    After watching RE the final chapter, all I can say is that, the live action movies should be renamed: Resident Evil: The Clone Wars Saga.

    • @jakegeddes5480
      @jakegeddes5480 Před 7 lety +6

      zZiL341yRj736 why? Is the game series and canon cgi movie series not enough? Whats the point in making another live action resi movie series that likely wont appeal to the fans because the story will inevitably be abridged which wouldn't be what people want, and it wont appeal to casual movie goers because the last 6 resident evil movies they saw were terrible. So maybe resident evil (and all other game franchises) are better off staying away from movie adaptations all together.

    • @cattyfish_7759
      @cattyfish_7759 Před 7 lety +2

      Jake Geddes: I would like a Re live action movie that doesn't have a Mary Sue as the main character and just uses the characters name from the games. I would actually like one where they did more than ask a group of people if they got any smokes on them.

    • @jakegeddes5480
      @jakegeddes5480 Před 7 lety +5

      Or maybe, JUST maybe take the elements from the game such as the haunt mansion, characters, monsters, and horror tone, then make a unique terrifying story around them? Change the story abit, but make it maintain the spirit of Resident Evil. That how JJ Abram's Star Trek worked, Harry Potter worked, Marvel films worked, Edge of Tomorrow worked. They all took elements from their sources respectfully and made a different, yet well told stories. And saying casual won't see this? Then make a GOOD trailer and advertise it everywhere. It's not rocket science. Show people a trailer similar to the first Resident Evil Remake trailer on Gamecube, or the HD one. People will be interested.

  • @Ravenite456

    Basically the movies are the cliffnotes version of the games built around an overpowered Mary Sue.

  • @Dash4rd
    @Dash4rd Před 9 lety +55

    From what you said, it would seem like the games are what happens after the virus was successfully stopped in Raccoon City, while the movies take place in a timeline where they failed to stop the virus there. Which would help explain some of the smaller differences, such as characters being a bit different in the movies. Alice however...I don't know, magic?

    • @NutnRoll
      @NutnRoll Před 9 lety

      Dash4rd good point, there is no way Leon could work for the president if there wasn't one. At least he works for Wesker, who is the president in the movie. -..-

    • @carlosmspk
      @carlosmspk Před 9 lety +1

      ***** I had to re-read your previous comment to understand it (slow brain). But I'd say the only explanation is chance, because of the initial virus outbreak, which was successfully contained in the games but not the movies. The super hero is a big help, but not enough for the huge numbers of zombies out there.

    • @carlosmspk
      @carlosmspk Před 9 lety

      ***** very likely the case, but that's actually a good thing, even though the movies ended up cheesy as sequels came out anyway.

    • @BurnTilDeath
      @BurnTilDeath Před 8 lety +3

      The way I see it, perhaps Alice's existence prevents all the heroes in the games from developing into the badasses they are in the games, so they're unable to prevent the zombie apocalypse in the movie-verse. In other words, her existence pretty much destroys the RE universe, hahaha.

    The only thing I don't like about the movies is Alice's mental power. Since Resident Evil has always been a franchise about science, it should remains that way. I mean in the first movie it's all about science and science, but later it became more like a supernatural thing, and Alice becomes too over-power. Yes, it's fine to twist the plot from the canon games, but the psychic power is just too much, even people who are not gamers can see this is kindda odd.

      I hate these movies not only because they are stupid, but also BECAUSE I am a true RE fan and how much they shit on the games. The games ARE the true Resident Evil. So yes, I am a true RE fan.

    He says that Nemesis doesn't have as rich of a background as he does in the games, and while this is true, he made no mention to the fact that Nemesis is actually a mutated Matt Addison from the first film who was infected by the evolved Licker at the end of the first film and then further experimented on, mainly to kill S.T.A.R.S members, but also to kill Alice as a secondary objective.

    This is how I see it, The movie and the Games are two different timelines, The movies are the result of the failure of sterilizing the Racoon city disaster, The games is the success, and each tell the stories of what happens if the nuclear strike worked or not, Despite who launched the nuclear warhead. Now the characters and their stories in the each was what the writers had made up.

    Actually Claire's Terrasave role was introduced after the third movie, so this Claire was even more drastically different to the Claire that back in 2007 we had last seen in Resident Evil: Code Veronica. 1-2 years later the first CGI movie, Resident Evil Degeneration, was released and introduced the older, more experienced Claire Redfield you're thinking off.

    • @Robinem
      @Robinem Před 7 lety +1

      Zokix11 MC not what I meant, was referring to at the time the 3rd movie came out where she had only appeared in 3 games the last being a arcade spinoff of Code Veronica. Revelations 2 was not out until years later by which point the character's Terrasave career had been established outside the games in the Capcom made Canon CGI movie. Outside spinoffs retellings Resident Evil 2 and Code Veronica she had not appeared in a all new game since Code Veronica

    You got the thing about Nemesis wrong. In the movies, Nemesis mutated from the guy who survived with Alice in the first one. That's why he refused to kill her in the end of Apocalypse, because he remembered her.
    And Barry DID work for Wesker prior to the first game.

  • @LaBerengenaAtomica

    There are 2 simple rules when it comes to game-based movies:
    1. Don't have any expectations (in terms of similarities).
    2. If the movie is directed by Uwe Boll, don't even bother watching it.
    I actually liked the movies. Granted they were no blockbusters but they were watchable and somewhat enjoyable. Games will always be superior though. They are canon after all.

      @ZeroFighter Před 6 lety +1

      Jill was almost killed off in the third movie. The approved 'final' draft of the script had Jill leading the caravan instead of Claire, and would have been killed and eaten by Zombie Carlos. The only reason this never happened was because of scheduling conflicts. The actress playing Jill was filming Eragon at the time and couldn't reprise her role. So they instead wrote Jill out and inserted Claire who they needed alive to replace Sheva so they wouldn't have to introduce a one-off canon character in the middle of introducing all of their one-off original characters in the next movie.

    I mean you do know they explained the lickers and the nemisis in the movie right? The lickers are the byproducts of injecting the T Virus into living tissue (as in stuff you cultivate for i.e. skin graphs) Creating a mutation. Although it is not said how they reproduce. When a human was first infected with the mutation. They turned into the Nemisis (tyrant). I feel as if you never truly where paying attention to the first movie nor the second. Because they explain that in the film. Also the beta/meta powers was also explained as the T virus bonding with Alice on a symbiotic level. increasing the power of which her brain functions. I'm a die hard fan of both movies and the games. There is alot of differences. Granted yes, but in order to acknowledge those differences. You have to actually be paying attention to everything.

    Im not sure if a lot of people are aware that the first 3 RE movies had book counterparts which are much more detailed than the movies. The books explain how she got her "powers" and explained her backstory. In the books she was already a very skilled soldier and the T-virus just enhanced her natural skills, the virus did not give her instant knowlegde and skill in fighting she was already extremely good with hand-to-hand combat and using weapons. Thats how she came to work for the Umbrella corp since they only employ the "best of the best" as per the books and movie, not related to the game story :)

    Nemesis was a professional boxer before Umbrella took him. His family was murdered too. Most likely Umbrella did that of course. There's a origin story about him in a old comic from the 90s.

Next they do talk about the mutations. the lickers were people directly injected with the t virus and that the zombies are from the airborne version. Finally the plagas transformation in res 5 Irving transforms nearly instantly when he injects himself. So there ya go. The movies are still trash but you gotta check your shit man oh and bonus the virus wasn't meant only to be a weapon. The progenitor virus was designed and played with so they can find a way to eternal life without any horrible side effects. The movies have very few fans. Even those that didn't play the games think the movies blow. But money talks, the films tend to do well mainly because people will watch anything with explosions, zombies, and a hot chick. Regardless of the story being good, regardless of good or bad acting.
    This played a role in Capcom making Resident Evil games more action focused. To gain those action junkies. Which in turn hurt the core fan base, that was into the traditional style of RE games.
    As for the movies themselves. They would have been better if they stayed away trying to throw in game characters. But they put some in, screwed it up, so to fix it through more in and had them all dress obvious....but it ended up being worst and insulting to those characters and the game itself.
    The movies are decent no plot, poor writting, mediocre acting, lots of action films with Zombies.

  • @chloegracecampbell9708

    The movie version of Nemesis clearly details his origin. *Matt* got infected as they escaped the Hive, and he started to mutate which is why they put him into the Nemesis Program. This is all explained at the end of the first movie, and through flashbacks in the second...

    The origins of Nemisis in the movie: at the end of the first res evil, the only man who survived (the man who was scratched by the Licker) was taken away by these Umbrella scientists and while the movie blanked out, you hear the scientist say "he's transforming" and to "put him into the Nemisis program". At the start of the fight between the Nemisis and Alice on the rooftop of the building in the second res evil, Alice recognized Nemisis when the bad guy formally "introduced" the Nemisis to her.

In the end of the first Resident Evil movie Max get's infected and in the end they say "Were placing him in the Nemisis Program" They even show the flashback while she's fighting nemesis -_- So in reality what you said was backwards because the movie shows more depth in his creation than the game because the game just plants him there and NEVERRR mentions him unless u read the files where as in the Movie they let u know that he was Max.

      Sorry, Zero. There was no character "Max", there was "Matt", and he wasn't Alice's ex-husband. Her relationship to him was that Alice was Matt's sister's contact within Umbrella who was going to get her proof of Umbrella's wrongdoing. Matt was just one of the people brought into the Hive by the team. The husband character is Spence, the first guy to get killed by the Licker.
      As for the information about Nemesis in the games: residentevil.wikia.com/wiki/Nemesis-T_Type
      There is a /lot/ more info. We know where and how Nemesis was developed. We know it's a combination of the T-virus with some kind of parasite and Lisa Trevor. Her bizarre DNA, which had created the prototype for the G-virus, bonded with the NE-alpha and produced a viable, though horribly traumatized, Nemesis. Umbrella Europe then took that data and created the Nemesis using T-103s (the Tyrant called Mr. X).
      All that from the games.

    • @zeroblack5796
      @zeroblack5796 Před 7 lety +6

      like I CLEARLY STATED. ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL of that Information is in th FILES ONLY. I literally just played through Resident Evil 3 with my younger cousin so he can see the Nemisis for the first time in game and they do not speak of his creation NOT ONE TIME. Sooo for a child which I was when the game was originally released. THERE WAS NOOOOOOO INFO given about him during the story. literally 0% Not one cut scene not one mention NOT ANYTHING. They only spoke of his creation in this files and 80% of children are not going to sit there and read all of that info.
      Now as far as "Matt" is concerned THEY CLEEEEEEEEEEEARLY implied that he was the Nemisis REGARDLESS OF WHAT HIS NAME WAS, AND REGARDLESS OF HIS MARITAL STATUS. Because at the time Alice truly did believe he was her husband therefor in her mind HE WAS HER HUSBAND PERIOD. If someone truly believes something even through brain washing you do not have the ability nor the do you have a method to use that will make that person believe otherwise. THEREFOR IN A PURE VISUAL SENSE AND BY WAY OF STORY TELLING, THE MOVIE "TELLS YOU"

    I believe they did explain nemesis origin in the films. It wasn't the same origin as the games, but at the end of the first film, after getting slashed by the licker, Matt was beginning to mutate. If you look carefully you can see weird small tentacle like things appearing behind his head before Umberella burst in and take him away.... In the second movie there is a reference to him, Alice says his name when looking at Nemesis at some point during the fight, as if realising who he was.... Then he remembers and turns on Umberella.
    It has been a while since I have seen the films. Could someone confirm this?
