  • BAC in Kansas City has become one of the leading makers of custom trombones. Best known for their restoration, custom rebuilds and their in-house built small bore tenor trombones the Paseo line is their hand-crafted "production" line, in this case the W6 model based off of the classic Williams 6. While we have had a few BAC's in the shop before we haven't had a chance to spend time with this particular model before; it was a lot of fun an we wanted to make sure to share the experience! Take a listen and let us know what you think!

I've admired BAC trombones. They're super beautiful instruments! Thanks Keith!

Its amazing how the carbon fibre slide affects the tone. I could tell it was carbon fibre when I heard it before I even looked at the trombone in the video. I thought it sounded great but the carbon fibre sound is definitely distinctive.

I certainly agree on the carbon fiber sound; depending on the setup it can be minimized but it is absolutely there!

Nice to see that you are back! As always you have done an excellent job with the performance and explanation. How does it compare to the industry jazz standard King 3b?
In addition, when player normally play a large bore horn with a 5G Bach for classic/symphonic play and need to switch to a small bore horn for musicals and a jazz setting, What mouth pieces do you recommend? I seem to get the best response with the 10c Christian Lindberg due to the rim shape and dimentions . The Bach 12 and Dennis Wick 10 does not do the job and creates "chop" problems. They seem to work if I am full throttle but that kills you chops on long gig.
    Thanks

Could you do a review of the Kühnl & Hoyer Bart Van Lier series?

I would love to! I haven't been able to put hands on the Van Lier but when I do I will absolutely grab a video with it!

This trombone is a .500"s bore or dual bore (.500/.508)?
