  • At the petroleum supplier conference underway in Kampala, the sector regulator chief executive, Ernest Rubondo, said Uganda has registered a huge milestone, now being among oil majors with large drilling rigs on the African continent. The development of the facilities to produce the discovered oil and gas resources in the Tilenga and Kingfisher projects will require about US$6-8 billion. Key infrastructure includes the refinery at Kabaale, Hoima, at a cost of about US$4 billion and a crude oil export pipeline from Hoima, Kabaale, to Tanga estimated to cost US$5 billion. Rachel Nabisubi attended the opening.

For us this side we only pray for success in this oil and gas business for Uganda to transform to a Middle class country. Our GDP is too low to uplift economic growth.

We hope it will benefit the Ugandans, improve roads, hospitals and schools. Plus creating jobs for everyone. For God and my country 🙏🏻

Size of a rig is of no consequence. U can have the biggest in the world but the key factor is barrels per day. Tells us how many wells it can drill in the shortest time to boost output. What is the gross, gas, water cut per well. Tells us how many barrels can be produced per day because that translates into money.
@NTV ask the real questions rather than propagate lies of those govt officials paying themselves fat salaries when they understand nothing in the oil and gas industry.

Large Oil rigs are of no benefit with corruption at the peak in your country.
We shall wait to see how they're gonna impact the dev't and reducing debt burden. Not forgetting those who were displaced by these activities 😊

Who is getting the profits if it is not waiting in Uganda and helping it to care adequately for its population then it is just another country being robbed.
