    Thank you a lot for the lessons, finally, the preposition topic became clear to me. May I ask a question? In English, we have verb + preposition (listen TO, arrive AT) and prepositional phrases (in the morning, after lunch). Now, when I analyze the sentence I get confused, I can't differentiate if a certain element is a verb+ preposition OR a prepositional phrase. Here is the sentence - Here do we have a prepositional phrase or we have listen+to, arrived + at. Could you please explain what is what?

    • @EnglishUnits
      @EnglishUnits  Před 9 měsíci +1

      This might help: If it's NOT beside a verb, then it's just a prepositional phrase (and no need to worry about prepositional verbs).
      If it IS beside a verb, check whether it's a prepositional verb. A prepositional verb is a verb + preposition that work together like a PAIR. A verb followed by a prepositional phrase doesn't pair with the preposition after it; they're just located beside each other. Examples:
      - We talked in class.
      - We talked to our friends.
      Look at the verb + preposition in each ("talked in" and "talked to"). Can you see which is more like a PAIR of words that partner together versus two words that are just located beside each other? The one like a pair is the prepositional verb.

      Hello, for the GMAT, I recommend focusing your studies on specific grammar points covered on that test--and don't worry with others . Here's a list from a person who seems very informed:
      www.reddit.com/r/GMAT/comments/ni27hr/all_the_grammar_rules_that_matter_for_sentence/
      If possible, I'd recommend getting a GMAT test prep guide by GMAC, the company that creates and manages the GMAT. Here's a link of a good one. Click the "Look Inside" link (upper left), to see the content. This book reviews the grammar topics you need (though maybe not as deeply as you need) in chapters 6.5 and 9.0:
      www.amazon.com/GMAT-Official-Guide-2022-Question/dp/1119793769/ref=sr_1_9?crid=IEV4U6W2YSOU&keywords=gmat+prep+grammar&qid=1660486936&sprefix=gmat+prep+grammar%2Caps%2C90&sr=8-9
      This website gives similar details as the links above - and offers lessons on CZcams:
