    What did you do to clear the RLU error that I know he experienced after the install. The "Reserve Lighting Unit" measures the resistance a normal H4 halogen bulb puts off and knowing that all of these led fixtures don't have near the resistance the RLU gets a false reading that the low beam has burned out and turns the error light on in the dash as well as trying to turn on the high beams. Seems in some countries back in the 1980s required this safety feature on bikes to ensure that the headlight would still be on in the event of a low beam filament failure. Most folks just bypass the RLU or add resistors inline with the new headlight.

    *Thanks for this inside look at a retrofit.* Harley-Davidson factory-installs the J. W. Speaker 8700 in 2014-up FLH Touring models (viz., the FLHTCU, FLHTK, FLHX, and FLHR); I anticipate that a Truck-Lite six-diode model with two twist-lock flasher provisions will be used for the fleet-only FLHP and FLHTP (the smaller FLTR, and likely FLTP, headlights, installed in pairs on a frame-mount fairing, are subcontracted to Truck-Lite for 2016-up).

    Random question, but is there a backplate or something for the back of the light since that backplate can get hot, isn't that bad for the wiring harness and housing in general?

    I NEED HELP! I just bought a LED Headlamp for my 2001 Kawasaki Vulcan size 5.75 inches and the stock bracket does not fit the LED headlamp. I have been looking for a ring or something that would fit around the LED headlamp and screw into the stock outer ring. Can you suggest something for me please?

    • @SIRENNET
      @SIRENNET  Před 7 lety

      We can't say for certain. If the HL bezel is what actually holds in the 7" round stock headlight, then an add-on bezel shouldn't be necessary.

    I have a 2001 suzuki bandit that seems to have a (female) 6 pin connector. This lamp seems to have three large pins. Is there some sort of adapter I can buy to connect the two? Does anyone know?

    • @SIRENNET
      @SIRENNET  Před 7 lety

      Hi Daniel. Unfortunately we haven't been able to locate any 6 to 3 pin conversion harnesses. If you haven't already, we'd recommend taking a look at a Bandit forum to see if anyone has a solution they've found or even perhaps made custom for a conversion.

    • @SIRENNET
      @SIRENNET  Před 6 lety

      We grabbed a new H4 connector for inside the housing and just matched the wires up as appropriate for the ground and leads for lo & hi. With just three wires, it's very straight forward if you're doing this change-over.
