  • Seeing as how Napoleon returned in 1815 and restored the empire, could the Battle of Waterloo be termed "The Empire Strikes Back"? Join Cody as he charges into this solitaire game of the iconic Napoleonic battle from Blue Panther. Will it break through the lines of your heart? Or will it just be a final defeat on your tabletop? Let's watch!

Oh my goodness - thank you so much, Cody! This review makes me so happy - I’m honored by your kind words. We’re planning on to doing Borodino next with this system, so I hope that sounds good. Thanks again!

Looks like a great game. I'm currently playing 'By Iron and Blood', The Battle of Konniggratz 1866, also from the talented Mr Luttmann and Blue Panther. It's a great small map wargame, probably up a notch in complexity from Vive L'Empereur!, and a 2 player affair (although I'm having a blast playing it solo regardless). Again, some really interesting mechanics - this title replaces the chit pull with a 'river' mechanism to activate your units. Very clever and makes for some agonising decisions! Well worth a look, especially as this slice of European history tends to get overlooked by gamers.

Looks like an interesting game. The Waterloo Campaign makes for an interesting study.
As a historian I am sure you've read The Campaigns of Napoleon by David G. Chandler.
For 19th century warfare I would recommend Legion Wargames Indian Wars of the American West series (1st Battle of Adobe Walls, Battle of Rosebud Creek, and The Little Bighorn).

Thanks for the recommends. Oh, yes Chandler. Some better books on the topic, IMHO.

Just bought it, and with the low Australian dollar and shipping, glad to know it will be worth it

You missed a golden opportunity - when you mentioned Blucher, you should've inserted the sound of a neighing horse (a la Young Frankenstein).
