Love your videos and fine you very relatable. Like yourself, I am Malaysian living in America and find myself missing my home country and family but at the same time they think I’m quite American. I like to think I’m just a blend now. Also, growing up I always feel quite different from others and want to just fit in. Now I embrace my own self and love just being me. As a sociable introvert, it wasn’t the easiest growing up before understanding who you are. Anddd totally adore your luxury minimalism concept.
Dear Eileen, thank you for the video. Isn't it rather marvelous how people will change and grow? None of us will be quite the same in ten years I daresay, and that's just fine. I raise my glass (teacup really) to a wonderful journey for you and all your followers . With love, Carolina
I have just recently discovered your channel and really enjoy your philosophy in life and especially today’s theme of feeling like you don’t belong. I think I know your feeling. I probably had this feeling all my life and was finally diagnosed as an »introverted » person. Short version is preferring my quiet time which now consists of reading, daily walks as compared to an extroverted person who usually are the life of the party. I am married to an extrovert and I guess we complement each other in more ways than one but we have to « pour water in our wine » on occasions. I really enjoy your minimisum philosophy to a certain degree. I am now retired from my job and miss my previous «corporate » wardrobe of corporate pieces; although our staff consisted of 70% female and 30% male, I was one of just a few who would wear dresses or suits; this was easier for me to find clothes in my petite sizes compared to finding slacks for my 5´ height. I really enjoy your fashion styling and the only way I defer from you is my handbag wardrobe; I have way less than you-and I only change them when summer turns to autumn. But I make up for it through my jewelry collection which includes lots of bracelets, earrings, chains, rings which I mix together in white gold and yellow gold and diamonds. I have now subscribed to your channel and look forward for future episodes.
Your comment “enjoying nice things without compromising your financial security” can really resonated with many people. I believe your content is genuine. Thanks for your videos
So relatable Eileen. I too am one that doesn’t fit in. However, I’m learning that my heart and soul are more free than I realize. It’s my mind that wars the most against this wall of being unwanted by others. But I am at the phase of letting the wall stay. Why? Because it’s my filter and is the tool that has helped me become who I am today. 😊 My current phase is allowing the storm in of not being wanted. Like Elsa from Frozen, making peace with myself and saying to myself “this is where I stand and where’ll I’ll stay”. I’m finding true Freedom is embracing the values I love and living in them despite the accusations. At the end of the day I find my heart and soul is home for me. ❤
I enjoyed the video! I am also a introvert and you have explained how l have felt most of my life. I now accept that l am a introvert and l love my alone time, reading and walking this is where l find and keep my peace and joy. Thank for sharing your story/experience.☺️
I agree, we should not worry, in fact we should never try to fit in... just be our individual selves. I believe this is the reason I get bored with people. I'm VERY unique & different and I Love it. I often find myself routing for the underdog (so to speak) in many situations - I don't like for anyone to feel misplaced or uncomfortable. I enjoy helping people and I've never meet a stranger. With that said, I will Not hesitate to turn left & have no problem reclaiming my space, which I LOVE, if need be. Social media is wonderful, it has allowed me to have the best of many things when where and as often as *"I"* choose without having to explain why or why nor. Wonderful video Eileen. 💛✨️
be happy. I believe that you will find your people. if you need it. or your silence, if you need it at that moment. yes, it's so interesting, people think that something is wrong with them if they are different from the crowd and start wanting to change themselves. but just need to remember that each person is unique and special. Thank you for your support, unique person!
I love watching Malamalife and The Cottage Fairy as well and have been subscribed to them for a while now, to your channel too Eileen :) Embracing my introversion is something I have learned over the years and now I celebrate it 💚
Have recently discovered your channel and I love it. ❤ We follow the same youtubers. 🙂 One thing that I haven't been able to find: as a person who is educated and polished, how would you cope with the ones that are not like you? I am a highly educated person with many interests and hobbies, love reading, travelling and etc. My husband and I moved from the capital to countryside, so a part of the year we are at the mountains and part of the year in a village. We are now in contact with people of different walks of life. It is hard for me to cope with many of them. I am not snobbish at all, I like fixing and repairing things at home, I started doind gardening, however, the lack of culture and proper/decent bevaviour bothers me. Still cannot help myself. If you have any advice, it would be great to watch in the video. ❤
Fitting in and finding your tribe is hard! Especially as an adult. I moved to a new area 4 years ago and am still looking for my tribe. Though I do find Facebook is helpful by belonging to groups that share my interests....I have found several "FB friends" that way which fills some of that gap. Thanks so much for just being YOU and I love your videos!
I'm neither an introvert nor an extrovert, I've always been comfortable in my skin. I've never felt the pressure to fit in because I have accepted what makes me unique.
Thankyou for this. I'm a lot older but still sometimes I also feel this way but I do enjoy my own company. Reading ...gardening etc.. I am also not a minimalist as I like having treasures as in clothing shoes and decor around me..❤😊
I really enjoyed this video! Thank you so much. This feeling is very familiar to me and sometimes I dont know how to deal with it. What you shared was really important to me.
Thank you for sharing Eileen! I started to read a chapter or half a chapter every other day. Its a reminder to rest myself away from social media and phone. Keep my brain more active. I am currently looking for side hustle, spending a bit of time looking into what may work for me.
Aw Eileen, thank you for this video and the message behind it 💘as im getting older (im 28 right now) and thinking of how I want my future to look like, luxury looks different now. Instead of caring for a ton of expensive bags, I'd rather travel more and comfortably in business with my husband. I also want the option of taking a year off or so to take care of future kids as well. Your perspective on life is really inspiring to me!
I think it’s great to be your authentic self. There are other who’ve grown quickly but not been able to sustain their channel because they have only focused on content their viewers want to watch.❤ Btw, one of my favourite word ever, “malufying”. 😂
Hi Eileeen, Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. There are times when I think that people (even friends) are complicated. I feel the pressure to change and behave differently to fit into the ,,circle”. I am doing this because I am afraid to lose people who are precious to me. This is actually a silly thought. You are right. I should stay to my true self and let people go, who are not able to accept the real me. I really admire your hobbies and wish i could read more. My son is 2,5 year old. It will take a bit longer until I am able to have some free time for myself ☺️
I can really relate to what you had to say. In my office i felt the same way. I am not anti social but i just prefer to have my own lunch at times or even with colleague not with a whole gang. I just don't mind to be eating with just 1 person or the most 2. I nowadays don't care if i blend in or not, i just want some quiet time for myself. Yes, Malaysian can really mix in all languages to construct a sentence and we all feel at home. We called it "Rojak" here 🤣 mixing all the fruits into a thick yummy shrimp paste sauce that is spicy. Hope you will come home for visiting one day. Thanks for sharing 😍
I still watch yr channel sometimes, eileen. Tbh sometimes it’s just boring. Sometimes your advice relates. So I think it’s free option, like it.. watch. Don’t like it.. don’t watch. You just make whatever content you like 😉
Thank you for sticking around! I do get that a lot in real life too- Eileen, you’re such a boring person! At times I do worry about me, my life, content, and maybe even things aren’t exciting enough but I’ve learnt to accept myself a bit more everyday. If you have any video suggestions, please drop them here 😊🙏
Being a Bengali American, I felt the same way. I’m not like typical Bengali, so didn’t fit in with the Bengali community and I’m not Americanized. So never felt part of any community.
@@ColourfulNoir yeah, i don't care about belonging or feeling like an outsider anymore. Rather like doing my own things and having couple of friends who understands and respects that.
