- This video compares all the dynamic microphones with a built-in preamp ("gain booster", "signal booster" or "mic activator") on the market as of January 2024: The Shure SM7dB, the Logitech Blue Sona, the Aston Stealth and the SE Electronics Dynacaster.
DISCLAIMER: I have purchased all but the SM7dB with my own money (albeit, the SE Dynacaster at a good distributor discount): the SM7dB is a loaner from Shure.

Thank you! this is by far the best review of these mics that I have watched.
Amazing video
Very helpful comparison! Thank you! I think, its astonishing how close the sm7db and the sE dynacaster (with matching eq settings) are together. Here in germany, the sm7db costs 600 Euros and the dynacaster only 250 Euros. In my opinion, our videos should have way more views.
Great video. The editing work is amazing , especially the mid rotation flipping and annotation đŽ
For me, the DM8 wins. I also like the sound of the Blue Sona, but I don't like that it absolutely needs phantom power to operate. And I also like the sound options on the Dynacaster the best. I think the Dynacaster also works best as an instrument mic compared to the others. It's great on drums and on electric guitar cabinet.
You should have more views and more likes and subscribers, your channel is very good.
As with all of your work, this is an excellent review (good, bad, and ugly) for each of the microphones individually and compared to one another. I've been using the Dynacaster DCM8 for about a year and love it. Thanks for sharing your assessments and for the high quality of your reviews.
This video contains a crazy amount of work. Thank you VERY MUCH! My Dream Mic would be a Mic with a DSP that i can tweak to a very deep extend. Even if some Mics have that ( I think the Blue Sona have that) they are not tweakable to my taste.
Funny that voice is MID in EQ and a lot of people think a V Shape, or cutting on MID, is good for Voice. đ¤Ł
