Regional // Regional 2024 Gathering

Regional // Regional is a 3-year program that promotes collaboration between esteemed regional and remote festivals and organisations across Australia, Asia and the Pacific.
Festival directors and members of the Regional // Regional alliance gathered in Tasmania Lutruwita to develop collaborations and co-productions for their regional audiences and communities.
The program activates international engagement and participants benefit from ongoing knowledge exchanges whilst building long-term relationships and developing new exchanges, research, collaborations and co-productions for their regional audiences and communities. 
Participants came together from across regional Australia, Indonesia, India, Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, Cambodia and Vanuatu.
Starting off with an On Country program led by Nayri Niara, building connection to Country and local context to ground participants.
Artist practice-led provocations, alongside intimate and public conversations encouraged participants to think deeply and share their insights on the responsibilities of festivals within communities and contexts.
The program deepened relationships, supported knowledge sharing and provided foundations for future collaborations between regional Australia, and festivals and cultural organisations from across Asia and the Pacific. .
