into that killing a hip hop hardcore stuff but they wouldn't listen to positive music someone who did his music was some positive but the rest of their music was positive so when you ask a relative question like that I'm an answer positive answer they have not been recognized correctly it took after ecstasy was was killed or how he died however they still don't know how he just up and died either way it goes he's gone you hear new people saying oh rest in peace that's to see at least to listen to your music all the time come on you one of them you didn't really pay attention to Houdini until they die
@@sammjackson70 Good Lawd! Reading all this is homework, sir! Both of you are right; but Sam is more right. Whodini's legacy is underappreciated. Probably the best the group of the 80s
Fa sho Ms. Lady, they were at that time and album definitely the best rap group !🎤🎙🎵🎼💽
HAD TO HEAR THIS SONG !!! THIS SONG IS SO GOOD .. I REMEMBERED IT TO THIS DAY !!! ... EVERY WORD IS TRUE !!!

George Young early producer of AC/DC with the amazing guitar riffs, super underrated track!
I had no idea that AC/DC had their fingerprints on this song.
The riffs are the reason I loved this song when I first bought the cassette in 86'
George Young was a 21 year old session guitarist in London-not the brother to Angus etc-he also played the solo on rock you again (open sesame
One of the best rap groups ever
Im a 49 year old white guy ! I still Love this song . It has a lot of stright facts . But not to be put in a rude way. The last line is it 😆

This is my favorite jam back in the 80"s l have played in my Camaro on the pioneer speakers TS6905 .
Pioneer systems were the best back in the day!
As for me and my Pioneer system back in the day this was truly my favorite Whodini song they ever made. I played this over and over again! I had no idea that AC/DC helped produce it, you can hear the flavor. Damn it saddens me that Ecstasy passed away. Thank you for the memories. Rest in power!!

The Back in Black album had three number one hit songs back in 1986❤❤
Rest in Peace Larry Smith & John Fletcher. Your music shaped a lot of people's lives in a positive way , always sent a message something we need more of nowadays.

Ain't no good party without Whodini!!
Plz take me back to 1986 summer God
Whodini had a string of hits in the 80s but this was my favorite over-all.
This song was one of the all-time classics from Whodini R.IP John Fletcher.
Live instrumentation, one of the first. Dope! 🔥 forever!
This rocks even when Whodini rocks with the best beats and 'funky' beats!!
They were cold
Bass is DOPE On Good System!
I always like this song back in the day! Reminded a little of Run DMC's " Rock Box"! Old school was always about being Creative!
This my favorite jam .
Whodini will always be tight in my book ❤
❤❤
This was probably the first cassette I ever bought as I started moving away from vinyl albums and singles. But my dad's car still had an 8-track deck in it. I found an adapter that let you play a cassette through an 8 track system. My music was mobile for the first time and this was the track that I blasted the loudest as I was rolling the streets.
Rock on!!!!!!
“Never know what I’m going to do next, so don’t waste your time don’t try to guess”
"Cause we're the one and only masters of the ceremony. Guaranteed to rock the house! Definitely not a phony!!"
one of the best hip hop lps of all time jmc from manny uk
Whodini Legends!!!
A masterpiece ❤️😁
Marcou minha adolescência nos anos de 1.987......1.988......
And you talk about the greatest but leave these brothers out just saying !!!! Love you Ecstacy!!!!!!
At :01 thats where public enemy got that from on "don't believe the hype" ..its on the hook 2 there song. I cant help it i hear things that probably don't even matter 2 the average listeners. Lol
Nah it all matters and it's all cool. I listened to both songs enough to notice it back then. I think it's even cooler to notice how Chuck ALWAYS mentions that Whodini were his mentors and he learned a lot of his voice inflections AND stage presence from Whodini, specifically Ecstacy.
Oh I have the same thing going over here you're not alone
Listening to this song gives me goosebumps!! I rocked the hell out of this and Echo Scratch back in the day..
@@frankjum yeah you’re right about Chuck always gives props to Whodini. There is a dvd where Ecstasy talks about wanting to give PE more time when they were on tour together. He saw the greatness in them during that time. RIH ECSTASY. I lost a bit of my teenage years with his death.
I love this song and group rip Ecstasy
Tempo bom que não volta mais.......
RIP Ecstacy
Man this takes me back...

It's beautiful...
They "whouahouaa" at the beginning has-been used by so many producers and artists.
We played the shit out of this joint on St Clair Cleveland Ohio .. united we stand divided we fall
Kick ass current rapers
R.I.P. Ecstacy
This is my first time hearing this. Now I know where that sample for Don't Believe The Hype comes from
when I hear this, i want to play GTA Vice City again ♥♥
🔥🔥🔥
RIP ECSTASY
Twisting lyrics and hard hitting beats since 1985 the golden years of the chemical city built to lace your cerebellum to hold the golden substance preserve it if you will I still got a great memory in spite of dabbling in the juice it was a long time ago but good to revisit of course keep the jams flowing with elasticity
I put love above the comment.
